Artists Describing Their Art:

Pol Ledent - I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Belgium o, 23rd October 1952. I started painting in 1995 . I took some drawing lessons in the art academy in Dinant. I try to paint the landscapes of the countryside where I am living : the southern part of Belgium. Firts I took part in many collective exhibitions . Than, I had personal exhibitions in Rochehaut (Galerie La Potele), in Dinant (Galerie L'impression), in Paris (Rive Gauche Galerie Artimus) in Brussels (Galerie G-Loft).In 2004, I had three exhibitions, again In Rochehaut, galerie La Potele in May. Then, in September Exhibition Libr'art in Libramont. In November, Galerie Impression in Dinant. What people like most in my paintings are the colours. My art doesn't speak to the intellect but to the soul and to the feelings. Talink the risk to seem old fashioned , I would say it is rather romantic. I wish you much pleasure looking at my paintings. Pol Ledent ...

Helena Wierzbicki - I have always enjoyed art from an early age. This love of Art has stayed with me and developed and grown, and now, I cannot imagine wanting to do anything else. Making art, for me, is an innate response to the inner and outer worlds, and a balancing act between the intuitive and the considered. I am interested in exploring my natural abilities and enthusiasm for my commitment to do an art within my innermost thoughts and emotions. Shades of colors and lines turning images of beings into landscapes and symbols. My art is an evolving process, I take and represent only elements which are the essence of the imaginary being. I rely on my desires for beauty, poetics and seduction. "Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures." Henry Ward Beecher (1813 - 1887) ...

Alexander Sobolta - Im an emerging artist living and working in Hoboken, New Jersey. All my life Ive sought outlets for creative self-expression through prose, poetry, drawing, painting, film and photography. For the past six years Ive focused my efforts primarily on honing my craft as a painter, working with oil and acrylic paint in abstract expressionistic styles. Over the past year Ive begun showing at exhibitions in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey to overwhelmingly positive receptions and now seek every opportunity to share my work with the world while continuing to grow as an artist. Drawing inspiration from my own life, from events in the world at large, and from my insatiable curiosity in an eclectic range of subjects and disciplines, my art is an exploration... a meditation... a manifestation of my inspiration filtered subconsciously onto canvas. I see art as a window and a mirror revealing something deeply personal about the artist, while reflecting Truths universal to us all....

Vladimir Volosov - I was born in 1937 in Leningrad, USSR (now St. Petersburg, Russia). My way to art was a lengthy one. Before becoming an artist, I studied for thirty years at the forefront of modern physics as a PhD scientist and professor, author more than 150 scientific articles in contemporary laser physics. Thirty years of strenuous scientific work on the front edge of modern physics gives me a deep feeling for the anxiety and unprotectedness of the world's beauty. The formula, "beauty saves the world" fits my own attitude. My creed is also embodied in the statement: "to have time to realize everything given to you by Nature." At the threshold of my fifties, I decided to live one more life, a new, alluring life of the free artist. I walked away from my established scientific career and completely devoted myself to painting. In 1991 I founded and headed the association "Light, Color and Art" to connect with scientists engaged in the arts. The main directions of my paintings are lyrical realism and abstract compositions. My paintings are about light, color, atmosphere and space. For me, the most important elements are light and color and their juxtaposition/nexus/meeting of...
