  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Sylva Zalmanson - Before I became a painter, before I even thought I could, I would look for long hours at the pictures painted by beloved artists and feel their deep pain. I felt that I was not the only one in this world that had a desperate need to make everyone cognizant of this sorrow. Can anything be more important than irresistible art luring and hypnotizing down through the generations with its mysterious riddle and its genius magic touch....

Barry Boobis - Musical Visions is a body of work devoted to all themes of Music. These themes traverse the worlds of jazz, dance, rock, nature, spirit, and beyond. These musical themes are explored in the universes of realism and abstract, often combining both at a level of Spirit. Having practiced Zen meditation I see all mediums of art as One, which is derived from the ancient Buddhist scriptures. My Greatgrandfather wrote the "Hatikvah," national anthem of Israel, and my father was a jazz piano player, as well as a commercial artist, so the genetic splicing is readily obvious. The heritage of music, as well as art and spirit informs the work, and I offer it as a form of celebration of heightened sensibility. Joyousness, rapture, and expression, not just existence! As artist- in- residence at the Bluenote jazz club in NYC, and a participant in the Newport Jazz Festival and the Saratoga Jazz Festival for many years, I have had the great opportunity to bring this work to lovers of music as well as art throughout the Eastern Seabord of the USA. I now welcome the opportunity to bring it to the world- at- large through absolutearts.com. Please celebrate with me! ...

Dusanka Badovinac - My art is me, everything I see or feel. Creating balance in power and sensitivity in my art is my never ending challenge. My goal is always to capture the feeling, to feel it intense and share it with others. The joy and passion for art I am sharing nowadays with my students and that became my new source of inspiration. ...

John Neville Cohen - PAINTING WITH LIGHT 'Painting with light' is all about photographing projected images that surprisingly are not often projected on to a screen. John discovered the projector really is a magical magic lantern! Computers and digital images were unknown at the time when some of his finest pictures were created (some of them nearly 50 years ago). Yet they have stood up to the test of time and are still considered exceptional, making quite a statement! It was by chance, seeing an image projected, partly on the curtains and wallpaper that started this unique art form. By moving the projector and focusing on to other objects, noting how they distorted the image and influenced the texture and shape, led to the idea of photographing what could be seen. Then by adding more projectors he was also able to blend different images too and so 'painting with light' began. John started with an idea and experimented with various images, but he explained that sometimes something unforeseen happened, that sent him down a totally fresh route to create a very different picture than was originally planned, it is these 'inspired accidents' that have since turned out to be his very best works. The ...

Al Shaikh Aldaw - My artworks are usually a composition of crowded figurative such as dancing , parties ,or downtown's streets searching for movement , also I like working on landscapes . women are my lovely items , using an impressionist style .Moreover I paint abstract and Islamic abstract using Islamic decorative symbol ...

David Fedeli - "I believe that as an artist, it is not my purpose to dictate what the viewer sees on the canvas, but rather to pose a question that causes them to seek an answer within themselves. Each individual brings their own life experiences into the decision, and for each of them the meaning is truly unique. My passion lies in reaching that inner self, and drawing it into, and out of, my art. My goal is to create a moment that touches their soul."...

Carolyn Saunders - CAROLYN SAUNDERS Artist STATEMENT: I am an Artist who has had the opportunity to be working in business, education and retail. I am confident my experience in those very different areas of employment, I have obtained and sharpened my interpersonal and entrepreneurial skills. I am a skilled artist in several different media, pencil, ink, pastel, photography, acrylics and oils. I am currently working on a high end jewelry line. My first love is drawing and painting in oils or acrylics. My favorite subjects are portraits of people and animals in the various media. ...

Stephen Fessler - Artist's Statement: Visionism All my images are born accidentally. I tack my studio dropcloths onto the wall once they've become sufficiently splattered with paint, and search the surface for suggestions. I'll discover an image within a tangle of marks, and paint to free it, an archaeologist unearthing an artifact. This process leads to related discoveries, and the more I find, the better I understand the space they inhabit, and a painting is underway. In this way does the painting gradually reveal its content and mood. Everything I like of the art I've seen, Eastern and Western, ancient and modern, sacred and profane, ends up in my work. It must be that, as I gaze at my randomly stained surfaces, these remembered images give clues as to what to look for. The larger canvases are free-hanging, fitted with grommets and intended to be tacked directly to the wall like a tapestry or banner. Smaller works on canvas are mounted and stretched so as to preserve their irregular edges. Stephen Fessler Artists' Statement: Directed Perception My mode of seeing changes when something has caught my attention. My "directed perception" chooses what I will see while obscuring everything...

Malcolm Tuffnell - Malcolm Tuffnell Is a tremendous talent in contemporary figurative painting. His works exist between a realistic drawn representation of the female figure and an abstract use of impasto and color. He has been exploring the possibilities of oil paint and pastel for over 30 years, with particular attention paid to how color layers interact with eachother; specifically how thin overglazes of a strong color, for example phthalo blue or rose red, can change the character of the paint or pastel underneath them in unexpected ways, producing many new colors while neutralizing others into grays. He has chosen the female form as the subject of his paintings for its beauty, sensuality and historical precedent. He uses the fluidity of oil to express the sensuality of nude skin. Many of his works derive inspiration from the frequent opera and ballet performances he attends, such as Madame Butterfly and The Nutcracker ballet. However, he does not intend to illustrate a story explicitly but instead to suggest a more vague emotional narrative. Education/Accomplishments From 1977-1979 Mr. Tuffnell attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and studied with noted teacher Gary Brown; when there he traveled to Europe, where he was inspired to ...

Dune Tencer - I have been told that I need to find a style, a theme, or a signature look to my art. Well I have. I love painting the landscapes of America's Southwest and my home state of Texas. I love painting the texture, color and size. Now that being said I find painting abstract and inks very freeing, relaxing and the inks are just down right fun. On occasion the canvas has a mind of its own and a painting just wants out. A good example of this can be found in the Geisha. My daughter challenged me to paint a really big painting. I had a roll of canvas, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. Overwhelmed by the size I threw on some black paint and some red paint, spread it around. I then hung it from the ceiling of the studio and stepped back. There she was all I had to do was the finishing embellishment and 45 minutes later there stood the "GEISHA". This is not the sort of thing that happens often but what fun when it does. I hope you enjoy seeing my art as much as I do making it. Thank you. ...
