Artists Describing Their Art:
Cheryl Finfrock - Artist Statement Dreams inspire my work. Images ranging from public domain icons to archaic glyphs fascinate me. With high voltage colors I search for a visual language of universal archetypes. The creation and deconstruction of this language occurs through the physical act of painting. In my recent work, color, texture, and layering become the psychology of expression. Fauvism, Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and Carl Jung influence me. Whether from the past, future or present day, this color has its own unique quality. This is why I don't like to confine my subject matter to only the pre concieved traditional notions or ideas of what American Western Art is. I am mostly self taught with some other artists help, Lou Williams was my main teacher, along with Hall Groat. and now I let my art speak for itself. By the way... all art pictured on this site may be purchased by print, The cost of a 16x20 framed and matted print is $55.00 shipped...
