Artists Describing Their Art:
Michael Auger - I dream in vivid color and an assortment of animals with diverse and animated personalities are continuously filling up the inside of my head. I paint them into existence using unapologetically bold color and a thick, chunky acrylic that begs to be touched. My art obviously appeals to kids but it also appeals to adults who want to express their offbeat side. The characters I create have wild eyes and a slightly-off quality to them. I believe that the true test of art is if it succeeds in evoking emotion from the viewer. My paintings usually make people smile and sometimes even laugh. ThataEURtms a wonderful vindication which motivates me to create more. I also enjoy experimenting with alternative techniques. Many of my paintings reveal additional colors and effects when viewed in ultraviolet light.
