  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Roberto Rossi - Roberto Rossi is a self-taught art worker. Born in the city of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo State, Brazil, he has been working in the advertising field for 29 years. Art has been present since this artist's early ages, when he has great opportunities to closely watch the activities related to graphic arts that, in the future, would be extremely important for its professional career. Roberto Rossi begins his professional life in 1971, working as reviser for the most reputable juridical book publishing company at the time. In 1976 he is invited to work as copy reviser for the most important advertising agency of the country, where he would stay until 1988. At the same time, he contributes with his professional abilities for Brazilian literature, participating in projects involving very important private editions, some of them dedicated to art and Brazilian colonial furniture. His writer friends look for him when editing their books, in which he helps with copy desk, review, production and creative work in graphical projects. All this background has taken Roberto Rossi to know and search for learning, in details, the daily activities of photographic techniques, both studio and lab tasks, besides art studio, ...

Balazs Buda - The painter Balazs BUDA constantly trying to capture the Beautiful and enter only the good in life. He finds it everywhere, in everything that surrounds himA people, nature, the environmentA and he shares it with his art. Born into a family of scientists, his interest quickly turned to the sciences of life and, early on, he felt the need to not only study this life, but express, embody and also make it speak. His Teacher Training of Fine Arts and Biology, clearly demonstrates that double will. He teaches both disciplines in schools in Hungary and France, then makes a break of a few years in the world of fashion in Paris. After this, he devoted himself entirely to painting. His works are painted with the traditional technique of oil painting. He grabbed all the well-known subjects, be it portraits, objects or landscapes, with a different look and a good touch of his own. These works are never part of a serie or sequence, because he considers each painting as unique, their realization requires a different approach. Creation is always a struggle of expression, but at the same time learning the technique and the intrinsic nature of things. Balazs Buda...

Caren Keyser - My expressionist paintings are done using an intuitive process. I begin with the paint and then allow the paint and my subconscious to lead me to the subject matter. Exciting interactions between colors evolve from brushwork, pouring, glazing, spraying and other techniques. I strive to show the essence of the subject rather than paint an overly realistic image. I never know what I will find next in my work. I hope it will be dramatic and emotional. Note that the paintings are not framed. ------------------------------------- I began painting professionally in 1977 after studying art at Florida Atlantic University. There I explored the many styles and techniques available to the acrylic painter. My first photo-realism style piece was created while attending FAU. I knew from that moment that realistic nature scenes would be my style of choice. This remained my theme and style until after 2005. As time has passed my work has changed and become more creative in its processes. Color is still the dominant feature in my work. As my focus has shifted toward expressionism I stored my realism pieces. The originals of many of them are still available for purchase and are included in my inventory here at ...

Durre Waseem - Durre Waseem of Corona, a native of Pakistan, has a Master of Fine Arts degree from Punjab University and taught for 10 years at various colleges in Pakistan. Durre moved to the United States in 2001 and became a full time painter. She paints portraits and plein air in oils, pastels, watercolor, ink, and acrylics and captures the local colour of both the people and the place of wherever she may be. Her bold, colorful brushwork and loose impressionistic style effectively capture the energy and feeling of her subject and establishes a direct line of communication with the viewer. Her inspiration is usually an ordinary object, how its identity is defined by its environment, and how it becomes apart of its surroundings. Durre has participated in many national and international exhibitions both in Pakistan and the U.S. ...

Connie Chadwell - I have always loved to draw the face and figure. If I'm not actually drawing from the posed model or sketching people going about their everyday lives, I'm probably thinking about it. I seldom miss an opportunity to draw or paint from life and I strive every day to capture not just a likeness of my subjects, but also the more elusive qualities of spirit, mood and emotion. ...

Martin Beck - Working from life and in the immediacy of the sitteraEURtms presence helps maintain a connection to real life at a time when digital life can be overwhelming. In this way, life drawing is about the artist maintaining human interaction. In presenting themselves to the world the sitter collaborates in this process as an active participant. This collaboration now occurs at a troubling and turbulent time. Fact, if not truth itself, is under siege. By working from life, the sitter and artist are the revealing truth of a specific time, place and act. This cannot be faked the finished work is an unmediated artifact of the act. Rather than think of these as portraits of people, for me these are portraits of authentic moments....
