Artists Describing Their Art:
Zoraida Haibi Figuera - Zoraida Haibi Artist Statement My work is a diary or narrative of the relationships that I have with family and people closest to me. There are different components of each individual represented in the works. Use of collage and mix media, allows me to be able to put fragments of each personi?1/2s character in my artwork. Each painting is cultivated through methods of collecting memoirs and stitching them together creating a quilt of memories. Through use of vibrant colors, expressive brushstorkes, cuts in the canvases, sewing surfaces and collage, I am able to convey a medley of these visions. The awkwardness of some of my canvases reflects the indifference for traditional values that is characteristic in the Latin culture and break from the customary size and shape of the canvas. ...

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Bruce Naigles - From a philosophical standpoint, all that we perceive in the world of form is an outer expression of an inner dynamic. Though my work is predominantly figurative, I find it to be the art of giving form to the formless; ideas, emotions, relationships, events. These are by their very nature intangible and essentially abstract, though they continually alter and effect our physical reality. We read them through our intuitive understanding of body language, much as snow blown about on a winter's day reveals the invisible movement and form of the wind. To 'clothe' these subliminal qualities in human figures and bring them forth in a sculpture, whether it be a simple figure inspired by a model's beauty or an allegory of our human condition, is the basic goal and driving force in my work. ...
Alan Moores - These paintings were mainly done in response to a family illness...which resulted in my using old photographs as a way of attempting to revive a parent's failing memory. They then became a way of exploring my own experiences and of trying to find out "who I really am" and "where I really come from"....
Rasheed Amodu - RASHEED AMODU Artist Statement I started as a professional artist in 1985, before adding a Fine Arts degree, specializing in Painting, in 1991. One of my major aims is to wed creativity and artistic rendering in my artwork leading to diverse range of themes in my oeuvre. My graphic art background in Realism and my degree aided abstractions as well as impressionistic and expressionistic tendencies are often reflected in my artwork, which include my drawings, paintings, mixed media, and assemblages. I draw with pencil, charcoal, penink, and gouache on paper or embossed cards. My oil or acrylic paintings are usually on canvas. I do mixed media on paper, embossed card, and canvas. My assemblages are works produced with commonplace objects or personal items arranged and fixed on hardboard before being painted with oil or acrylic for aesthetic finesse. Some of the objects employed in my assemblages are beads, fabrics, combs, watches, straps, chains, cards, belts, spoons, forks, pens, ropes, lighters, shaving sticks, plugs, and bottle covers. The sources of the images I used in my works are from my society, literature on African art and foreign cultures as well as personal synthesis. I employed my artwork to visually document the ...

Angu Walters - Angu Walters interest in painting started when he was a boy experimenting with ink from different pen colors, mixed and applied them on torn cardboards, which were sometimes hung on the walls of his motheraEURtms sitting room. His mother invited Spee, a very famous artist to show him what the child was doing with the materials he could find in his milieu, thereafter the artist took him to his workshop, under his guidance so to better improve on his skills. Since then, he has had a professional revolution with much inspiration drawn from his fine arts mentor. Angu Walters dwells mostly on abstract and surreal paintings which focus mostly on the painful side of life like poverty and disease. He also paints music which he claims reflects the happy side of life. His works express surrealism because he believes that his dreams are inspirational to his life and works. Radosveta Zhelyazkova - My brush is soft, gentle and emotional. Sometimes it guides me to vibrant, colorful landscapes, other times to dark and mysterious domains. I go where it leads me. I am a lover of nature and her many manifestations. My family owns lands of lavender and sage. I often spend my free time in the countryside around their farm. I am inspired by what I see there. This is how I create my landscapes of grass, meadows, lilacs and lilies, of seas of wheat and orchards of trees. I also love to travel and explore different destinations around the world. My paint brush is my constant companion. It helps me to capture and recreate my travels. You can see some of them in my paintings rustic fields in Bulgaria, ProvenASSal houses in the South of France, seaside villages in Italy, noisy plazas in Mexico, swaying palm trees in Florida and the monumental buildings that make up the vast skyline of New York City. All of these scenes have touched my heart and, as a result, my canvas. Perhaps they will touch you too. Enjoy your journey through my work and I wish you the best of all thataEURtms beautiful, ...
