Artists Describing Their Art:

Teresa Rodero Valero - Since I was a child I have liked to draw every piece of paper at hand, and for me that moment was like being in a different world, everything around me stopped. As a teenager I discovered photography and macrophotography; and the time spent in the dark room was very pleasant seeing things appear on the paper, as they were being developed. The next following years I was teaching Spanish to foreigners, but one day I realized that I wanted to continue drawing and painting, and here I am. Now I am completly dedicated to the world of the Fine Arts. I like to do my works by series, botannical, landscapes, sculptures, abstracts... one can see easily my evolution. Perhaps looking through the lens of the camera has influenced my way of painting, and seeing the world as a theme to be interpreted. I may combine reality with photography, photography with computer and interior world etc, it depends on the mood. Lately I have discover the possibilities that the computer offers to my work, I find it very useful to do my sketchs and then materialize them on linen or whatever the support may be. Now I teach young people ...

Dana Zivanovits - Dana Zivanovits was born in 1958 in Columbus, Ohio and received his art training from the Columbus College of Art and Design (1978 to 1982). After art school, he went abroad for a year and studied the art of the old masters in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome and Venice. Returning to his studio in Columbus to develop these influences into a new body of work, he then traveled to Mexico and studied the sculpture and painting of that country for an extended period. The unique and vivid colors of Palenque and Vera Cruz intensified his palette. After a period in Ohio, he then moved to Venice Beach, California where the brilliant light of the region reinforced his desire to capture effects of sunlight and atmosphere. Returning to Ohio in 1995, he has continued to paint themes deriving inspiration form sources such as world mythology, classic and B-grade cinema, literature and dreams. However his primary inspiration is direct observation from nature, versus an approach based in art theories or cultural critique. Dana has been widely represented by galleries and exhibition projects including Julie Rico and Mega Boom in Los Angeles, the Venice Art Detour, Around the Coyote Festival in Chicago ...

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Peter Sukosd - The feelings I illustrate on the canvas can vary on the scale of the moods, by reaching the peak point of them and then sliding down gradually to the depression and emotional deepness itself. This conflict and contradict that I always try to visualize on my paintings, that shows that every feeling is a mixture of its opposite, and thus you can never find reconciliation in them, you can just accept their existence as they are. This acquisence and reconciliation to this fact makes my paintings that solid every time, after illustrating all the possible limits of the human emotions in one circle, limiting it to the canvas itself I am painting to. Finally as related to the methods I paint let me just say that I am only the tool of the feelings I want to highlight and the painting is the best way for me to do it, consequently I play only a minor role in the whole process, where the impressions take the main role....

Norma Poulos - I wear many hats in the art field - artist, instructor, author and TV personality and enjoy all of them. My work spills over many techniques and mediums - oils, acrylics and watercolors in the realistic, the impressionistic and creative realms. My Absolute Arts portfolio is composed of a Pot Pouri of techniques along with a sprinkling of portraits. National and International students are taught through my "Norma Poulos Teacher's Certification Home Study Course." Bernhard Oberdieck - Here I introduce you to my work as illustrator. I specialize in children's book illustrations and have been published by German as well as foreign publishers. The best known of my works were created in collaboration with Michael Ende. I also draw for advertising projects and packaging illustrations, and many of the children's book illustrations are used in the vast merchandising field. My illustrations can be seen worldwide in exhibits and are sought by many collectors. I would be pleased to know if my homepage is to your liking. If you would like to purchase an original, please send me an e-mail or simply give me a call. In the United States I am represented by Carol Bancroft & Friends....

Jorge Gallardo - "Creating beauty through art" is the theme of my artwork. My art is something that I love to share with the world; an expression of myself. The main message I convey is beauty; beauty is a universal quality associated with harmony of form or color, excellence of craftsmanship or originality. These qualities embody my art. I want you to view the painting or drawing and be part of it; if it makes you feel happy, inspired or uplifted, I've accomplished my goal....

Cheryl Finfrock - Artist Statement Dreams inspire my work. Images ranging from public domain icons to archaic glyphs fascinate me. With high voltage colors I search for a visual language of universal archetypes. The creation and deconstruction of this language occurs through the physical act of painting. In my recent work, color, texture, and layering become the psychology of expression. Fauvism, Expressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and Carl Jung influence me. Specific influences are Edvard Munch, James Ensor, Paul Klee, Georges Rouault, Rainer Fetting, the CoBra painters and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Cheryl Finfrock ...

Cheryl Finfrock - Elra Norris-Gattermeir - I have been taking photos since I was a kid and have lived in and photographed the wonders of 17 of the states of the US. For more than 30 years I have pursued a love of nature, trees, and flowers, capturing that love on film. In 1999 I opened up shop as ELphotos to sell decor and stock photography (for promotional and editorial use). I also design note cards from my photos as well as make key chains, magnets, gift inserts and bookmarks of my favorite images. Until December 2003, I lived with my sister (Sally), two parrots (Falco and Faun), an iguana (Clarence) and two 3-foot ragdolls (Frank and Rich) whose tiny possessions littered the entire house. That conglomeration made a bevy of photographic subjects if I didn't have a mind to step into the outdoors. I am now married and reside in Illinois, just south of Chicago. I use my Nikon and a Canon digital camera to relax and wind down from the day's strife and, hopefully I can snap some pictures others will enjoy. I am a member in good standing of Tri-State Arts Association, Professional Photographers of West Virginia, the International ...
