Matthew Geller's Anticipator Unveiled
Anticipator's futuristic combination of natural and artificial forms plays off the historic site-the tree trunk has been salvaged from the grounds and the exotic blooms recall Miss Florence's interest in non-native species, many of which she planted around her house. A new biomechanical hybrid that is part plant and part machine, Anticipator shapes its environment in an almost animate way, introducing the elements of mist and light and eliciting feedback in return.

New Exhibition
Animal/Vegetable/ Mineral: An Artist's Guide to the World takes its inspiration from Renaissance-era cabinets of curiosities in its installation, grouping the 105 works according to the three themes, and highlights the different ways that American artists explored similar ideas as styles changed. With key works from the Museum's permanent collection hanging alongside lesser-known gems,
Animal/Vegetable/Mineral encourages visitors to take a fresh look at familiar art. The addition of work by contemporary artists Sascha Braunig, Allison Maletz, and the team of Nicholas Kahn and Richard Selesnick demonstrates ways artists continue to investigate questions fundamental to art making. In The Shop
Guy Wolff Realizes
Childe Hassam's Geranium Pot
This spring, the Museum commissioned master potter Guy Wolff of Bantam, Connecticut, to recreate the terra-cotta pot in Childe Hassam's Summer Evening. In the painting, the geranium echos the woman's domesticated role, their shared vitality confined to the interior. The simple yet elegant form in Hassam's painting is available in four sizes. These limited edition pots are stamped with the Museum's name as well as Guy Wolff's esteemed trademarks. A noted authority of early English and American ceramics as well as a craftsman, Wolff 's work will be celebrated in the upcoming publication, Guy Wolff: Master Potter in the Garden. $24.95 (available for pre-order, July release date)
Call or stop by The Shop to order this limited edition pot or pre-order the book.
