Artists Describing Their Art:
Roger Farr - Born in Much Wenlock Shropshire, England 1957.One of 14. My family life and upbringing was in the countryside. Always having a love for wildlife and animals, Archibald Thorburn,Fenwick Landsdowne,Raymond Harris Ching,David Shepherd,Rembrant and Mary Cassat were great influences in the early stages and latter stages of my work, this was complimented with having a grandfather who was an artist and a father who was a gamekeeper. Much of my work was self taught up to the age of 18, this was when my first sale of original paintings took place in Salt Spring Island, Canada.Bought by a collector of wildlife paintings who had noticed my work through a member of my family who lives there. In 1985 I started to work for Shropshire Trust For Nature Conservation, providing illustrations of wildlife subjects for schools and colleges. My work started to be recognised and other opportunities arose including other wildlife and community based projects. Whilst visiting Shropshire Conservation Group one day, David Attenborough commented that I should develop this skill further. So in 1993 after a four year course I obtained a BA(Hons) in Visual Communication, specialising in Illustration at Wolverhampton University. On graduating ...

Matthew Jacoby - I strive to create beautiful objects that help reveal the miraculous nature of being to the appreciative spectator. Images can serve where words can fail in the conveyance of this experience. Creating such art helps me to experience the miracle myself....
Alla Alevtina Volkova - Throughout my whole life I always found myself drawing or painting when i have free time. I was always especially attracted to oil paintings, because they seemed to be alive. Valentina Vaillant - I started with just a box and a cut out piece for a window. That day 10 years later I realized Art was in my blood. I graduated from New York Academy Of Art. With the certificate in my hands I felt like a official artist. I make sculptures, 2D and 3D. The materials I use are cardboard, fabric, newspaper, beads, wire, glass and clay. I focus on those materials because those are reused recycling thing that shouldnt go to waist. I in the near future will experiment with other things like wood, screws, wall pins, and more. My sculptures majority are about animals. I love animals because theyre smart and independent.they are born knowing how to walk and what theyre able to eat. They care for eachothere, some more than others, but to be compleatly real we are the worst animals of them all. Im absolutely infuriated and hurt because the abuse and meaningless killing, the torture in factory farming and in animal experiment testing. People avoid these things because they only think of themselves and how they dont wanna get hurt from what they bad thing they see instead of helping. Wake up and see the real ...
Rebeca Calvogomez - I needed therapy. All this frustration, anger, sadness and introversion issues I've never been good at expressing my feelings with words, or asking for what I need, or saying no before I explode. And so come painting. No words, just images. Me, alone with my images. A perfect match. Even better, it could all be done with oil painting, so I needed turpentine, with that smell that I love so much maybe it makes me high, who knows. Getting your hands and clothes dirty, listening to the light sound of the brush on a canvas or a piece of wood and submerging myself in the colors and shapes that come to existence in front of me. That's how I find my pleasure. It started with painting images of small details, a tree, a rock, a street daily images that stayed with me because they captured my imagination, made me calm, or frightened me, or brought me back to some cherished memory of a sweet smell, or the wind on my naked body Windows into a world that was out there but come to live inside me. Then come "On Humanity", those abandoned dogs, and cook fights, bull fights, ...
