Artists Describing Their Art:

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Michael Pickett - We all have wonderful talents to bring to the World of art as artist. Your unique style and ambitions are greatly respected. We are empowered by the inspiration of our souls, inspired by the beauty of the world around us, and, in our way, changing the world. My goal as an artist is to make a difference in the world of art. I am color-blind and I have dyslexia. Having overcome many obstacles in my life then sharing my findings to those I run across. I am painfully shy when it comes to promoting myself to different galleries and organizations and that's why I've created my own portfolio web site. (www.pickettonline.com) Competition in the world of art is so high that good artist will eventually give up, not knowing that in there own way, they really are making a difference, Maybe not in the world, but in the local community or their family and friends. ...

Michael Garr - I have been drawing and painting since Junior High. I enjoy quick art, impressionistic yet realistic, and minimal. There are interesting subjects all around us. My inspirations are architecture, people, light and shadow, the sea and boats, imagination... and the old masters. Get out and enjoy your surroundings. All my works are available as signed and numbered prints. I also do commission works, some examples of which are in the portfolio. I donate all proceeds to charity (I have a day job). My opportunities for artistic expression have included drawing on napkins during airplane rides and waiting during my sons' music lessons. In 2012 I took up oil painting for the first time, and my mentor is Lorena Pugh of North Kingstown. I've done both Plein air and studio work in her presence, and am benefitting from the association. We have an informal group who meet and paint in Lorena's studio on Monday nights throughout the indoor season. I will continue to pursue art on a daily basis, and post the finished works here and on facebook for any and all to peruse. In 2003, I legally changed my name back to my original name, Michael Garr, so ...

Judith Smith Wilson - Welcome to the world of exotic animals and culture as seen through the eyes of this extraordinary artist. Follow the mood as Ms. Wilson leads you to the darkest regions of Africa and beyond.....She has been specializing in Animal Wildlife Paintings and portraits of people for over 40 years. She is a will known animal ecologist, and belongs to many wildlife organizations, including the East African Wildlife Society. Ms. Wilson has traveled to Kenya East Africa, and Rwanda East Africa, three times. She also has had the privilege to observe the endangered Mountain Gorillas in the Virunga Mountains, and all of Africa's wonderful wildlife. Ms. Wilson has cared for many injured wild animals, eventually releasing them back to their native habitat. One of these animals, a bobcat named "Precious" was not able to be released, and remained a beloved friend to her family for over twenty years. She has shown her work in Nairobi and Rwanda East Africa, and many Galleries in the United States over her 40 year career. Her work is currently being shown in San Diego, Los Angeles California and The Fine Art museum in Owensboro Kentucky. Also in Owensboro at'Gallery 412' and'Grey ...

Judith Smith Wilson - Lk Stimeling - In my work with heavy modeling pastes, clay and mache I reverse the process of revealing fossil and geological forms, laying down layer upon layer of materials, objects, and "artifacts" -- some hidden forever within the construction. Inspiration stems from concrete aggregate to highly polished gems and minerals with pauses along the way to document the things not often seen: undersides of rocks, stream margins and the fabulous minute constructions created by Nature Herself. In my two dimensional I strive to achieve the dynamic energy of the subject in line, volume, and color. A favorite artist is Walter Inglis Anderson who devised a unique way of seeing and painting nature. Look up! Look down! Look around!...

Daya Bonnie Astor - Summer 2009 Venezia- I am exploring movement. This is a play on words of "women's movement". I examine legs as a symbol of women moving forward to a goal. Legs can dance, walk, take steps (physical and mental); legs move in space. I am using mixed media (fabrics, canvas, paper, paints). The body of work is title "La Gambe che Supports" (the leg which supports). My series of fourteen works shows legs not interacting with any artifacts which would describe place, home or activity, besides movement. I sue color and texture to show variations and emotions within the legs. Another level of complexity for my artwork is site specific: Venice is fragile. Venice is a pedestrian city. Everyone walks, moves on fragile land. Workers commute to the lagoon, even the indigent and street vendors commute to select places to interact with the tourists. Since the ground is uneven here, one must pay attention to stones, concrete and the elements which make up our pedestrian surface. One must also pay attention to our support, our legs. Legs have expression, perhaps not as refined as hands and arms, and one can red expressions in legs. My subjects, women, walk through unifying ...

