  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Randall Fox - I am interested in making visual statements about the interaction of time, history, cultures, memory, intellect, intuitions, experiences and the spiritual, in and on the human creative process. "inherent in all manifest in the few" Born: 1960 Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, Industrial Technology (Technical Management) California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo A.S. Degree Canada Collage, Redwood City, California (General Engineering-Pre Med.) Katie Pfeiffer - My goal or artistic process is to examine personal relationships and feelings in a humorous way using a multitude of imagery from everywhere. I like to mix up my drawing and paintings with found imagery to create something new. I look to imagery made for children ( especially school primers from the 50s and 60s) as well as stickers to express my naive and child like look at "Adult" subjects. Exploring mysteries of my own desires as well as comment on the stereotypes which exist in female and male relationships. I want my art to envelope the viewer with color, humor and feeling. In the past few years I have started to explore the relationship of light and dark and the association with positive and negative emotions as well as make several collections of "ugly" paintings with text which explore my personal relationship with men, family and people in my life. All my art is original and I do not list prints or copies of my work. Most of my paintings are done in inks or acrylics. ...

Solange Berger - StatementA In our busy life, I dream to make you see and look at life through my paintings. I always strive to capture the beauty of creation.A People are my source of inspiration. I hope you will travel with me, dance with the dancer and enjoy living. Painting is for me a process of joy, peace, excitement and challenge.A But most of all, speaking without words, expressing feelings without speech... BiographyA Born in Switzerland in 1969, Solange Berger's childhood included drawing and music. Even after earning a degree in architecture, Solange found herself drawn more to the artistic nature of the profession than to the technical side of it.A Five years later, after receiving a box of paint as a birthday gift, she found herself awakening to her artistic talents. After some self-teaching, she moved with her husband to the United States. Over the following three years, she studied under famous California-based teachers -- and her artistry blossomed. In 2000, Solange began to show and sell her work with the San Francisco Bay Area's Abbey Foundation for the Arts.A Returning to her homeland in 2001, Solange Berger continued to express herself through painting, inspired by impressionist painters ...

Solange Berger - Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Claire Petit - In my work, beings of dream and intimacy migrate slowly to the merry-go-round of birth, death, and rebrith. Different periods and series rub shoulders in my decades of paintings. Duality breathes deeply, and from one life to the next, powerful feminine energy dominates moving, introspective, multiple, often wrapped in a gentle violence. Since 1989, I have been traveling and working between France and the United States. I had my first solo show in 1999 at the 24 Gallery in New York City. In 2004 my work was represented and exhibited at the Grant Gallery. In 2005 I left for Mexico, where I maintained a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, my work was represented and exhibited by the Opera Gallery in New York City. During those years I regularly painted in New York. Since 2010 my work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg Metz. My studio is in Nancy, where I live. Sara Adrian - Iconic art, the symbols of alchemy and the mythology of culture has always held an interest for me. I use color and symbols combined with familiar imagery to talk about social issues and stereotypes. There are specific ideas that I present in my work, but I feel it's very important not to be too specific as I want the viewer to come to their own conclusions as to what my art is trying to say. My purpose is to make the viewer think about what they see and what they believe in, and create a dialogue. The media I use in painting is oil and acrylics mixed in with metallic substances, such as gold or aluminum leafing, iron oxide, or metallic tinted paint, combined with strong design and chroma. I want the work to react to the light changes in the environment, and be an active participant in the space. The strong color combined with the wood I prefer to paint on is to echo the medieval byzantine iconic painting of which I find much inspiration. It's important to me to combine aesthetic with content, and this is what I work to achieve. ...

Laurie Pagels - "I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do" -- Leonardo DaVinci Today must not be a souvenir of yesterday, and so the struggle is everlasting. Who am I today? What do I see today? How shall I use what I know, and how shall I avoid being victim of what I know? Life is not repetition. (Robert Henri)...

