Artists Describing Their Art:
Michael Chatman - I create art as an expression of my interest in life in capturing the memorable scenes and ideas I have experienced. In creating an image or work, I first, picture the image or idea, then sketch on paper, measure the image to size and then transfer it on to a surface to start painting. Then I proceed to paint the areas of the image I have transformed, starting with the background and then the dominant features of the image, until I have a full painting. I mostly like to work in acrylic, although I can work in most mediums. I find that acrylics are easy to clean-up, dries quickly and is fairly forgiving, as long as one uses a lot of water. I also like working with digital art as I find it to be easy to work with, after learning the fundamentals, and can provide a precise and clear rendering of an image, as well as being able to enhance the image features. In creating Art, I want to leave a lasting impression on the viewer and make them feel as if they have been truly touched by what they've seen....
Sohan Jakhar - "My art is a visual projection created by stimulating the memories of the past and the present", Says Sohan Jakhar, while defining his art. His works addresses his personal relations as well as the ones he has with his ancestry. The decorative motifs floating in the background come from the painted fresco on the havelis of Shekhavati, a hometown of the artist where he has spent his childhood. Juxtaposed on them is any visual material that is relevant to him from his experiences and interactions. The incorporated images are the photographs taken by the self or often references from magazines, later digitally modified by the artist and transferred on the canvas. The treatment of pictures has a simplistic approach. The artist uses layers of vibrant colors that simply have strong individual personas expressing a subtle theatre of visual form. He employs 'acrylic' colors to create this vibrancy and for their ability to dry quickly. "I realize that experiences changes with time", Sohan Jakhar's paintings encore this sentiment. They are simple and clear resonances of various complex emotions that accompany the journey of experiences. ...

Ken Hillberry - In art and in life, dynamics of balance, integrity and tolerant interaction of all elements or participants ought to be see, experienced and maintained. At the same time, the challenge of affecting this balance is creatively encountering all changes and adapt accordingly. For some, the destination or pre-determined outcomes are sought more often than not. Then there are some who savor the journey, thus witnessing and enjoying developments along the way. I fall into the latter category. It's like watching the film develop in a darkroom. the image takes form a little at a time right before my eyes. The creative process, for me, is void of pressure and timeless. The ability and practice and discipline are central in my approach. My creative intent is to engage a viewer in thought and emotion, as well as, with their eyes. Using imagination, retrospect or model, my range of composition can be conceptual, perhaps impressionistic or abstract in application, but always developed to evoke an awareness and appreciation for the relative conditions in life experience and art form as I incisively or playfully interpret my experiences along the way. ...
