The Camera Club of New York will host the fourth annual Zine and Self-Published Photo Book Fair, Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4, 2013. This year’s theme, The Americas, presents photo books and zines from North, South and Central America. The curators – Jade Berreau, Lindsey Castillo, Victoria Gondra and Erik van der Weijde – each have backgrounds in publishing, with close ties to artists from all over the Americas. They have curated a wide range of work that reflects the region’s great diversity in art and culture. As in past years, all proceeds from the sale of zines and photo books will go directly to the artists or small publishers.

On Saturday, August 3 at 3pm in the CCNY Studio, Tony White will discuss the impact of zines and artists’ publishing in the early 21st century in the United States. White will briefly draw attention to the impact by late 20th century democratic multiple-artists’ books in the USA, and to the paradigm shift in production/distribution opportunities created by the internet and print on demand. Connections to similar publishing practices in the Americas will be highlighted as well, drawing on the diversity and interconnectedness the internet has created for artists’ publishing today, whether in North, Central or South America.

The CCNY Photo Book & Zine Fair has been made possible in part through the generous support of The Tierney Family Foundation.
