  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Ingo Leth - I'm an german artist living in Holland. In my work exists a cadence of color, energy, and a spontaneous exuberance for the medium that is captivating and visually exciting. The organic and instinctive style, fluid and visceral in presentation reveals a heightened understanding of structure and composition to express emotional tenor. I often work abstract or abstract with figurative items....

Nicole Peņa - In many of my paintings I depict entranced individuals who are seduced into a musical and psychic celebration. A song lives within the space of my canvas enrapturing participants to sway to its vibrations and experience its sensual essence. In one painting a frenzied conga compels hips to gyrate and eyes to close while in another a gentle psalm inspires as it soothes the soul. In these works, rhythm liberates the body and frees the spirit by compelling the participants to combine sensual movements with soulful meditations....

Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...

Juan Rodrigo Piedrahita Escobar - yo soy artista Colombiano en el area de la pintura tengo una trayectoria de 15 aAfA+-os, y he realizado exposciones individuales y colectivas en mi pais. Mima Stajkovic - The world I live in today is filled with the most amazing secrets. Personal secrets that cannot be told, those little thoughts that shape your personality and intimacy. Every secret have reason, every reason have shape, influence and interaction. My goal is to recognize each of them with the respect that they deserve. Bringing them to light in full color, making them touchable and visible, I get better understanding of individuals, their apprehension and shame, their desire and potential. While working on a painting over weeks, sometimes months, I found that acrylic on canvas give me the best opportunity to quickly catch my thoughts. Starting with real world and images I continue to explore with symbols and colors emphasizing my impression. The finished work may not resemble the original idea but I always get to know something new during this enjoyable process. In the latest series of paintings I am playing with women's emotions, her fears and wishes developing relations with other people. When people see my work, I'd like them to feel my thoughts and get chance to agree or not with me, but in any way to think about motives that every woman has developing emotional ...

Dimitri Lazaroff - Like most artists, I work with non-verbal medium - drawing, painting, sculpture etc. - that attempt to convey things which cannot be even remotely described in words. And thats the trouble when being asked to write an artists statement. How one explains that heshe is trying to communicate the unexplainable, things that transcend verbalizing, aspects of existence or glimpses into certain conditions, the occasional insights Artists statements are not really feasible and are bound to be misleading....

Marty Kalb - Artists important to me Rembrandt,Cezanne and Matisse, because their work got better with age. Klee, because he makes me realize that simple ideas are the most complex and the most rewarding. Kandinsky, because his work was the first to teach me about the levels of meaning in abstraction. Twachtman, because his landscapes are about how to feel about place and process. Church, because his majestic vision is his own creation. Monet, because I see his hand and eye take risks. Hofmann because he controls the mind and frees the spirit. Heartfield and Goya because they do not look away. There are others, but as Hillel said "the rest is commentary" Subjects I return to. Color filled landscape abstractions. Realistic images of local streams, And waterfalls in other places. The Holocaust as the ultimate moral challenge Each is important My paintings explore realistically and abstractly an interest in landscape from my immediate surroundings, distant places of particular natural beauty, seascapes and undersea forms inspired by many visits to the Caribbean and a long standing interest in Asian art. Most of the paintings of realistic waterfalls are of places in Vermont, New York State and Ohio. The abstract waterfalls are inventions, ...

Joseph Mclaughlin - the main feature of my work whether or it is figurative or landscape is always, light. The play of light on any subject changes the mood of the work and how the viewer percieves the narrative contained within the work. I love oils and will build up colours and layers to increase the atmosphere to try to bring the viewer into the work and interpret it in thier own way....
