PRESS NEWS "LES BAINS, ARTISTS RESIDENCY" PHOTO SHOW JUNE 22 - JULY 27 2013 From June 22 to July 27, the Magda Danysz Gallery is pleased to host the photograph exhibition by Stéphane BISSEUIL and Jérôme COTON tracing the ephemeral artistic residency of Les Bains and showing the works created by 50 artists. From January to April 2013, artists invaded 3000 m² of this legendary building dating from 1885. Stéphane Bisseuil and Jérôme Coton the only photographers to be allowed to enter this venue and join the crazy adventure, present the photos they took each day during this period, as a visual memory of these ephemeral works in situ. This exhibition shares the memories of this ephemeral art project, through exclusive photos (the whole space was closed during the artistic residency). These photos are both powerful and impressive but also marked with nostalgia. Les Bains are enhanced with paintings, spray cans, posters, and installations. Some installations and works by L’ATLAS, YZ, VHILS and STEN LEX add even more rhythm to the linear photo exhibition, which resembles a spool of film that is unrolling before our eyes. The level of creativity seen here is unique and evokes the artistic performance specific to this original residency in Les Bains. This 192-pages beautiful book traces the four months of the ephemeral artistic residency at the Bains, the legendary Parisian club. Along with the photos taken by Stéphane Bisseuil and Jérôme Coton, the readers will discover for the first time the diversity and richness of the artistic expressions by the 50 artists who took part of this secret and non-open residency. From the first pages, Jean-Pierre Marois, owner of this place and initiator of the adventure, make us come into the heart of the legend of this place. With passion, he tells about the story of the great moments of Les Bains. Then through more than 200 never-published together pictures we discover the secret project, the hidden residency. Stéphane Bisseuil and Jérôme Coton immortalize this artistic residency from the empty spaces to the final works.
