The Speed has teamed up with Louisville Metro Parks to bring you some amazing summer camps in August. Sign up soon! Registration ends August 2.

Art Studio Drawing & Printmaking:
Collect, Curate, Create!
California Community Center - 1600 West St. Catherine Street

August 5-9, 9-5pm

Your child will explore the role of a museum curator during this specialty Speed Art Museum camp. Just like the museum’s founder, Mrs. Hattie Bishop Speed, they can decide what and where their objects will be in their very own galleries! Campers will learn to handle, conserve, and look at actual objects. This camp brings art to life through fun and unique activities. Your child will have fun making many different kinds of art by drawing and printmaking. They will explore and learn the basic principles of drawing and see how prints can be a process that allow an artist to create multiple versions of the same image.

What makes this camp extra special? We will have special guests visiting the campers. Docents from the Speed will share a conversation with the campers about the museum. During this visit, campers will get to wear white curator gloves and handle objects from the museum’s teaching collection.
