  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Michael Garr - I have been drawing and painting since Junior High. I enjoy quick art, impressionistic yet realistic, and minimal. There are interesting subjects all around us. My inspirations are architecture, people, light and shadow, the sea and boats, imagination... and the old masters. Get out and enjoy your surroundings. All my works are available as signed and numbered prints. I also do commission works, some examples of which are in the portfolio. I donate all proceeds to charity, and have recently teamed with SAVE THE BAY, a local Rhode Island eco-advocate organization, which receives 30 PER CENT of my proceeds. My opportunities for artistic expression have included drawing on napkins during airplane rides and waiting during my sons music lessons. In 2012 I took up oil painting for the first time, and my mentor is Lorena Pugh of North Kingstown. Ive done both Plein air and studio work in her presence, and am benefitting from the association. We have an informal group who meet and paint in Lorenas studio on Monday nights throughout the indoor season. I will continue to pursue art on a daily basis, and post the finished works here and on facebook for any and all to ...

Bryan Kemila - Artist Statement Bryan Kemila ------------------------------ PENDING ------------- BIOGRAPHY Bio - Bryan Kemila - Watercolour painter - Acrylic painter - Oil painter - Sculpting - Critical observer of current events. - Nothing on the planet is quite as compelling as the woman. I was born in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, Ive learned a number of skills. The list includes small engine repair, electrical wiring, construction, furniture building, commercial painting, sign painting, commercial graphics, logo design, bookkeeping and small business practices. As it turns out, the brush control and lettering skills improved. After 2 years of consistent practice, I realized my efforts surpassed the samples in the books. Gratitude must be given to the instruction on layout and design in The Mike Stevens Journal. I launched my own sign business, which I consider a successful enterprise. In my early years, sign painting involved simply a small tin of poster paint and a grey-squirrel tail brush. Back in the day, grocery stores used hand-painted, large paper banners to advertise their weekly specials. So I was good to go into business with minimal overhead When I retired just this past year, the sign business had since evolved devolved to computer software, vinyl-cutter equipment and stick-on letters. Layout and design still remain ...

Dan Shiloh - I was born in Jerusalem Israel. I attended an officers nautical school and served in the navy as an engineer on a destroyer. After the navy I moved to Chicago USA and studied architecture at U of I Chicago campus and graduated in 1972 . I moved back to Israel and opened an architectural office in a small settlement in the Galilee region which became very successful. I retired about 10 years ago and opened as a hobby a black smith studio where I made metal sculptures. In 2009 I moved to Tel Aviv and started painting and sculpting in clay which I do up to these days. I was always interested in arts and I enjoy my painting and sculpting very much. Every year I travel to Florence Italy for at least a month where I paint and sculpt in the Accademia de Arte. I think its about time to share my work with the public and I hope it will enrich the homes of who ever likes my works....

Brita Ferm - I have been an enthusiastic collector of art since my late adolescence. Then I slowly lost most of my central vision during the 1980aEURtms and 90aEURtms, eventually becoming legally blind. I could no longer enjoy the art IaEURtmd collected. Inspired by a TV demonstration, I searched the internet for bold, high-contrast works that I could see. The paintings of Romero Britto captured my sight and my heart, and I copied two of his images onto my ratty-looking kitchen cupboard doors. Then, mimicking BritoaEURtms style, I looked out my kitchen window and tried to paint what I sawimagined of the flower boxes on my deck on two more doors. From the year 2000 on, IaEURtmve been making art I can see, trying to capture the little moments in the lives of people and their animals from my rather skewed perspective. My work has sold to private collectors in the US and in Europe. A frequent comment about my work is, aEURoeThis is happy artaEUR I couldnaEURtmt be more pleased. ...

Wendy Lippincott - Complex allegories dominate the many themes that pervade Ms. Lippincott's paintings. She prefers incorporating science into her art, consistent with her background in electrical engineering, but often gets waylaid with mythological and historical visions. Her paintings are currently only available for licensing. She hopes to have prints available soon. ...

Wendy Lippincott - Donna Gallant - Art is a daily routine in my life. I see, hear, taste, feel and smell the life that surrounds me and I am inspired by the simplest aspects of this world. Whether it be the way the light hits an object or the way objects or forms move in space. I find it all so fascinating and alive. I try to portray these experiences and expressions through my art making....

James Johnson - The basis of my work is the exploration of universal patterns of being common to everyone such as shadow, hero, or trickster. My interest in patterns of being is a fascination that we all share common behaviors or emotions that can be understood singularly. Each pattern of being may be expressed as a figurative sculpture of hand cast aluminum alloy at half-life scale. Patterns of being may be referenced with Jungian archetypes. My hope is to make patterns of being more visible and tangible. Deject Selected as Best in show at the 2021 Piccolo Spoleto Art Exhibition ...

Jack Earley - After writing for two decades, I was developing an idea that I knew could be better expressed as a painting. So in the mid-eighties I took up full-time a life-time passion: painting. My work is about inner energy; about, first of all, my own energy and internal balance, reinforced through the practice of yoga and tai chi. I sign the inner energy of the subject matter onto the canvas. I work with acrylics on canvas and sumi-e inks on rice paper. I also sculpt using wood, copper and leather. Along with focusing on the inner energy of my subject matter, I am constantly working with an awareness that humans have an ancient need to see form, be it in clouds or in chipped paint on a wall or in waving leaves. The ability to decipher forms is part of our oldest survival skills. Imagine the advantage of being able to quickly spot the approaching bear among the shifting shadows of trees. Imagine the advantage and the thrill. On many canvases, I create forms so the viewer "discovers" them in an uplifting act. Often, I give the paint its head in creating forms, like freeing a captured ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken.
