Artists Describing Their Art:
Cheryl Brumfield-Knox - Artist Statement for Cheryl Knox My primary creative interests are nurtured through stained glass, pastel landscapes, jewelry, and the camera. My pastel images are usually of ethereal landscapes, from my imagination. They are often of a place where I'd like to be at that time or of a place I fondly remember. The frames I use for them are made from salvaged wood from structures destroyed by Hurricane Katrina, an awesome discovery. The authentic colors, uniqueness, reward of preserving of a bit of history-someone's life or past-and using these in a work of art, completes the creative circle for me. Of course, I also use traditional frames for pastels, but there is compelling beauty with the Katrina frames. Stained glass is a beautiful medium with endless creative potential. My stained glass images break with convention by incorporating beveled glass and Swarovski crystals into the designs, along with endless varieties of colored glass with their different reflective properties. These add another aesthetic dimension to a sunlit glass design in a window: cascades of rainbows dancing across a room. The interaction of sunlight and incandescent lighting with stained glass works is spellbinding to me. Creating jewelry, as a "...
Dragutin Barac - "The eyes are reflection of the soul" So and my art speaks about me. Sensitive and refined sense of observation created me as the artist with both, painting and photography skill.I started paint in watercolour technique. After I visited London and Amsterdam, where I spent three years, I slightly changed my view of life; started with another approach of art - PHOTOGRAPHY. Spending most of the time in different places, mainly by nature, I become fascinated with Mediterranean mysticism what is everywhere visible. I am a member of CROATIAN FREELANCE ARTISTS ASSOCIATION and CROATIAN FINE-ART ARTISTS ASSOCIATION. I have been working as freelance for a twenty years....
Carey Scott - I am a professional artist, wife, mother and cat lover. I work in various media although I probably favor Acrylic on canvas because I love bold flat color. I express myself in my art so my painting have many levels. They can appear almost childlike at first, which I love, but there is so much more. I don't detail the emotions behind the paintings. I want you to find your own reaction and emotions in them. Anyway, I hope you love them. ...
Maria Beadell - My art displays a mix of subject matter; from portraits to still-life. I prefer to focus on portraiture, so I paint portraits of my loved ones in a variety of poses and surreal contexts that best illustrates what they each mean to me. These paintings and sketches are highly personal. Surrealism is a big influence for me, and in several paintings I have paid homage to my favourite images and symbolism from Bosch, Kandinsky and Dali. I work in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, pencil, pastel and charcoal for sketches. In my gallery I've tried to include all examples of these, and works which demonstrate the different painting styles I like to experiment with. I paint as a hobby (my dream is to paint full-time) and am available for commission. Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoy my work!...
David Cuffari - I approach my work as a visual poem. Sometimes the meaning is simple and direct and other times it's more complex. I prefer to create work that is open-ended allowing the viewer their own interpretation of what I present. I am primarily a painter preferring to work in acrylics as it allows me to make rapid revisions which helps keep the work fresh and immediate. The over-arching theme of my artwork is the human condition. I see the fabric of life as woven in opposites. By employing dualities like order/chaos, rough/smooth textures, themes of life/death, controlled effects/happy accidents, rational/irrational imagery, I try to paint interesting pictures that allow the viewer to see the world a bit differently. I am also interested in the notion of time. I don't believe that time is linear but more like an echo. I try to avoid static imagery preferring to create a complex painting that unfolds as you look at it, with layers of imagery and meaning. I do this by preserving the process of editing and revision as I arrive at the final image. Most recently I've been proceeding without a pre-conceived ...

Christine Montague - Christine Montague is a professional award winning visual artist known for her portraiture commissions, figurative landscape art, and polar bear oil paintings. Why polar bears The character and spirit of the bears, their high intelligence think great ape, their solitary lifestyle, excellent mothering skills, their place in our world, and the very landscape they wander in, embodies all that I have tried to represent in my other artworks - spirit, character, intelligence, personality, solitude without loneliness, discovery, mindfulness, joy, beauty, escape. Travels to the Canadian arctic Iqaluit Cape Dorset in Nunavut and subarctic Churchill,Manitoba, Canada - polar bear capital of the world and my stay at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, furthered my education and wonder for these magnificent bears and the magical landscape and skyscape - the northern lights. Polar bears are definitely a canary in the coal mine symbol of climate change and my polar bear paintings often symbolize this potential for great loss as their numbers reduce. The effect vanishing ice has on the survival of the polar bear resulted in my series such as the Sink Swim Series. But other works simply pay tribute to this wonder animal in its magical, mysterious environment of frozen ...
