Artists Describing Their Art:
Jr Linton - At a very young age, Linton's parents recognized his gift as an artist. Once the paint was shaved off of the family dog, they encouraged him to move to other media. As his talent and desire to create grew, his dad would steal reams and reams of 11 x 17 paper from his office to feed his son's growing habit. His mom would keep him on a steady diet of Kool-Aid and American-cheese-and-mustard sandwiches. This kept his mind sharp and his pencils sharper. Linton studied his craft diligently at school, always striving to be that kid in class whom everyone would turn to when they needed a great mustache drawn on the face of a portrait in a history book, or a completely lifelike penis and balls on a desk (in permanent marker, of course). He received his first break in the world of professional graphic arts at the age of 16, working for a local comic book creator and publisher. Many a late night, he stayed up doing paste-up, inking and coloring on books that nobody read. When the company tanked suddenly, Linton found his way to the world of digital art ...
Peter J Crowley - Thirty five years of seeking the highlight. Thirty five years of self portraits. Visual questions and verbal images. Always asking Why? "How does a visual person define his life and work in words?" The soul of the artist is held in the negatives, every shot is a self portrait." -PJC Why? I have spent the last year or maybe more reflecting on my work over the thirty or so years I have been shooting. It is, at times, surprising and then not surprising at all that the actual images over the last years have been reflections. Why? I will let you know when I am sure. As a young artist there is so much new information to learn and teachers to please. Accepting that an image is cool is enough to make you strive to create more. There is no "Why", just on to the next assignment. At what point do you become an artist? How does one define the soul of an artist? My work, I hope, stimulates thought. I hope that my writing does also. I try not so much to offer answers, but to offer questions. Why? The more often you ask Why, the more you will ...
Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Joanna Batherson - My inspiration for art has come from drawing and the nature surrounding our world. My painting began as a hobby and through taking many courses and instruction from various Maine artists, traveling in USA and abroad, and moving to beautiful California,it has become a wonderful and fulfilling part of my life....
Paul Priem - "Internal visual expression, form the abstract works. Created in the moment from the subconscious." My paintings reflect the love of both the man-made and the organic visual influences that I had while growing up. In some cases I like to use bold bright colors. The electric primary colors often give a strong feeling. When the same colors are softly blended a soft almost tranquil feeling comes to mind. I like to use subtle and harsh edges and the illusion of texture, creating depth, and movement to form a composition. The elements of the painting all come together like a piece of music. Visual stimulation is the love of various abstract shapes, textures and form. "Internal visual expression, form the abstract works. Created in the moment from the subconscious." This sums up my approach to my paintings. This process allows me to escape the ordinary, the thoughtless routine. Not noticing the important and often subtle beautiful details around you. The details that are captured in thought and mental images and tucked away. When the viewer looks at my paintings they may interpret the work in the form of a feeling, or possibly a mood. You won't find a specific...

He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...
Peter Lembrechts - As You may have noticed by looking at the examples of my work on the right, I like drawing and painting in a realistic way, but most of my paintings have that surreal touch to it (maybe that's some kind of a "Belgian gene" ?) I was born in 1960, and studied Latin, Mechanics and finally ended up in Art School, because drawing and dreaming was the main thing I was always doing during my school years... (hope my daughters never read this!) Since I do love machines also, I started to work in a garage as a panelbeater after leaving school, doing a lot of sculptural work... Having seen a lot of rusty oldtimers, I wanted to paint those beautiful colours that make a carwreck unattractive to most people. You can find some examples of these on my website (

Nina Polunina - I like to make things bright. This is a very exciting activity to take an object person, car, building and pull out something that is not visible at first glance. It can be a story or a bright spot, or an unexpected form. In each of us lies the individuality and brightness. Over time, they fade over worries and life experiences. But they are. I want you, looking at my pictures, to be able to see it in yourself. This is what I am trying to bring to my adult students in the studio as well. That they are not afraid of life, bright colors and unexpected decisions....
