Artists Describing Their Art:

Debbi Chan - I am going to do an updated artist's statement. But until I submit it you have a short temporary one. As an artist I an fullfilled and contend. But at the same time I seek more , absorb more, and enjoy more. Art fills and fullfills me..I am always being an artist. My eyes see art always. This is not a hobby that I partake of when time suits. Art feeds me. Art consoles me. And being prolific it also takes my time. And for this I am thankful that i listened to my inner self. I am thankful for a following that grows by the minute. I enjoy you enjoying my portfolio. I also have come to realize that the coined phrase "starving artist" is a reality for some of us. But if you take another quote, my own , you will see that starving and rich pertain to material $. because of you the viewers , and because art is my life and my passion I can truly say that I AM RICH.. RICH WITH NO MONEY... and I can also say with truth that I am happy. I chose the path that allowed this rich life. There will continue ...

Ollie Lett - For the last few years I have been living in the vibrant city of London, England. Its a far cry from the rural landscape of Herefordshire in the west of England where I grew up. My cat paintings have been exhibited frequently around London and have built up quite a following, even published into greetings cards through Galleryfive Ltd. I work with acrylic paint onto usually canvas and occassionally onto paper. Any queries please don't hesitate in contacting me. For more work - www.oliverlett.co.uk ...

John Tooma - This site is only a guide to my artworks, you will appreciate them alot more when they are seen in real life. As a Painter and Graphic Designer/Illustrator, art is everything to me. It's wonderful to have the ability to draw and paint what the eye can see. As an observer, I love to sketch in my pads and photograph most subjects transferring the visual information onto paper, canvas or the computer. I use both film and digital photographic equipment. I draw and paint virtually everything but my passion lies with the human body. I use most mediums such as pencil, pastel, charcoal, ink, watercolour, gouache, acrylic and oil paints. I am for ever experimenting. I also work with traditional airbrushing methods, as well as using the computer airbrushing technique. It is an absolute pleasure to share my passion with you and to speak about it through art. I enjoy sketching people whilst sitting in cafes. I am forever mesmerised with the colours of birds, the pigments of flowers and the reflection of light onto surfaces. I am influenced by many painters, from Raphael to Matisse, Dufy to Klimt and many others. So sit back, grab a coffee ...

June Stokely - "The Crawford Dog Series" some of which are pictured here was inspired by George Rodrigue's Blue Dog. Fashioned after an actual stray dog in the small town of Crawford, the dog was affectionately named "Crawford" by a veterinarian who lived there....

Seda Baghdasarian - Vision: My vision for life is to advocate the beauty of our world. To promote education for disadvantaged regions as well as foster healing though artistic expression and spiritual study. Artist Statement- As an artist, I hope to capture the essence of beauty in our world- Connecting the viewer to the higher realms of humanity, their love, their aspirations for dreaming their world into being- Aiming to see with the eyes of the heart- for rising above the contrasts of everyday life. The light of spirit is very healing- whether it is the warm afternoon sun on a gracious monument, or the quiet stillness in the land, elements of being: earth, air, fire and water, all move and transform us. I see the world through gratitude and inspiration. I hope this painting inspires your own sacredness, reminding you of your own beauty and authenticity. So thus we connect to the traditions of our past, no matter what our background or belief system. We raise our consciousness to that of forgiveness, kindness, generosity and compassion for our fellow human beings, honoring those who walked and tilled the land before us. Let us walk in beauty In Joy, Seda studiosedafineart.com ...