Ronnie Caplan - Presented in a myriad of mixed medias and emotions, with modish subjects and series, my work ultimately evokes poignant ruminations on art in the streets, with new portrayals of hackneyed tourismo topics, found rhapsodies in the everyday mundane scenes, and, by looking ever so closely, finding buried beauty and covert charm where no one is used to seeing it. Composition and color play a large part in unearthing the esoteric appeal and symmetry to be found in atypical urban and landscapes . . . ...

L Gonzalez - I draw whenever the urge hits me. When moments of quiet descend upon me, I find a bit of digital fingerpainting eases any mood. My current artistic endeavors are digitally oriented. I find that digital media makes the creation process for an artist that much easier. I started with traditional media but found myself draw in by the ease of digital art. I use a number of software to create my works. Most of the works on this site were created with "Expression" by Creature house. It's a versatile illustration program. I also use Bryce 4 for 3D rendering, Adobe Photoshop (I have 6.0) and Painter Classic. The latter is a very nice software that allows you to fake oil painting, watercolor and other traditional media. It's very handy for practicing at traditional arts w/o the messy clean up and hassles. I've also begun using Terragen for 3D scenery. If not for the game Myst, I probably never would have attempted digital art. It was my interest in the creation of the game Myst that peaked my interest in digital art. With the help of friends and acquaintances online who were also intrigued with digital ...

David Rocky Aguirre - ************** To me, Art seems to be a universal language. It can be used to portray something beautiful and uplifting, or to portray a tragedy to motivate and move people to act. To motivate them to help in some way as in Picasso's "Guernica 1937". I have a wide range in creative interests, from most forms of painting- oil to watercolor and on to print forms, sculpture, photography, film and computer animation. Contact me for any creative projects you may have....

Bruce Naigles - From a philosophical standpoint, all that we perceive in the world of form is an outer expression of an inner dynamic. Though my work is predominantly figurative, I find it to be the art of giving form to the formless; ideas, emotions, relationships, events. These are by their very nature intangible and essentially abstract, though they continually alter and effect our physical reality. We read them through our intuitive understanding of body language, much as snow blown about on a winter's day reveals the invisible movement and form of the wind. To 'clothe' these subliminal qualities in human figures and bring them forth in a sculpture, whether it be a simple figure inspired by a model's beauty or an allegory of our human condition, is the basic goal and driving force in my work. ...

Dariya Afanaseva - All my works are dedicated to the themes of relationship and sensation translated on a language of painting. For example, relationship between people. Relationships human about him/her self and to outward things. And some of my works are about memories and thoughts. And also it is interesting for me to reproduce an eluding moment, an impression in a matter of seconds, fragments of life. Just because everything depends on nuance. Three main styles I work in are abstractionism, expressionism and a bit of pop-art. But these styles are not just as they are, it`s always a combination of them. Some of my Abstract works represent things that aren't visual, such an emotion, mood, feeling, sound and so on. These works are very association. My figurative abstractions are simplifications of reality, where detail is eliminated from recognisable objects leaving only the essence or some degree of recognizable form. Some works are expressive. I just let my intuition guide me. Not to thinking, not to be doubt of anything. It is about trusting the process and setting free the instincts. And also I like decorativeness and beauty of coloring. My choice of medium are acrylic and mixed media ...

Deborah Wilson - ARTIST STATEMENT - DEBORAH WILSON Ii?1/2m a native of Missouri, but, my husband and I have taken many opportunities to experience other areas of the US and our neighboring countries. So, my artwork is influenced by all of those cultures and environments which we have spent time in. This includes cross-country camping and hiking trips, which dip into Canada or Mexico, along with various missions trips, working vacations and temporary residences. We have gone on working vacations for extended time periods in USVI (St. John) and Yellowstone National Park. And, my husband and I were dual residents of Missouri and Hawaii for about 5 or 6 years. So, as you can imagine, there is great diversity of subject matter and I need several more lifetimes to paint everything that is wanting to be painted! Some paintings have been done in our camper, some in a makeshift studio in the closet, on the floor or on the dining room table. Here in Missouri, I have a studio separate from our house on our land, just outside of Springfield. Who we are and whatever is in our hearts tends to come out in our artwork. So, you will find a lot ...
