  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Dorothy Siclare - Dorothy Siclare ________________________________________ My Artist Statement D.SICLARE MILLINGTON, NJ - UNITED STATES I paint to share the unexpected beauty of people, places, and objects. I am passionate about my subjects and believe that a touch of my own spirit is reflected in my work. My hope is to seduce you with sensual compositions that evoke strong feelings in you. Accurate drawing skills, sound painting techniques, and strong compositions are the foundation of my paintings. Although realistic depictions are my main goal, it is also important that the subject painted "feels" like I have captured its soul. As an artist, I want to share my passion with those who appreciate the beauty, hope, and inspiration that great art can achieve. ...

Tapan Kar - Born in 1954. Tapan Kar is an Indian artist who lives and works in Kolkata. He graduated from the Govt. College of Art and Crafts, Kolkata and pursuaded an MA in Bengali in the University of Calcutta. Tapan's favourite medium of work is Tempera, a less used medium of the present time. Ione Citrin - Ione is an avant garde artist whose artistic expression takes fantastic shape through her diverse oil and watercolor paintings, bronze sculptures, found object collages and mixed media assemblages. Her paintings and sculptures range from abstract to realistic to impressionistic - all visionary interpretations from her imaginative soul. "When I paint, I dip my brush in my soul... Being an Artist is a life force, not a career choice. Each piece represents a fragment of my life's work. I present the world artistically as I see it, as I wish to see it, and occasionally as I once saw it. You see, It is my identity. Without this expression of self, I am nothing. Through my art I give love." Ione uses only one name but a variety of styles to soothe her wild imagination. A native of Chicago, she is a former television star and commercial voice-over artist. Now she wins awards and sells her creativity through her hands instead of through her larynx. Her art is as original as she is - bold, colorful and highly decorative....

Christophe Bourely - LIE/LAY SERIES Despite their aggression toward nature and each other human beings are fragile animals. In this series, I explore poses in which figures could either be at rest, exercising, meditating or simply be dead. The lack of background emphasizes the abstract quality of the figures and the uncertainty of the situation. Are these figures lying or have they been laid? Lie or lay? It will be up to the viewer to decide. ...

Michael Kehrlein - painter, sculptor, textile artist ,My creations fit perfectly(sic) in a wabi sabi urban zen environment. Because I stubbornly believe all the care my hands give to each and every process of my textile creations or stone sculpture creates something more than just a "look." It may be subtle, but you know when you wear or touch. You know when that piece ages with you. You feel the thought of that person, who made it for you, the invisible. I work with "slow" materials, not flashy, not necessary pretty, not cheap, not easy, but those that will give a soul to the piece. I would like to offer you the best and unique. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. ...

Nicole M. Mathieu - Difficult to talk about art as one should, first of all, feel it. What is more fantastic that listening to a piece of music, reading a novel or seeing an artwork which will transport you deeply inside. For me, Art is not a duplication of what one sees, it should transcend it. My portraits were done in this sense trying to transpose the invisible part of the model. In my recent oil paintings, I try to give sounds with colors which reflects life itself and will remind you of things that seem familiar. Last December 2011, I moved to a beautiful art studio in Paris (near Place d'Italie) and you are welcome to visit my atelier while on vacation. Please call me before at 00 33 (0)663528344 ...

Michael Tieman - As Michael Tieman sees it, "The role of an artist from the dawn of time has been as a visual storyteller. The stories my paintings and sculpture tell are ones of confidence, strength, passion, playful sophistication and the celebration of life." "I create my bronze sculpture as a three dimensional painting, texture becomes the Impressionistic impasto brushstroke, color is the play of light and shadows across the surfaces, and detail is the impression of movement." ...
