Liz Watkins - As I take in the world around me, my mind records it somewhere in the dark recesses of my brain. There it remains until something triggers it and I reproduce in on canvas or paper. Somewhere along its journey I have put a slanted spin on it and it become part of my twisted sense of humor. Liz Watkins...
Lexi Klein - Welcome to Lexi Klein's Art Theatre. Lexi's interests as a painter are dialogues on contemporary social, political, environmental, sexual and other issues. His work expresses the human drama of contemporary life. His observations of new challenges to the eternal human condition continuously motivate his creativity. Ironically, to tackle contemporary issues, Lexi reaches into the past, basing his early paintings on Japanese Ukiyo-e or woodblock prints. His newest work has taken another direction, melding Japanese print, painting traditions and photography with western aesthetics, and computer technologies, inspired by religious and aesthetic themes from the Renaissance which he updates as if continuing a cross-epoch conversation. Lexi has painted about many issues from censorship to air and water pollution, toxic shock syndrome, American culture invading the world, international tourism and culture clash to current series on todays revolutionary mass media and internet culture (often as seen through the eyes of an up-to-date Adam and Eve). His works are marked by humor, an exquisite sensuality of line, form and color, astute commentary, topicality, and a high level of aesthetics. "The social and cultural dramas of today's society motivate me to create paintings. My earlier work focused on ...

Terri Higgins - The deep ache that replaced the pleasure you used to have, the words someone said that you keep turning over and over in your head, the void inside that nothing seems to fill; these are some of the subjects I paint about. Location: Washington, DC Check out my website and blog:
Sonja Tellison-Foster - More than simple faerie tales, myths can teach, heal, act as morality guides, or beacons of inspiration along a sometimes murky spiritual path. The myths of a culture are it's soul. They are what's left behind when the political border lines have changed and the people themselves are gone. Myth helps us to understand our own nature as well as that of the world around us. Joseph Campbell, noted scholar and one of the foremost authorities on mythology states, "Myth must be kept alive. The people who can (do this) are artists . . . . The function of the artist is the mythologization of the environment and the world." At a time when we, as a society, rely more on science and technology for answers to our various quandries, than a collective, traditional knowledge, refocusing on mythologization is more important then ever. Are you anxious? Here, take a new pill! Are kids more violent? Must be the video games! The adage "There's nothing new under the sun." is itself certainly not a new concept. If we delve deep enough, the answers are already existent, like diamonds in the dark. When we forget the stories of our ancestors, we forget our...
Eileen Doman - March 2009 I guess it is usual for me to have spaces of time in between work, just like a pianist the spaces in between the notes are so important. I have no gallery representation to speak of and have had many serious solo shows and now am interested solely in just exhibiting on my own. Imagine going on a road trip and visiting my studio for a cornucopia of delights, I am nestled in the shawnee national forest area, many hiking trails and super hilly views, as good as it gets, an organic food location, we all grow our own. Take a listen to me on WDBX.ORG 10:30 am - 12:00 pm Fridays Central time, live streaming worldwide, I mix my own music. ...

Eduardo Diaz - Statement My name is Eduardo DIaz and Iim a Mexican artist residing in the Bay Area since 2001. In my work I express different elements of Mexican culture, while emphasizing its Native American heritage. I incorporate native themes and images, both extant and prehispanic, into my works and combine them with personal feelings, experiences or fears. Although cultural elements are the essence of my art, through them I also like to express political and social opinions. As a Mexican, I feel in touch with the problems at the Mexican-American border, as well as with the issues facing Mexican immigrants. I also like to express the tension between the indigenous and the industrialized worlds, and to analyze the different elements that make up Mexican identity, especially when confronted with life in a different country. My favorite medium is oil painting. I use vivid and deep colors, with which I reflect the light of the Mexican sun. Some of my compositions are figurative, and oscillate between realistic scenes and more elaborated images, with affinity to surrealism. My most recent productions are less figurative and combine the same vivid colors into expressive abstract constructions. Biography My name is Eduardo D...