Kelly Goode - I start with things I find: pictures, letters, ads, fabric, idea fragments that belong to other people, and then I fill in the blanks with my own story. Working with collage makes me feel like I'm part of something bigger, and like I'm preserving the otherwise forgettable details of humanity in some small way. Schooled in photography and self-taught in painting and the rest, my most influential teachers are guts and sensitivity. My gut jitters when I know its good and sinks when it stinks. Sensitivity makes me vulnerable to emotions and perceptive to life and our history. When I tell people about my artwork I say "There's a little bit of me in there, there's a little bit of you in there"....

Kimberly King - Kimberly King's artworks are created within a theme of nature and ancient myth. The artworks are related everyday life and observation. Kimberly's work is a process in which an interpretation of visual language in sync with spirit takes place. ...

Kimberly King - Christine Montague - Christine Montague is a professional award winning visual artist known for her portraiture commissions, figurative landscape art, and polar bear oil paintings. Why polar bears The character and spirit of the bears, their high intelligence think great ape, their solitary lifestyle, excellent mothering skills, their place in our world, and the very landscape they wander in, embodies all that I have tried to represent in my other artworks - spirit, character, intelligence, personality, solitude without loneliness, discovery, mindfulness, joy, beauty, escape. Travels to the Canadian arctic Iqaluit Cape Dorset in Nunavut and subarctic Churchill,Manitoba, Canada - polar bear capital of the world and my stay at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, furthered my education and wonder for these magnificent bears and the magical landscape and skyscape - the northern lights. Polar bears are definitely a canary in the coal mine symbol of climate change and my polar bear paintings often symbolize this potential for great loss as their numbers reduce. The effect vanishing ice has on the survival of the polar bear resulted in my series such as the Sink Swim Series. But other works simply pay tribute to this wonder animal in its magical, mysterious environment of frozen ...

Eve Co - I began painting and drawing in 1987 and have not stopped. I have a wide range from, landscapes, still-lifes, hubble art (galaxies & nebulas), abstracts, florals, architectural art and so much more. I draw everyday and paint as much as I can afford. I paint more watercolors than acrylic and oil canvas art. I would prefer more canvas art, but I make do with what I have. I try to express myself in artwork as well as with words. I paint landscapes, the glorious colors of nature, water, the ever expressive sky and more, primarily with watercolors on paper. These paintings are usually thought out and planned because they represent nature as I see nature. I paint still-life's of everyday objects. To teach myself about one particular color, shading and or painting glass. (I think of still-life's as a learning process that literally has me pulling my hair out in frustration, but I still paint through how they make me feel. ). I am fascinated with Hubble Space Technology so, I paint galaxies and nebulas on canvas with acrylic paints. I have sold many of these paintings and I must admit they are some of my favorite...

Marc De Groote - One of the top 25 Canadian artist invited to compete in the Wildlife Habitat Canada Conservation Stamp Competition. Wildlife artist extraordinaire, come and experience wildlife art as you rarely will see today, Marc's extreme detailed artworks will amaze you. His ability to capture nature at its finest will allow you the experience of being at one with nature. I consider myself a realist artist, greatly influenced by the beauty of nature. The extreme detail created in the natural world is beyond comprehension. My primary objective is to capture that detail with the intent for viewers to contemplate these familiar visions from a different vantage point of being there with nature. To be able to get close to wildife is an near impossible task my art allows the viewer to experience the feeling of being real close. ...

Beauty, humor, and feelings are conveyed through her photographs, packing life's many emotions into every image. Kathryn's clients may be photo editors, art buyers, and advertising agencies to name a few....

Kathryn Mcgeorge - Renee Rutana - As a child, I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, the seasons, flowers and certain landscapes. But all of my life I have suffered from severe asthma. While the other children were outside enjoying the snow or jumping in the fallen leaves, blooming flowers of spring, etc. I was inside, looking out the window wishing I could be a part of it. I would never have acquired my artistic skills if it hadn't been for my asthma. I learned to draw and paint, due to many times staying home in bed or at the hospitals (for a couple weeks at a time)with not much to do. It was my escape, a cherished place I could create and imagine I was there instead. While these days my asthma is better, thanks to new medications, I still feel the joy in my heart of creating a special window to the world, my world, for those also interested to see too. My goal as an artist was to paint these subjects capturing the very things that change quickly due to the season or weather or aging. I wanted to shed light on every day things that many people take ...
