Artists Describing Their Art:

Ageliki Alexandridou - I am Ageliki I'I3I3IuI>>I1IoI-- from Greece. None of my studies completed me till I started painting. Art is my main occupation for the last 7 years. My studio is located at Mitika Prevezis, a small paradise by the sea at western Greece. I love to paint beauty, wherever I can find it. Although modern trends suggest I should focus on specific themes, I paint what I feel to, avoiding labels. I also canaEURtmt restrict my need to express myself through a specific style every time. Instead, I try different ways, from classicism to abstract. I even though of trying Byzantine hagiography, and thataEURtms what IaEURtmm studying the last few months. I use mostly oil colors, though a few times I start a theme with acrylics. I keep looking, searching, experimenting since I believe that art, as much as every kind of knowledge, is an internal and eternal processing. My paintings are on stretched canvas, so you can hang them as soon as you get them, unless you want to put a frame. When you buy a painting from me, you get a unique, original, signed artwork. My artworks can be found at private collections at Australia, USA, Middle ...

Tyrone Webber - hi my name is tye I have been drawing for as long as I can remember for many years now with huge gaps in between. I recently started drawing again these last two years due to having to give up work and look after my wife wich has given me a little more time also to spend on my artwork I usually draw in graphite but secretely love to experiment with different ideas and would love to be able to paint as well as I draw but alas still under practice I try to make a statement in my mixed media works and at times have been told I do manage to stir emotions in my work which is what I do try and do I think theres nothing worse when once a work is completed then I take a look and it seems a little flat and meaningless with no soul and thats something wich I do try to avoid if I can I started mainly doing portraits but as we know the web is full of thousands of portrait artists all seem to be doing the same thing so I am trying things a lot differently one small ...

Neal Alicakos - I always had a passion for abstract art and did many doodles when I was young. Through my school years I tried to design the year books. In college I minored in art but my majors were more geared for the business world. Although I was not in the art world for many years I always did my doodles to relieve my stress and fill in free time that I had. Now I am semi retired and want to take more of an interest in the things I like most, my doodles and abstract art work. I believe art is an expression of ones soul and mood behaviors. I used to draw mostly black and whites but find I like using colors now. Once in a while I like to combine black and whites, and the use of color in the same abstract drawing. Most times the viewer may not consider that as appealing, but I like to break boundaries as part of expression. Another medium I focus on time to time is photography. I like pictures of landscapes, seascapes, floral, and building structures. I find beauty in nature and architecture. ...

Radford Thomas - STATEMENT BY RADFORD THOMAS Art is my life and my art is a reflection of all the images, actions, sights, sounds and individuals that I have encountered during my tenure here on this earth. Painting is never approached from a viewpoint of producing a "thing" but instead it is the "thing" that appears as I work. All this means is that, for me, painting is a free flowing, creative process, one that evolves as the art work progresses. In my paintings, the initial implementation of paint tells me what to do and I follow its advice henceforth. ...

Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...

Floyd Tunson - As Aristotle said, learning is the greatest of pleasures. My work reflects my journey to acquire knowledge. Along the way I have become a Janus. Looking at life from one direction, I see the terror of chaos, man's inhumanity to man, mortality, and the unknown. From another direction, the human condition seems like a magnificent, orderly evolution of extraordinary beauty. The totality of my work reflects my quest to comprehend and express these forces and their interconnectedness. Even my nonobjective painting is based on this dialectic, where uninhibited strokes play against geometric order. ...

Dante Korda - I was born in Habana, under the Caribbean light during the ardent years of the Cuban revolution. My father was already a recognized photographer and from a young age I had access to the camera and his understanding about art and photographical skills. Being related to the best Cuban photographers of the time allowed me to have access to their photographic equipment, their visions and their illusions. In a way my formation and aesthetic vision was influenced by spending this time as a spectator and pupil of Osvaldo Salas, RaAol Corrales and my father in special Alberto Korda. Through them I gained excessive knowledge and great skills and was immersed in a world where everything I perceived was through lights and shadows. Taking photographs to me is a style of living and a necessity. It is the window in which I can particularly look and expose life. Sharing my images is how I integrate myself into a world that is there but in the way IaEURtmm imagining it. My work has focused in the search and revelation of a flat image into another dimension and a new context. One that moves beyond the technical aspects of photography like ...

Lena Mcardle - Aardvark Arts My name is Lena,I live and work in Berlin .I am one of the rare abstract artists working in fluorescent and light reflective materials .to view under black light, but my work is definately not psychadelic ! I like the element of surprise in my work , under varying light conditions. , I studied at Central School Art and Design, London and for the last 5 years I have researched the role of science in art- and have an exhibition on this theme .I also create visual illusions . .Many of my paintings are 3D. ,human vision is stereoscopic !I create complex mathematical grids , and provide two separate images, - one for each eye .I call my work - subliminal .The pictrures do however function as normal abstract art work and my personal challenge was to create something -" timeless and beautful ". However , my pictures are designed to be viewed under normal light conditions also.In fact they can be viewed vertically or horizontally- 4 Pictures for the price of one ! I am now working on " word ", as art , ie: pictures containing messages. I also offer commissions - " personalised art "- my clients can choose their own colour scheme, their own theme ( within reason ) and whatever...

Hendrik Arie Baartman - Hendrik Arie Baartman As an artist of constructive geometric forms, my work deals with patterns and relationships derived from classical ideals of balance and symmetry. Mathematical yet organic, these abstract forms invite the viewer to partake of the geometric aesthetic. I use a variety of media. Classical forms are pushed in new directions, so viewers can take pleasure in their spiritual beauty yet recognize how they are updated for our complex high-tech times. I share with many artists the idea that a pure form is a worthy object, and select for each piece the materials that best carry that form. Because my works invite contemplation, slowly revealing their content, some viewers see them as meditation objects. A lively dancing energy moves within each piece and flows out to the viewer. The integral wholeness of each self-contained picture presents a crystalline purity, a conundrum of complexity and a stark simplicity.

Aleksandar Janicijevic - I have been developing this project [urban squares] since july 2001. it consists of an intensive collection of urban square images. the photos have been taken in more than 15 countries, stitched together as 360Es panoramas and prepared in two formats, a quicktimeVR that can be viewed as an interactive movie, and some of them in a version prepared for printing at up to 20" x 150". as an integral part of this collection a classification system was developed. there are two parts to this system: categories of the types of squares and an evaluation method. by classifying and then analyzing the elements of a square, I slowly began to realize that there is a similarity between the city and a living organism. we can treat cities as entities with collective intelligence and, with the same analogy, we can recognize a system by which the urban space communicates with us. the square, as a city's "heart and soul", has the most to say, so recently I concentrated my artistic exploration on the language of urban squares. the vocabulary of urban squares is part of a complex language of art; it is a dialect with very specific characteristics. elements have ...
