  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Martinho Dias - The complexity and the multiple facets of the global world are my main fundamentals. Selecting and manipulating images, essentially from the press and popular magazines, I try to create a new suggested reality, a new narrative, open to the viewer. Resorting to the realism of the figures and the gestural abstraction, the paradox, the contrariety, the criticism or irony, what I do is unfold the reality, individual and collective, which is common to us, reconfiguring it in the plan of the canvas. Along my journey as a painter, I have also developed ways of communication with different cultures, as well as other areas, particularly the music and their players. Projects like "Written Paintings" and "Pangea" (video, currently in progress, involving entities and singers from 26 countries), they gave me the pleasure of collaboration of Kepa Junkera, Pauline Oliveros, Peter Ablinger, Gianluigi Trovesi, Robert Rich, Eurico Carrapatoso, Amelia Muge or Antonio Victorino d'Almeida, among many others. ...

Niloufer Wadia - There are no deep, dark secrets here, only warm, quiet moments caught from life, aiming to inspire and make you happy. Drawing ever since I can remember, in school book margins, on newspaper corners and any blank or not-so-blank surface that will accept the marks of a pen or pencil, almost invariably the doodles turned into women. A refrain I always heard growing up was, "good, but draw something besides women!" Now I wonder, "Why?!" It's what I enjoy drawing most! Though I explore various media, pencil, digital and watercolour. in these few drawings my love for the vibrancy of Acrylic paints, the human form and most especially the celebration of beauty in the female sex is obvious. An art student and an advertising professional, I have only recently re-discovered the pleasures of creating art for art's sake. My recent art a little pop-art, melding a contemporary graphic style, shape and vibrancy, with Indian themes, settings and patterns. Shapes are large, bold and in your face, themes are warm and earthy. The paintings epitomize hope, laughter and sensuality; the eyes of my figures hypnotize, the lines and the curves draw you into this celebration...

Jane Jaskevich - Jane Jaskevich Artist Statement Jaskevich is a carver of dreams in stone. Her mythical figures borrow elements from ancient cultures. Jane creates figures by combining various materials such as different stones, wood and found objects. She pays homage to the stonesO Greco-Roman roots. Her recent series deals with the incomplete figure and is entitled OThe Silhouette Series O. Partial heads that can be read as a silhouette are combined with full bodies. These sculptures suggest multiple ideas; ancient ruin, contemporary dreams, and flat vs 3D. 2012 brought exhibitions in the NYC Affordable Art Fair and her sculptures being published in Contemporary Sculptors by Kracun/ McFadden. Numerous Southeast galleries represent her. Jane received her BFA from University of Georgia and Masters in Art from Florida State with additional studies in Pietrasanta, Italy. Her public collections include an outdoor sculpture in a Michigan church and three sculptures for NationsBank Headquarters in Tampa. Jane has two sculptures in the permanent collection of the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland, Florida. Her large-scale bronze sculptures are the focal point for the Tampa GTE Data Center. . ...

Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....

Joseph Mclaughlin - the main feature of my work whether or it is figurative or landscape is always, light. The play of light on any subject changes the mood of the work and how the viewer percieves the narrative contained within the work. I love oils and will build up colours and layers to increase the atmosphere to try to bring the viewer into the work and interpret it in thier own way....

Jan Chlpka - Jan Chlpka - naive imaginism The painter from Hlozany (Vojvodina, Serbia) Jan Chlpka (1965) belongs to our best and most original painters of naive art today. To poetics of inset imaginism tied him his increased imagination. As a result such an orientation we can find a reduced space of painting without any unnecessary details and expressed expressive stylization of shapes. He also uses colors in accordance with inter and not mimetic meaning. The most frequent themes of his painting creation are animals, which is natural while his occupation is veterinary surgeon. Here we can notice other rare component of painter's creation - humor. Vladimir Valentik, art historian...

Boyko Asparuhov - An imaginative expressionist,Boyko,s oil paintings are a treat to the eye and the soul with their strong brilliant colors, fantasy characters and symbolic elements fused into a bold, graphic style."My work conveys the positive energy of the universe-love,romance,dreams,music,nature,beauty and freedom,"says Boyko. Born in Pleven,Bulgaria in1959,Boyko began painting at age six. After graduating from the Bulgarian Academy Of Fine Art,he muved to Prague in the Czech Republic where he operated his own gallery until 2005 year. Boyko lives and works in Chicago,United States...

Christophe Bourely - LIE/LAY SERIES Despite their aggression toward nature and each other human beings are fragile animals. In this series, I explore poses in which figures could either be at rest, exercising, meditating or simply be dead. The lack of background emphasizes the abstract quality of the figures and the uncertainty of the situation. Are these figures lying or have they been laid? Lie or lay? It will be up to the viewer to decide. ...

Bé Van Der Heide - Artist Statement I do work mostly in series. The images shown in my portfolio are examples of different series all executed over the last ten years. Some of the latest series such as "Dance of the transient forms" and "Collapse" have recently been exhibited in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain. The most extensive series is called the "ENFANT TERRIBLE" series. These are drawings and paintings, mostly of a little girl and her family and friends. The rather menacing images of a seemingly helpless frightened little girl, being held tight or prettied up with bows in her hair, are inspired by photographs in my family album. In these drawings I am not interested in a photographic likeness, but I try to express a feeling about these people in the pictures. Part of the series were shown in the LCP Gallery in London during summer 2002 and in the Mas Poch Gallery in Spain November 2003. The series before "Enfant Terrible" is called: "WEBS", inspired by the sight of insects, leaves, dried up larvae; all caught in a Spiders web underneath a box on top of one of my work tables in the studio. They have been considerably enlarged; some paintings...

Tara Hutton - My passion for the glamorous Art Deco era of the 1920's & 1930's is reflected in all my artwork. Therefore when you view my artwork you will see definitive lines and geometric shapes. My favorite medium is acrylic. My favorite art period is Art Deco but lately I have been venturing into next era, often referred to as Mid-Century Modern. My love for Architecture and Design is equal to the love I have for Fine Art. I am most attracted to people that are connected to or passionate about the arts. If my arwork pleases you I will be pleased, send me an e-mail, I answer all my art e-mail! Thank you for taking the time to view my Absolute Arts Portfolio. ...

Roberta Masciarelli - My art is about spaces that I sense, places that I like to travel to in my imagination. These spaces stay hovering in my mind until they take shape, piece by piece. They have to become real. Sometimes it take days, and sometimes months -- it doesn't matter. What matters is my task to make them concrete and to be shared with the viewer - other eyes and minds which will bring different interpretations. After all, it is always in the eyes of the beholder. ...
