Artists Describing Their Art:

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my hand-pulled etchings and also serves as a key element in my art. My imagery originates from my own photographs and those of other artists. I research my subjects in the archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, museums, and foundations. I attempt to balance visual gravity with the narrations within everyday scenes . . . I hope to create a convergence between the metaphysical and physical aspects of space, time, and reflection. My examination of the familiar strives to unveil the splendors of life that are masked by our assumptions My stories emerge from beneath the surfaces of that which we overlook as a result of our neglected perceptions . . . of that which is frequently visible but overlooked. Ironically enough, I blame this inability to see reality . . . or what I call, the phenomenology of connectedness . . . on todays infatuation with and addiction to the new technologies of communication. I see my artworks as windows through which people can see the undiscovered mysteries of human consciousness. In fact, my use of multiple etching plates to create one etched design helps to reinforce the illusion of looking at a scene through a window. Each individual area created in my multiple-plate etchings becomes a ...

Herman Van Bon - To call him a landscape photographer is akin to describing Table Mountain as a large flat rock. To label him as a graphic artist also leaves much to be desired. A photo-graphic artist Unwieldy and lacklustre. The fact of the matter is that Herman van Bon as a photographer and as an artist is not easily pigeon-holed. Words fall short when describing his work and how he achieves it. In this case, his pictures are more than the sum of their parts. Although a good photographeraEURtms landscapes are far from flat, the observer does, in most cases, get what he or she sees a representation of a country or marine scene. So far, so good. For Herman, however, the capturing of a landscape is just the beginning. It is his playground. He starts to experiment and explore and play, using different kinds of photo-processing and aEUR"developing software and techniques, and, organically, his pictures begin to grow. Layer by layer, the original shot metamorphosises into something extraordinary. Textures, tones, figures, symbols, quirky composites, and what appear figments of the imagination to the eye are included. This process can take weeks. The result is a contemporary, deeply personal ...

Valda Fitzpatrick - I believe that art is a reflection of who you are as a person and artist. It is a culmination of ones experiences and exposure to life. Art has always been the heart of my soul. While growing up in Europe, I was exposed to a rich cultural environment. My fascination for flowers, their colors and shapes, trees, the alps, all are echoed in my work. Although abstract in form, the initial concept of my designs stem from reality. For wherever I go ,nature always follows me....

Anna Stoyanova - ABOUT ME Anna Stoyanova was born in Varna, one of the most beautiful cities in Bulgaria. She began to devote herself to art very early, reaching great results in self-taught drawing in black and white and especially in portrait, where she got the applause of his friends and observers. Since 2010 she has finally dedicated her attention at painting and at the process of elaborating a personal style that is increasingly effective. Taking the inspirations from the surrealist language, her brush strokes with a dreamlike look are in fact seeking a further emotion that does not disdain the figurative, but is nourished primarily by the abstract language built through the combination of colors. She starts her art career in Italy, where she lives from 2002. Already numerous art exhibitions in which his works have found space, including Exhibition of talents 31 May-12 June 2015, Art triptych 2 June 2015, Stories of women November 2015, LartA"donna 8 March 2016, Color 19-31 March 2016 Legalarte may 2016Rome, Fructidor 2-14 August 2017, WORK EDUCATION collaborating with art gallery Il Melograno , Livorno since 2016 Via Giovanni Marradi, 66, 57126 Livorno LI, Italia, collaboration with Il Trittico dArte 2015-2016....

SheaEURtms an author of 2 books on animal painting, available in 2 languages. Inspired by the essence of her subjects, she aims to capture their beauty and innocence. Though each painting has an unique story personal, mystical, funny or symbolic. Most of them are designed during travelling in nature, painting en plein air, combining various natural elements or dream-like impressions while doodling in her sketchbook. Therefor Marjoleins artwork is a direct expression of who she is, searching for more insight in life, beyond plain figuration of natures beauty. After her two art academies she studied animal communication and intuitive development, which enriches her artwork in many ways. Her pet portraits are in great demand in the Netherlands after multiple tv appearances. In 2018-2019 she will present a more symbolic and spiritual feel in her upcoming paintings. Marjolein exhibits international and has numerous publications. She publishes regularly. One of her two successful books on her animal art, is already in 5th print. David Larkins - I've always been intrigued by the luminosity and transparencies found in watercolor and acrylic mediums. I believe an artist must experience the painting - to absorb the surroundings, the atmosphere, to have a oneness with the subject matter before the first brush stroke is applied. My style is described as "Abstract Realism" and my strength is found in the composition. I'm drawn to diverse subject matter that challenges the viewer to see abstraction in the ordinary - to meld the "real" world with the "abstract". ...

Dennis Mccallum - For a number of years I was the UK Government protected species rehabilitator to the wild of injured birds of prey. In this time I was able to observe and handle wild birds and animals. They were my inspiration and provided the subject matter for my paintings. Having been a surveyor with the UK Ordnance Survey which makes the British maps, I was trained to represent images with accuracy and detail and this I do in my paintings from studying the birds at close quarters. I also have the freedom to explore any subject that interests me. My work has been challenging, but always enjoyable and that is my reason for painting...

Marsha Bowers - Marsha Bowers was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She is a classically trained fine artist, skilled in the old Masters techniques of Flemish/Bistre and Venetian method using a grisaille underpainting and glazing with many layers. Most of her fine art paintings are rendered in oil. She sometimes applies real gold leaf into the artworks. Marsha finds inspiration in the old masters of the past. She spends many hours visiting Museums studying their work. Gothic and Renaissance are her favorite periods along with the Pre-Raphaelites artists. The artist loves the blending of the classical painting techniques with a more contemporary approach to her paintings. Her recent fine art paintings are of women, both figurative and portraiture. The inspiration for her paintings comes from her observations of life itself and through her own experiences. Each painting shares a message, story or emotion. Its what the artist herself describes as a "flowing" of the spirit, a creative process through which the artist paints a story unto the canvas, realizing that each viewer of her work may have their own interpretation of what the art is conveying. Most recently Marsha was invited to be included into the International ...

Goksen Parlatan - As an artist, mosaic is a very practical way to express my thoughts, feelings and ideas even my hope. Working with the old techniques and giving innovation with creativity makes me happy in this area. Meanwhile mosaic always takes time and it gives me growth and strenght. Sometimes the work wears a different cloth than the first thought of it. So amazement and fun is always there. ...

John Sims - Following some thirty years working as a graphic designer and illustrator I began stone carving in 2000 and in 2002 I returned to college at Christ Church Canterbury in England to study BA Fine Art. In 2007 I went to the Cyprus College of Art to study for a Post Grad Diploma in Fine Art under the great Cypriot artist, Stass Paraskos. At the end of the course I was asked to stay on and run the Summer Schools and to be tutor on the Post Grad course. An incredible experience and an enormous influence on my work. My work now involves less stone carving more often found timber or kebab sticks My drawing in some respects has turned a full circle in the sense that prior to sculpture my illustration work was colourful but painstakingly detailed and stylised. At college I concentrated on measured observational life drawing in pencil which fed into the simple lines of my mainly figuratively based stone carvings. Whilst in Cyprus I re-discovered colour in both my drawing and sculpture. Dreams and mythology filled my waking and sleeping hours. Oil pastel and oil sticks became my favourite mediums to quickly capture these glimpses of ...
