Artists Describing Their Art:

Bryan Kemila - Artist Statement Bryan Kemila ------------------------------ PENDING ------------- BIOGRAPHY Bio - Bryan Kemila - Watercolour painter - Acrylic painter - Oil painter - Sculpting - Critical observer of current events. - Nothing on the planet is quite as compelling as the woman. I was born in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan, Ive learned a number of skills. The list includes small engine repair, electrical wiring, construction, furniture building, commercial painting, sign painting, commercial graphics, logo design, bookkeeping and small business practices. As it turns out, the brush control and lettering skills improved. After 2 years of consistent practice, I realized my efforts surpassed the samples in the books. Gratitude must be given to the instruction on layout and design in The Mike Stevens Journal. I launched my own sign business, which I consider a successful enterprise. In my early years, sign painting involved simply a small tin of poster paint and a grey-squirrel tail brush. Back in the day, grocery stores used hand-painted, large paper banners to advertise their weekly specials. So I was good to go into business with minimal overhead When I retired just this past year, the sign business had since evolved devolved to computer software, vinyl-cutter equipment and stick-on letters. Layout and design still remain ...

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. I use digital photography and imaging to envision the concepts originating from the creative pulse. An individual artist explores and gives the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. Francisco Landazabal - In a world where life passes too quickly and the instant runs away suddenly I chose to live calmly to study the inner nature of things. I have been my entire life enquiring about the whole reality, and hence my journey through various disciplines like fine arts, philosophy and even technology. My art is a human art, where being in touch with people and nature is extremely important, but then, I always return to the silent retreat of my Atelier in the mountains of Colombia to find the essence of things on the tip of my brushes and painting knives which results in the form of colorful and vibrant compositions, where a sort of magic is revealed. Sometimes it is very close to impressionism or expressionism, and sometimes it is fully abstract, a dance of the mere color masses and shades changing to allow the watcher to dream and complete the artwork. ...

John Gamache - If I come across something of interest that will be a focal point for me to build on, that excites my passion for elements of the pastaEUR"old, cast-off objects,aEUR"run down barns, old junk cars, and abandoned houses. These are the objects I collect and infuse with new life through my paintings. When I create such a piece, I wish to convey the emotions I feel for the scene or objects to the viewer. I want the viewer to be an active participant in my joy, melancholy, humor, nostalgia. Through my textures, layers, earth-tones, and choice of images, I strive to convey these feelings. To me, the process of creating a work is transcendental I am completely lost in the making, I am part of each piece. It does take time to finish each painting as I work on several at once. Each painting is a slow build up of many layers to reach the final detailing. My goal is to create and master my craft, not just in the painting but in the feelings Ive described previously to the viewer. To elicit emotion will make the piece and my goal complete as a work of art. ...

Geo Sipp - Geo Sipp Artist Statement: The primary emphasis of my images is to reflect our experiences as consumers of the media in the aftermath of September Eleventh. As we go about our lives the media constantly reminds us of our exposure and vulnerability. The visual perception that is promoted is of our being continuous observers of the human condition. A sense of being under threat heightens our awareness and is implicit in our roles as parents, friends and guardians. The media trivializes threats by distilling them into short, dramatic events. Meaning and emotion become codified. I create images as responses to social and political situations, but no attempt is made to editorialize the content. The work is intended to reevaluate the visual narrative to which we've become conditioned. A variety of media is used to create my work. The decision to create a drawing or a painting or a print is primarily intuitive. Yet, because they are multiples, prints reference the mass marketing of published imagery in a news cycle. The Algeria Series references the Iraq War and Middle East instability. The fact that the images are multiples printed from several plates alludes to the tradition of photojournalism and role...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. C. A. Hoffman - For me, my artwork is very personal. It reflects a lot about how I am feeling at any given time and place. I feel that art has to be on this personal level to completely capture how the artist is feeling daily, or trying to convey a certain thought or emotion at that particular moment. We all, at one time or another try to express our thoughts or ideas, whether it is to others or just to ourselves, by words, actions, ideas or pictures. If we are sucessful in this attempt, I think it shows through in our everyday work or art. I believe that one is either born to create art naturally or by learning. For me, I feel that I was born with this wonderful gift, and I try to improve upon it every day. In my photos and art, I hope to show how everyday objects and nature can capture our imaginations and feelings. Sometimes I work with an image to improve it, inhance it, or just to fuel the imagination. I truly hope this shows in all of my art. ...