Jane Spence - Living in Brunei has enabled me to rediscover my artistic skills and to explore new subjects. It was through becoming an immigrant to an unfamiliar culture, that I noticed the non human groups who were coexisting closely with the local population, whilst effectively invisible. These were the stray dogs and the macaque monkeys. Both these groups were interesting to me because of their proximity to urban centres, shops, car parks, all the locations that humans regularly visit. Travelling around SE Asia I have experienced the various ancient Hindu, Buddhist and animist cultures in Bali, Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. The sacred art and dance of these regions, and the significance of Hanuman, King Monkey further interested me in monkeys as a subject. The supermarket monkey troupe has provided handy models in a fascinating juxtaposition of wild animal and imposed urban environment. I am also interested in exploring the physical shapes of the monkeys; their flexibility, strength, their expressive limbs. Having had a break from painting for several years, I am re experiencing the quality of materials and their potential. I really enjoy the process of using the paint; colour mixing, the textures, the mark making, even the smell! The work I ...

Richard C O Lovesey - I am a self taught artist working exclusively with coloured and pastel pencils. My main subject areas are aviation art and commissioned portraits. I commonly accept commissions featuring dogs, cats, horses, people and are willing to consider any subject. Unique greetings cards, Giclee prints, keyrings, Fridge Magnets, Notelets and Personalised Stationery featuring your commission can also be ordered. I also produce fine art Giclee prints, greetings cards, keyrings, fridge magnets and notelets featuring my other work and these can be personalised and printed to order....

Ti Tolpo Bader - Ti (pronounced Tee) Tolpo Bader is a portrait and landscape artist living in Prescott, Arizona. She has been a full-time studio artist since 1986. For over 20 years, Tolpo Bader has created commissioned artworks throughout the United States and parts of Europe. Her over 950 commissions have been live portraits, posthumous portraits, family portraits, genealogical portraits, pet portraits, residential portraits, landscapes, historical vignettes, and portrait collages. Tolpo Bader has lived on the Eastern Seaboard, the Midwest prairie, in the high regions of the Rocky Mountains. She now resides in Prescott, Arizona. A self-taught artist, Tolpo Bader started drawing and experimenting with various mediums at an early age. She was exposed to the artist's life and the freedom of expression while growing up in the family art studio of parents Carl and Lily Tolpo of Chicago, Illinois. Because Tolpo Bader posed as a portrait subject for many of her parents' studio projects, she understands portraiture from the point of view of the sitter. Tolpo Bader developed her love of landscapes and animals during annual family summer-long painting and camping trips to Yellowstone and other National Parks. Ti Tolpo Bader studied art through the years with her professional ...

Patti Meador - I first became interested in digital photo manipulation about a year and a half ago with the onset of a disability allowing me time, and a need to express myself creatively. My interest in digital photography was born with the gift of my first digital camera (Olympus C4000) for Christmas 2002. My'hobby' has since escalated to a full fledged passion! The opportunities for artistic expression available with digital imaging (cameras and software) are endless, and with God's grace my intention is to explore them all til my dying breath! I live with my husband of 30+ years, and 3 dogs (2 Boston Terriers and Boxer) in a small village in Ohio (US). I do hope that all who view my work take a small portion of the inspiration that I felt in it's creation away with them. More of my work can be seen on my various web sites, and prints, apparel and various gift items available via my Zazzle and Printfection shops, as well as select works on Art.com and Allposters. Please feel free to click on the links at the bottom of this page for more examples of my work, including before/after examples ...

Jynja Calderon - I have always lived spontaneously and with passion in all things that I do. My mother said it best, "You can do or be anything you want, as long as you put your mind to it." Armed with this knowledge, and my parents support throughout my life, whenever I wanted something, if I couldn't afford it, I would make it. I love the challenge of those who doubt my creativity. It only fuels my passion from making animal sculpture and furniture to installing floors and walls. And above all I love to challenge myself. In art, as in nature, I find the beauty is in the flaw. For without it, there is no conversation. Even with perfection, one is always looking for some small incongruent subtilties, and admires even more, if there are none to be found. It is human nature and spirit that makes us question, learn and focus on that which interests us. And it is our passion that brings interest to any canvas, medium or subject that we choose to explore. I believe that there is an artistic nature in each us, and given opportunity, one can bring forth that passion and expression. What I love ...
