BiographyA Born in Switzerland in 1969, Solange Berger's childhood included drawing and music. Even after earning a degree in architecture, Solange found herself drawn more to the artistic nature of the profession than to the technical side of it.A Five years later, after receiving a box of paint as a birthday gift, she found herself awakening to her artistic talents. After some self-teaching, she moved with her husband to the United States. Over the following three years, she studied under famous California-based teachers -- and her artistry blossomed. Ivan Trollip - After completing High School I was called up to do my compulsary military training for 2 years.When this was done I found employment as a visual merchandiser for a couple of years at a chain of depatmental stores.I then went freelance and specialised in ladies fashion and this lasted another few years.I then got involved with garden landscaping that resulted in my own landscape bussiness for the next few years until 1988 when I attended an art coarse with a leading Artist in South Afica at the time.This was life changing for me.From my earliest recolections I have always been drawing and painting and I knew this is what I am supposed to do.IN 1999 I closed my landscaping bussinss and I have been painting ever scince.I tend to paint in series and prefer to spend a lot of time with each painting I create.I try as best I can to be in my Studio every day from Monday trough to Friday for an average of about 5-8 hours.Somehow there is alays something that needs doing.For me the most important thing is getting started once you begin working the ...
Louise Parenteau - ARTISTIC STATEMENT I studied fine arts at the University Of Quebec In Montreal (1986-1991). I was involved in various artistic activities in which I took a strong stand against injustice, poverty, and social exclusion. My work took shape using different methods of research and observation. I articulated my artistic approach inspired by existential human sufferings. I created portraits of individuals with unusual physical traits, expressions, deformities, attitudes... These characters inspired me to use colour in contrasts and splashes. My aim was to express the life animating the characters by an internal light. For my installations, I used a physical space to transpose socio-political situations and dramatic events. With the barest resources, my intention was to stimulate the interest of the viewer. My material supplies: Acrylic, rubbish, wood, metal, rust, polystyrene panels, personal objects, used clothing, etc. In 1995, I realized that I had reached limits with my artistic approach. I decided to have a period of questioning with the aim of going further in my research in terms of intention and expression. This process enabled me to explore, to experiment with different materials and to reposition myself using sculpture as my main form of expression. Ever...
