Artists Describing Their Art:

Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...

Denise Dalzell - I recently settled on some keywords for my work, so I will begin this edition of my statement with the following Painting. Illustration. Expressionism. Pop Art. Modern. Realism and, occasionally, a bit of Abstraction. And while grumbling about writing my statement again, I have had an insight regarding my work. So here we goaEUR| How do we, as people of differing backgrounds, cultures, and experiences interact with each other Are we different people in a crowd than when alone How do we fit in or stand out where we find ourselves at any given moment My current work centers on my consideration of how we respond to each other, the stories that develop between us and around us, and how our collective stories reflect on and influence us individually. How do our stories bounce off each other and combine to create new stories. My paintings are illustrations of the scenes that I encounter during my travels abroad and in daily life so, some scenes are more sweeping than others. Stories can come from anywhere, and thereaEURtms no predicting what theyaEURtmll reveal. Body language, movement, color, contrast combine to illustrate my scenes of interaction between people and within environments. ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Environmental Artist Apollo - "The beauty of our planet should be held in respect as well as reverence and awe! As the care takers of this precious jewel called Earth it is our duty to become more harmonious with our environment, for what we hold in our hands is a trust for future generations. What we do today, creates tomorrow." APOLLO Internationally Renowned Environmental Artist. Apollo is one of the World's Leading Environmental Artists. Apollo started painting dolphins and whales when He first moved to Maui in 1980. Since that time he has developed a Worldwide Following and has had the privilege to work with several Environmental Groups to raise both funding and awareness. ...

C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Rita Levinsohn - Welcome to my world of Other Realities. I am a painter of mystical figurative paintings and abstractions composed of acrylic paint and found objects. My concern is for the future of our planet. The animate and inanimate objects within the paintings reflect many incarnations. The message being that it is possible to create rather than destroy....

Lou Posner - Dear Art Friends, Yes, we are living in trying times, and my heart goes out to all who are suffering or have suffered from the COVID-19 virus or the other effects of it the social isolation, loss of paychecks and jobs, etc., etc. We all know the list. I know I am biased, but what better way is there to soften the harshness of quarantine than by bringing a new piece of art into your home Therefore, I am open to negotiating prices for any works of mine for sale here that are priced at about 1500 or lower. I know money is tight these days, but art can provide a relief, a permanent cultural enjoyment, a luxury instead of the normal dinners out and vacations, during these restrictive times. Please do not feel timid about suggesting your own price for the works mentioned above. As I an artist, I too, am suffering economic hardship, so you would be helping ME as well as helping yourself. I do not accept charge cards or paypal, but a personal check or a cashiers check would be fine. I cannot offer extended time-payment plans for any of my work. I am ...

Rickie Dickerson - I work from the core, I smear my guts on the canvas, all the pain and confusion...joy, lust and anger...right before your very eyes. I have to paint, I have no choice. My mentor, Luise "Mignon" Andersen, introduced me to acrylic paint and threw me deeper into the river of creativity. Everything I do is just to keep me from drowning... As for the photography, that's compulsive as well....

Chad A. Carino - A quality which defines the life of any urban artist is the visible entropy surrounding us in the form of decay and despoilation of the desolation defining post-industrial urban America. Simply put, we live in darkness. This quality bends and controls me, defining my work, decaying into darkness and chaos. A solid idea will find itself dissolving into a series of dark scribbles, and a simple concept will belie its ultimate complexity. These images find themselves hovering between unconsiousness and depression; ultimately, cold, dark, and dead, like any planet or person....

Kelly Khalid Courtney - My work arises from a need to visualize and document my spiritual journey. Evolving from my one continuous line drawing style, I have developed a way to bring those drawings to life in wire. I call these FLUIDIKONS. A line telling a story, relating a message. Other works arrive from a love of mixed media and found objects. To view larger, and sometimes better versions of pictures seen here, please see:

Aleksandar Janicijevic - I have been developing this project [urban squares] since july 2001. it consists of an intensive collection of urban square images. the photos have been taken in more than 15 countries, stitched together as 360Es panoramas and prepared in two formats, a quicktimeVR that can be viewed as an interactive movie, and some of them in a version prepared for printing at up to 20" x 150". as an integral part of this collection a classification system was developed. there are two parts to this system: categories of the types of squares and an evaluation method. by classifying and then analyzing the elements of a square, I slowly began to realize that there is a similarity between the city and a living organism. we can treat cities as entities with collective intelligence and, with the same analogy, we can recognize a system by which the urban space communicates with us. the square, as a city's "heart and soul", has the most to say, so recently I concentrated my artistic exploration on the language of urban squares. the vocabulary of urban squares is part of a complex language of art; it is a dialect with very specific characteristics. elements have ...