Tom Lund-Lack - I am an experienced artist whose work uses the power of imagination to find find the essence of the subject.A It is grounded in the need to celebrate life, and to portray the subject through the transforming power of colour and light. Arrangements of shape, line, pattern and colour are brilliant at conjuringA up powerful expressions, sometimes these can be dreamlike and at peace sometimes exciting and dramatic. My work does not always represent an actual moment, place or object in time, but they areA the result of a process of reflection, recollection and reinvention, a distillation of experience. Art is a very small word having the widest possible meaning appreciation is a subjective judgement and no artist or workA can please everyone.A My aim is to please at least some of you and I am very confident that this aspiration is achievable ...

Tom Lund-Lack - Maryann Burton - Find more of my work at MaryannBurton.com Creating a painting is an adventure that begins with how I perceive the world around me. Inspiration, many times, comes from the play of light, how it creates and dissipates color, and whether it is absorbed or reflected. It is a challenge to my senses and technical skills, expressing these effects on paper. The flow, spontaneity, and feel of painting with watercolor thrills me. The unpredictability of the medium is part of the fun. Whether evoking a feeling or a memory, bringing someone a sense of peace or joy, or reminding them of a familiar time or place, I like to make an emotional connection through my artwork. ...

Kees Van Eyck - My works of art express a metarealistic perception of our world, traditional in the history of Dutch painting. However, the source of my inspiration can also be found in European surrealism as well in American hyper-, and photo realism. In my collection Portraits of Icons of the post-war period of the 20th century I introduced the iconography of our era. These images of celebrities characterise movie-stars, media personalities plus inspirational individuals from the field of music, art, politics and philosophy. With these portraits I pay tribute to famous people with extraordinary gifts and talents, who influenced the development of mankind and left their mark on various fields during the 20th century. My perception of life on Earth is often depicted in a surrealistic manner. My attitude towards our environment is charged with criticism as well as hope for a better future. My paintings aspire to evoke the sense of beauty and to raise awareness of burning issues in todays world....

Ronnie Caplan - Presented in a myriad of mixed medias and emotions, with modish subjects and series, my work ultimately evokes poignant ruminations on art in the streets, with new portrayals of hackneyed tourismo topics, found rhapsodies in the everyday mundane scenes, and, by looking ever so closely, finding buried beauty and covert charm where no one is used to seeing it. Composition and color play a large part in unearthing the esoteric appeal and symmetry to be found in atypical urban and landscapes . . . ...

Michael Chatman - I create art as an expression of my interest in life in capturing the memorable scenes and ideas I have experienced. In creating an image or work, I first, picture the image or idea, then sketch on paper, measure the image to size and then transfer it on to a surface to start painting. Then I proceed to paint the areas of the image I have transformed, starting with the background and then the dominant features of the image, until I have a full painting. I mostly like to work in acrylic, although I can work in most mediums. I find that acrylics are easy to clean-up, dries quickly and is fairly forgiving, as long as one uses a lot of water. I also like working with digital art as I find it to be easy to work with, after learning the fundamentals, and can provide a precise and clear rendering of an image, as well as being able to enhance the image features. In creating Art, I want to leave a lasting impression on the viewer and make them feel as if they have been truly touched by what they've seen....

Jr Linton - At a very young age, Linton's parents recognized his gift as an artist. Once the paint was shaved off of the family dog, they encouraged him to move to other media. As his talent and desire to create grew, his dad would steal reams and reams of 11 x 17 paper from his office to feed his son's growing habit. His mom would keep him on a steady diet of Kool-Aid and American-cheese-and-mustard sandwiches. This kept his mind sharp and his pencils sharper. Linton studied his craft diligently at school, always striving to be that kid in class whom everyone would turn to when they needed a great mustache drawn on the face of a portrait in a history book, or a completely lifelike penis and balls on a desk (in permanent marker, of course). He received his first break in the world of professional graphic arts at the age of 16, working for a local comic book creator and publisher. Many a late night, he stayed up doing paste-up, inking and coloring on books that nobody read. When the company tanked suddenly, Linton found his way to the world of digital art ...
