Leurs œuvres traitent de l’environnement urbain, de la banlieue en particulier, et de l’abandon des zones industrielles. BOTTO E BRUNO impressionnent par la diversité de leurs talents et mêlent dans leurs réalisations la photo, le dessin, le collage, la vidéo, et la musique créant ainsi des installations complètes. Ils ont réalisés des expositions remarquées dans de nombreuses institutions, la fondation Teseco pour l’art à Pise, la BF 15 à Lyon, ou le Mamco de Genève. Pour cette exposition, la galerie Magda Danysz devient l’immense support d’expression du duo d’artiste. Dès l’entrée on pénètre dans leur univers à travers une installation faites de frises de textes sortant directement d’une paire de tennis usées. Ils compilent dans cette œuvre de nombreux textes utilisés par le passé et mettent ainsi en évidence l’importance des mots et du texte dans leurs œuvres. Plus loin, BOTTO E BRUNO tapissent les murs d’une multitude de feuilles de papier froissé peintes à l’encre noire. Ils dessinent ainsi un paysage à la fois ancré dans l’urbain – on reconnait la silhouette de grands immeubles – et extrêmement fragile par la légèreté du support utilisé. Cette poésie se ressent encore dans une installation de grande dimension à l’étage de la galerie. BOTTO E BRUNO juxtaposent collage, peinture, textes issus de journaux ou de chansons ou photographies. La frontière entre les différentes techniques disparait totalement à l’image de la frontière entre l’espace urbain et la nature qui semble prendre possession de celui-ci. En mêlant le texte aux images peintes ou photographiées, BOTTO E BRUNO suggèrent leur propre expérience de la ville. Ils nous proposent de vivre à notre tour cette expérience tel LE personnage de dos, partie intégrante de l’installation, qui nous indique la marche à suivre pour se plonger dans la lecture de l’œuvre et découvrir cet environnement nouveau. Learn More courtesy booto e bruno (installation) The young man who refused to leave his childhood Gianfranco BOTTO and Roberta BRUNO were born in Turin in 1963 and 1966 respectively. Their work deals with the urban environment, focusing especially on the suburbs and abandoned industrial areas. BOTTO E BRUNO prove their talent by the diversity of their work including, photography, drawing, collage, video, and music and their excellent achievements. They have had notable exhibitions in many institutions including The Foundation Teseco for art in Pisa, the BF 15 in Lyon and Geneva Mamco. For the upcoming exhibition, Gallery Magda Danysz gives an overwhelming amount of support to this artistic duo. Upon entering the gallery the audience is automatically confronted with the environment of the artists whereby the external world dissolves. The audience is faced with a pair of used sneakers with twirls of writing emerging from the sneakers. The motif of text in their work highlights the importance of words in their creations. BOTTO E BRUNO line the walls with multiple sheets made from crumpled paper painted in black ink. They sketch a landscape that is rooted in the city - we recognize the silhouette of tall buildings – yet their sketches are extremely fragile due to the lightness of the mediums that they use. BOTTO E BRUNO juxtapose collage, paint, newspaper, songs and pictures to compile their work. The exchange between the different techniques disappears completely upon the completing of the image and the boundary between urban space and nature takes possession the piece. Combining the text, images and photographs, BOTTO E BRUNO suggest their own experience of the city. They are proposing to us to look at the image from a point of view perspective. The installation explores the process one goes through to follow dive in the understanding of the images from this new environment.
