Artists Describing Their Art:
Lucille Coleman - Although I'm able to produce other imagery, the figure has been my main subject. I believe that if an artist can capture and express the figure well, he can master any subject. I have explored the following themes to name a few: chic erotica, forms of dance such as latin and hip-hop, the family, conceptual themes pertaining to people in business, men and women in positive leadership roles and societal issues. I enjoy painting subjects and themes by using a loose, bold, direct and painterly brushstroke or flat graphite strokes over a solid drawing. Spontaneity and making visual statements by the "less is more" method is very gratifying for me. In addition, the chiaroscuro lighting of subjects fascinates me and I never tire of its effects of light and shadow. I am influenced by the works of Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargeant, Caravaggio and other painters of his era, Wassily Kandinsky, Phillip Corey, Impressionism, and many great illustrators. ...

Le pitture a olio su tela per predisporre nuove tematiche espressive e per un sempre maggiore potenziale creativo sono state inserite nelle pitture ...
Marina Venediktova - My name is Marina Venediktova. I was born in 1974 in the Russian city of Kazan. My father is a professional artist and designer. It is difficult for me to track the moment in the past when painting first captured my attention, apparently from the first days of my life . I always studied with my father, and then graduated from an art school in the city of Kazan, later in 2007 I moved to live in St. Petersburg and practiced for many years in private workshops with artists of the Art Academy of St. Petersburg. As a second education, there was a graduation from the Academy of Astrology, and a large practice of consulting clients. Since then, more than six years have passed, and it was astrology that gave me that unique accent in my paintings, inspired me to a new stage of my work. Now I do not just look at the world, at people, I see them with my own eyes, I see the uniqueness of each person, each soul, even if it is an inanimate object. But words are too stingy to describe it, so I chose my own language-the language of canvas and paint. I ...
Hampton Olfus - ARTIST STATEMENT Over the past twelve years, IaEURtmve been working in acrylic paint, ink, pencil and mixed media. During this time period, I was inspired by an assortment of topics, while repeating one of my mainstay topics, music, and culture. Creating in the moment, allows the intuitive sensibilities too be part of the process. I bring an eclectic aesthetics with me into the studio, which I transfer into what I create. My true emotions, is what I aspire to transfer, visually to the viewer, through the media. Hampton R. Olfus, Jr. Artist ...
Dennis Mccallum - For a number of years I was the UK Government protected species rehabilitator to the wild of injured birds of prey. In this time I was able to observe and handle wild birds and animals. They were my inspiration and provided the subject matter for my paintings. Having been a surveyor with the UK Ordnance Survey which makes the British maps, I was trained to represent images with accuracy and detail and this I do in my paintings from studying the birds at close quarters. I also have the freedom to explore any subject that interests me. My work has been challenging, but always enjoyable and that is my reason for painting...
David Mihaly - The first series here represents notable historical and pop culture figures, many with Ohio roots, presented in a contemporary style. Each portrait can be seen as a celebration of the individual depicted as well as a meditation on the difference between the bygone era of actual achievement in the arts versus todays culture of instant celebrity. Also included here is a series of textured jazz musician portraits. Each musician painting was made using a layered acrylic technique, evoking the smoky atmosphere of the clubs where the music was born....
Robert Reinhardt - Artist Statement My camera lens explores the inspiring and sensitive interconnections between the temporal elements of time and history and their relationship to the changing environment. Several photographic software programs are employed to recreate the original landscape photograph to manipulate the original design of these images. It is the careful observer that begins to discover the delicate objects and surfaces that lie hidden amidst the many layers of images all packaged into one final piece. My intention is to subject the original images to the ravages of time. The rich patinas and the weather worn surfaces magnetically draw me in as I return each image. The images that I chose to include document a specific theme of aEURoeEnd of DaysaEUR. The newly constructed images bring to life a strength that lives on in these landscapes. They seem almost indifferent to the elements that continue to wear at their surfaces and challenge their structural integrity. At the same time, nature is painting an entirely new palette in which they will exist. It is the collision and contrast of that ongoing confrontation that draws me into these landscapes. Bert Menco - Though they may seem simple, especially my drawings and intaglio prints but also my paintings are actually quite elaborate; half a year's work on an image is no exception for me. I draw directly or use small sketches, even doodles, as image-generating nuclei, often combining two or three that appear to complement each other. I rarely use concrete references, but rather work from inner visions. I tend to be narrative in my own art, perhaps poetic narrative. I don't see my images as telling a story but rather as reflections of inner feelings, similar to some poetry, and would like observers to read them as such. I like to believe that my work carries a certain mystery. My images are very much "inside out.aEUR? I have usually some idea of what I want to obtain, but much of the image is generated while I draw or paint. The end product always surprises me; I am often amazed that there even is an end product. Analyzing my own art is difficult but I think that the dreamlike images tend to deal with confined spaces which contain certain characters that reach out to one another but do not quite ...
