Bonhams Hong Kong offers a collection of carefully curated contemporary Asian Art during the Fine Chinese Paintings & Contemporary Asian Art Auction on 25 May at the Island Shangri-la Hotel. This debut collection was put together by the newly established Contemporary Asian Art department and features important Chinese and Southeast Asian art.
Highlights include iconic works by established contemporary Chinese artists such as Qi Zhilong, Fang Lijun, Wang Jinsong, Li Shan, He Sen, Zhu Yiyong, sculptures by Sui Jianguo, a photograph by Hong Hao (who is now represented by Pace Gallery), inks on paper by Gu Wenda and Qu LeiLei (who is featured in the show titled Light Before Dawn: Unofficial Chinese Art 1974-1985 held at the Asia Society Hong Kong May-September 2013). A work by acclaimed Japanese artist Yoshimoto Nara is also featured. As Burma opens, its art market is bound to be the next one to expand in Asia, the auction will present paintings by the Burmese master U Lun Gywe and the fabulous painter Aung Kyaw Htet.
