    Mark Struzynski - Mark Struzynski Certain Relationships develop in our minds, between quite dissimilar objects, ideas, smells, etc.. These relationships are abstract, often unconscious, and unclear. Mark Struzynski was born in Chicago, IL. in 1957. He became immersed in art while living in Copenhagen, being befriended by students, graduates and Professors at The Art Academy of Copenhagen. He attended lectures and read every art book in the Art Library, as his 'art education'. At the time, that he was living in, Copenhagen he was involved with the Photographic process, how photographs are thought of as being direct transfers of reality, but actually remove or miss a certain amount of detail and the effect of these 'mistakes'. These musings led him to working with Photo-emulsion canvass, developing photos of drawings, which were derived from both found and self-taken photographs onto the Photo-Canvass9see web-site www.markart.org for examples). Upon returning to his hometown Chicago, he returned to painting working with different layers both physically (textured paint and images on top of each other) and mentally, (the different layers of dreams). These paintings seem to develop into a series, which was named Untitled Box Series (see web-site www.markart.org). ...

    Walter Spaeth - Walter Spaeth was born 1952 in Munsingen / Germany Ever since he was a very young boy it has been one of Walter Spaeth`s dream to express his ideas and inspirations. And so it doesn`t come as a surprise that photography soon attracted his attention. At the age of twenty he discovered the creative and technical possibilities of this medium in the black-and-white lab of a friend and began thinking about how it could help him realize his dream. In 1972, though, photography was far less sophisticated than it is today. It proved to be an advantage, as Walter Spaeth spent his first years concentrating on the basic techniques and principles of composition. He thoroughy learned the craft and perfected his skills. In the mid-90`s then the full extent of his creativity became apparent. Computers made their appearance in the photo scene and allowed the editing of pictures, something which Spaeth started doing with great fascination and success. Between 1990 and 2000 Spaeth won more than 30 awards, including Deja-GmbH's 10 000 Mark "Take care" award, which he received in a festive ceremony at the Photokina 2000 in Cologne for his excellent ...

    Youri Messen-Jaschin - From 1958 - 1962 his artistic studies lead him to the higher national school of fine arts student of Professor Arno Roberto Cami and to the Practical school of the Sorbonne, division of social sciences history of art, Professor Pierre Francastel in Paris. From 1962 until 1965, he went to the School of fine arts in Lausanne. He worked with the engraver and painter Ernest Pizzotti. A<> in 1964 with his kinetic glass and acrylic sculptures. He worked two years at the aEURoeCenter of contemporary engravingaEUR in Geneva. Then, he worked in Zurich, where he broadened his pictorial perspective with the painter Friederich Kuhn thru experience of the circle in the face. From 1968 until 1971, he acted at the University of HAPgskolan fAPr design Konsthantwerk in GAPteborg, where he created researches of textile kinetic objects. In 1967, he met at an exhibition in GAPteborgs Konsthall JesAos - Rafael Soto, Carlos Cruz-Diez and Julio Le Parc. Speaking with these artists, he discovered to be fascinated by optical art.     Jim Lively - Whether portrayed in the abstract, realism, or somewhere in between, I am most influenced by both the beautiful and unattractive components of contemporary urban culture. Many times, one painting will reflect both components. My art tends to focus upon interesting juxtapositions of close-up images of human faces. Often, the larger images border upon realism and are caught expressing a panoply of emotions usually directed at the other images that share the canvas. Several of my recent works such as the tongue in cheek entitled "Lenin and Things" contain unlikely combinations of images such as a statue of Lenin which is dwarfed by a billboard size fashion model displaying a vacuous stare. A number of works contain both large images and interrelated small images. For example in the painting "Staring at Natalie", all the smaller images are a depiction of a collective group of voyeurs staring at a larger image of a posed fashion model. I want those viewing the painting to be the ultimate voyeur. The viewer is not only drawn initially to the larger image in its own right but also cannot help but then notice the relationship of the smaller images to the large image. Works displayed ...

    Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...
