Galleries, museums + more in Chicago thru August 6, 2013
Summer moves on and we're enjoying the relief from the heat while we can!  Gallery and museum doors are open to you while you have these lazy days to explore. Want a summer project? Make your own map of public art in downtown Chicago. Commit to visiting new suburbs you've always wanted to check out. Go meet an artist at work in their studio. Don't miss out on another free museum late night. There is something to do for everyone, whether you're a gallery hopping veteran or someone who moved to Chicago last week.

The full list for openings happening the rest of the month and into August is  HERE. CGN's Calendar of Events page also has a range of events listed that take place through the summer. Some highlights that are ending or taking place soon are detailed below. Before you know it, the fall frenzy will be here!

There's lots to do - enjoy & we'll see you in the galleries!

Homebodies presents work by contemporary artists who examine the space of the home, both literally and metaphorically, as an integral site for making art. Featuring an expansive range of artworks, some made of materials found in the domestic sphere, and others that represent or recreate a sense of domesticity, Homebodies demonstrates a new understanding of how the domestic context has influenced the creation and interpretation of contemporary art. Including internationally known artists like Rachel Whiteread and Doug Aitkin, Homebodies also features Chicago-based artists such as Dzine.

Backstory
at MoCP

Backstory: LaToya Ruby Frazier, Ron Jude and Guillaume Simoneau is on view now at the Museum of Contemporary Photography (MoCP).

The three featured artists in this exhibition tell autobiographical stories by intertwining personal narrative with social, political, and cultural conditions of place.

By mixing familial and communal histories, the artists blur boundaries between personal and collective as they mirror the fluidity of our information-saturated world. Details HERE
