minutes in motion: first
of 12 COMMISSIONED short films premieres on january 21
On January 21, Trip-Nós, a short dance film created by Sibéal Davitt, Emma O’Sullivan and Gavin
FitzGerald will premiere online at www.danceireland.ie/21 as part of the DANCE
IRELAND 21 "MINUTES IN MOTION" film
programme.
MINUTES IN MOTION is a programme of 12 one-minute dance films that have
been commissioned by Dance Ireland as part of its DANCE IRELAND 21 anniversary
year. The 12 commissioned films will be premiered on the Dance Ireland 21
website on the 21st of each month throughout 2013. The 12 dance artists who have created the dance films span the breadth
of the Irish dance community: from experienced choreographers to new dancers,
from those who specialise in film to those creating their first cinematic work.
Trip-Nós, the first film to feature in the
MINUTES IN MOTION series, is set in a pub, where two live gigs, a DJ set and a
trad session, clash. In this short, sharp slice of modern Dublin, they
gradually merge as one, the music and dance becoming infections as onlookers
take to the floor.
Speaking about MINUTES IN MOTION, Dance
Ireland Chief Executive Paul Johnson said
“it’s exciting to see how Irish artists have risen to the challenge of
portraying dance through the medium of film: this wondrous group of new films really
capture the innovative vibrancy of dance artists in Ireland today.”
Visit www.danceireland.ie/21 on January 21 -
