  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Michael Chatman - I create art as an expression of my interest in life in capturing the memorable scenes and ideas I have experienced. In creating an image or work, I first, picture the image or idea, then sketch on paper, measure the image to size and then transfer it on to a surface to start painting. Then I proceed to paint the areas of the image I have transformed, starting with the background and then the dominant features of the image, until I have a full painting. I mostly like to work in acrylic, although I can work in most mediums. I find that acrylics are easy to clean-up, dries quickly and is fairly forgiving, as long as one uses a lot of water. I also like working with digital art as I find it to be easy to work with, after learning the fundamentals, and can provide a precise and clear rendering of an image, as well as being able to enhance the image features. In creating Art, I want to leave a lasting impression on the viewer and make them feel as if they have been truly touched by what they've seen....

Sohan Jakhar - "My art is a visual projection created by stimulating the memories of the past and the present", Says Sohan Jakhar, while defining his art. His works addresses his personal relations as well as the ones he has with his ancestry. The decorative motifs floating in the background come from the painted fresco on the havelis of Shekhavati, a hometown of the artist where he has spent his childhood. Juxtaposed on them is any visual material that is relevant to him from his experiences and interactions. The incorporated images are the photographs taken by the self or often references from magazines, later digitally modified by the artist and transferred on the canvas. The treatment of pictures has a simplistic approach. The artist uses layers of vibrant colors that simply have strong individual personas expressing a subtle theatre of visual form. He employs 'acrylic' colors to create this vibrancy and for their ability to dry quickly. "I realize that experiences changes with time", Sohan Jakhar's paintings encore this sentiment. They are simple and clear resonances of various complex emotions that accompany the journey of experiences. ...

Sohan Jakhar - Kevin Wakefield - I love the drama of staged lighting to create extraordinary depth, contrast and exciting, bold, value and color changes. Revieling the third dimension with strong visual communication. Painting subject matter that may convey sensuality, to spark arousal, change tention to serenity, or envoke art appreciation, aesthetics, create a multisensory connection to viewers and expanded vision are goals l am to achieve....

Nicole Pereira - NICOLE PEREIRA Nicole Pereira is a young rising artist who started producing artwork at the young age of 4. Nicole noticed that she had a gift for art when her artwork was selected in her local public school and community art competitions. The local press also started raving about Nicoles work. With encouragement from her family and friends, Nicole now devotes all of her free time to paint abstract portraits that express her feelings and emotions. Originally, she started drawing realistic portraits of individuals and celebrities, but felt that she wanted to add more. By careful reinterpretation of the portrait, the use of broad brushstrokes and vivid colors, Nicole conveys her thoughts, feelings and emotion to the canvas to create unusual artwork. Nicole is just beginning to get recognition in the art world as a gifted and unique artist and her potential is unlimited....

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...

Matthew Hickey - Matthew Hickey is a 38 year old artist originally from Levittown, New York. He graduated with honors from the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan in 1995. Manolo Roldan Humpierres - MANDO It draws, to draw, always to draw...... With pride and much admiration to my teachers, great sketchers Dr Pedro Centeno Vallenilla and Roberto Gonzalez of those who I learned the safe outline in the drawing for the office, movements and color of lemos professor Elisa. With school, investigation and the constant work I arrived at a full mixed technique from textures and plastic possibilities without limits (fabrics, wood, paper, etc) every day with more discoveries and new encounter. In the process the thematic one has been varied, until in the year of 1,9991 the Argentine artist Fragnito Daisy invites to me to work with her in a titled project "Root" for the commemoration of the Discovery of America (500 Years). Beginning with "FRAGILE" in the year of 1.992. Of the pre-Columbian Art la"Venus...

Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....
