  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Ko Bhamra - The most beautiful part is that it invents itself. Simultaneoulsy, it re-invents us. The most intriguing part is that it is re-occuring: continuously becoming - therefore necessarily evolving and revealing. It is shameless because it reveals itself through us without permission, without the necessity of qualification and without the consent of choice. It is bold because it will simply arrive. Its existence is self-sustaining because its essence transcends us. It hungers only for our presence. When its passion beings to dance-we become its frenzy. When we dance in its frenzy we become its fantasy. When the energy becomes synergy-we transmit chaotic bursts. These bursts fuse into pulses that emanate and illuminate the impulses and intuitions that guide us. The visions are moments that actually exist. They transcend time so they are actual glimpses of a timelessness. When we free ourselves to submission we become one with creation. It is here that art and life merge and become one and the same moment. It is here that art will breathe with us and inform us of itself and ourselves. It's like magic. Art. Art is like magic. KKB 1999...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Deborah Paige Jackson - I love art and design in all forms and medium, in every aspect of my life. It's a part of who I am and something I can't get away from. I try to use true to life situations when possible. My favorite medium is watercolor because of the beauty of it. It seems to have a life of it's own as it flows and connects with the paper. Yet, the medium forces me to think and use extraordinary control. I am at a point in my life where the thought of art, design, and all the components involved in them consume my thinking. It shows up in my home in decorating, in my garden with landscaping, in my work, even with my family. I look forward to increasing my art presence in my portfolio here and in as many venues as possible. To all who view my work, I wish you much enjoyment. ...

Ron Anderson - Working as an illustrator and painter for more than 20 years, I have often utilized the figure in narratives to communicate the nature of the human condition. I give each of my characters a role in my paintings that plays out like a scene from a motion picture. Carefully scripted by a personal experience, these characters go about their lives like you and me. Many of my paintings depict tension or energy in some way. The tension is exhibited in an attitude, an action or in some activity on the canvas. The tension is either overt or more kinetic, but is almost palpable in each piece of artwork. The size of my paintings, along with some personal connection, pulls you into the canvas. The drag of an alto saxophone fills the room in one painting while the noise deafens you; the smoke chokes you. A fight breaks out in the corner of the room on another canvas while a pool hustler wins a round. The subjects are infinite. Henry O. Tanner, John Sloan, and George Bellows were masters at observing and translating these types of human conditions onto a canvas in oil. My technique, drawn from what I have observed ...

John Powell - Artist Statement This body of work comes from a community of ideas. My art evoke a dialogue, a message as a language I speak, to create peace in a cosmic dialogue. It speaks in the future tense in a context of time that evoke a feeling of aEUR~time passesaEURtm... The emotional and psychological content of my subject, the way the body expresses its emotion, it contextualizes the concepts of the duality of the meaning of the imagery. My style is an expression of my philosophy which becomes a language using, Post Modern, Expressionism, Latin American Tradition, Surrealism, and soft Classism. It expresses my deep awareness of global issues and is counterbalanced with my cultural heritage. My inspiration originates from lifenature, itaEURtms too spiritual to express. However, it is the same expressive energy as the work transfused between energies which awaken the realms of these energies and evoked them in dialogueaEUR| . I use a certain iconography, which becomes a language. My art has helped me to see that nothing on earth is solitary, all things are interlinked. The unique expression in my art, is an attitudelanguage of my style but is easily understood in itaEURtms emotion. My art Carries ...

Dennis Duncan - A lifelong student of contemporary realism, I utilize various mediums to create art that stimulates the mind , body, and soul of each individual. By incorporating these three basic principles into each subject matter , at times the imagery takes on a "surrealist" aspect , "meditative", even "spiritual"... I've tried incorporating industrial products and textured mediums into my presentations, adding an "urban edge" to my body of work. . ...

Pol Ledent - I am a self-taught artist. I was born in Belgium o, 23rd October 1952. I started painting in 1995 . I took some drawing lessons in the art academy in Dinant. I try to paint the landscapes of the countryside where I am living : the southern part of Belgium. Firts I took part in many collective exhibitions . Than, I had personal exhibitions in Rochehaut (Galerie La Potele), in Dinant (Galerie L'impression), in Paris (Rive Gauche Galerie Artimus) in Brussels (Galerie G-Loft).In 2004, I had three exhibitions, again In Rochehaut, galerie La Potele in May. Then, in September Exhibition Libr'art in Libramont. In November, Galerie Impression in Dinant. What people like most in my paintings are the colours. My art doesn't speak to the intellect but to the soul and to the feelings. Talink the risk to seem old fashioned , I would say it is rather romantic. I wish you much pleasure looking at my paintings. Pol Ledent ...

Martin Glick - As a realistic sculptor I have often been accused of running against the tide of the more modern and abstract movements, but if you take a good look at the work the design is abstract. The look of the work may be, at first glance academic or classical, but the composition is very much in today's idiom. There is a strong sense of movement. Even in the symmetrical sculptures you feel as if they are about to move, like a stop motion camera. They all invite invite you to walk around and see the other side. There is often a strong emotional element and or a narrative. In some sense I am a story teller. Even when viewing one of my portraits you see the subject. Their history and personality is in their face for you to see and to react to. I have been told that my sculptures have something that is unique. There is a twist to the norm, a twist of the form, an emotional element that is mine. It is my heart and my particular view of the world. No price quoted on a sculpture means that it is at a gallery. Lucille Coleman - Although I'm able to produce other imagery, the figure has been my main subject. I believe that if an artist can capture and express the figure well, he can master any subject. I have explored the following themes to name a few: chic erotica, forms of dance such as latin and hip-hop, the family, conceptual themes pertaining to people in business, men and women in positive leadership roles and societal issues. I enjoy painting subjects and themes by using a loose, bold, direct and painterly brushstroke or flat graphite strokes over a solid drawing. Spontaneity and making visual statements by the "less is more" method is very gratifying for me. In addition, the chiaroscuro lighting of subjects fascinates me and I never tire of its effects of light and shadow. I am influenced by the works of Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargeant, Caravaggio and other painters of his era, Wassily Kandinsky, Phillip Corey, Impressionism, and many great illustrators. ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style.
