Artists Describing Their Art:
Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...
Marcus Thomas - The development of my art is dictated by concept, color, and texture. I am a self proclaimed Urban Monk (no religious affiliation) because of my strict dedication to art. I started training academically in the arts at six. I studied for twelve years under the instruction of Donna Boiman at The Central Ohio Art Academy. After graduating highschool I went on to study a general fine arts education for eight years at Savannah College of Art and Design where I fell in love with the southern life style and adapted my love of barbecue into my own style of mixed media art called Post Modern Barbequeism (pronounced- Bar-Be-Q-ism) which brings a dialog and playfulness of cultures, societies, races, and soul into a format everyone can take a bite of. Over the last two years I have recently taken my art into the form of literature as well writing a collection of poetry published, screen plays, art books, and am currently writing a play to be produced later in the upcoming year....
Minh Hang - Through life struggle I was able to understand the profound meaning of my surrounding. Each experienced take me to a different level of awareness and a vision with wiser perspective. Art was a mean for me to coped with all the hardship and struggle in my life, each time i pickup a paint brush i went in to a trend that take me deep down to the cord of my spirituality until i feel my hand was guided by a super being, at this stage i found my sense of security. The process of creating is like a journey to discover a new self and a new world. I like to provoked the deep sense of my emotion where i can create mood that give me the excitement and energy in the process. to me, I found that black and white visually give me a pure sense of reality and raw emotion like a documentary told the story the way it is. with just a simple medium such as black charcoal, ink and acrylic to convey an idea on to a canvas through light and shadow, form and composition to form a visually excitement finish piece of art work. ...

Basant Soni - ECO-FRIENDLY ART Creative use of my creators resources - My Organic Art does not impact the environment or waste paper and therefore trees. I feel that I am earnestly using waste of organic materials which could have been perished with course of time. But it is one of the God's natural gifts in their rarest forms to create a new and use my imagination and intuition. Waste not - want not - many papers saved can equal many trees. I do not want to waste my natural resources in any way. ...
Patti Meador - I first became interested in digital photo manipulation about a year and a half ago with the onset of a disability allowing me time, and a need to express myself creatively. My interest in digital photography was born with the gift of my first digital camera (Olympus C4000) for Christmas 2002. My'hobby' has since escalated to a full fledged passion! The opportunities for artistic expression available with digital imaging (cameras and software) are endless, and with God's grace my intention is to explore them all til my dying breath! I live with my husband of 30+ years, and 3 dogs (2 Boston Terriers and Boxer) in a small village in Ohio (US). I do hope that all who view my work take a small portion of the inspiration that I felt in it's creation away with them. More of my work can be seen on my various web sites, and prints, apparel and various gift items available via my Zazzle and Printfection shops, as well as select works on Art.com and Allposters. Lynn Rupe - "EXPECT DELAYS" URBAN HABITAT Some background on these paintings... The gorillas, lions, rhinos, narwhals, warthogs that inhabit these paintings are passing through the "urban jungle". They show up as very unusual pedestrians on very busy streets or perhaps they are stranded on a bit of grass or water in an otherwise completely hardened, urban situation. Sure, there are animals that can thrive in cities with humans - the pigeons, the rats, the dogs and the cats. And of course there is the stray moose or two that wanders down Main Street. Most wild animals, though, have crawled far away from humans to find some peace and refuge in remnants of forests and swamps. It is absurd to believe that these minuscule islands of habitat are adequate homes for wild animals. On these canvases I depict my fantasies of animals appearing in cities. Cities will be what is left for them so they had just better adapt! ...and there they are--calmly crossing the downtown streets. So I guess we had better expect a few traffic jams and a few delays! Ha! Note: The rhinos, elephants and gorillas that frequent my paintings can be easily identified but I'm not sure most...
