Alongside Berlin Art Week, the BERLINER LISTE takes place from
September 19th to 22nd in Kraftwerk Mitte on Köpenicker Straße,
right in the heart of Berlin. For the tenth time, the fair invites
international galleries, project spaces and artists to submit their
applications to exhibit. New, exciting talents and gallery programmes are
particularly encouraged to apply and present their work to a wide audience
in the extraordinary atmosphere of the former power station in Berlin
Mitte. Berlin has a long tradition of photography and continues to play a
pivotal role in this contemporary and modern discipline. BERLINER LISTE has
thus decided to open up a special section dedicated to photography
galleries.
The team around director Jörgen Golz is excited
to have won the interests of Dr. Peter Funken as curator for the 10th
BERLINER LISTE. The art journalist has long been active as an art curator
and will support the BERLINER LISTE in ensuring a high quality of exhibited
works. The objective is to position new artistic talents on Berlin's art
scene and generate a new art-affine generation of buyers and collectors. As
the fair of discovery for modern and contemporary art, the BERLINER LISTE
focuses particularly on work that has been produced in and with reference
to Berlin, as well as international pieces that contribute to the
international art discourse just as Berlin itself does.
"I want
to uncover innovative, high-quality art, exhibit it and bring it into
discussion. I consider the BERLINER LISTE an opportunity to bring together
artists, gallery owners, project leaders, curators, art fanatics and art
lovers," says Dr. Peter Funken. "Berlin is an art metropolis at the
crossroads of the four compass points and a central magnet for artists from
across the world. Art is our mutual asset, regardless of where it
originates—but the content must be appropriate. It is fundamental to
me that we exhibit international work with class—the fair should be
an adventure."
As the biggest production location for art,
Berlin plays an increasingly significant role on the international art
market. The BERLINER LISTE seeks to further strengthen this development
with its exceptional bridge function in the Berlin art scene by reacting to
the specific circumstances of the art creators, integrating them into an
international context.
Interested international galleries,
project spaces and individual artists are invited to apply for exhibition
for the fair, which takes place September 19th to 22nd: www.berliner-liste.org.
