  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Inge Van Der Meulen - Somehow mankind needs the expression of art; art may provide hope to the ones who need it, it can embrace and support the heart of the ones that don't feel understood any other way, art can bring us passed the limit of words... Kunst kan een gevangen ziel bevrijden, het kan de limiet van woorden overschrijden... Your comments, statements etc. will always be interesting te me, and I hope that my expessions at least will bring you the joy of watching......

Sheila Fraga - Woman figure is the main theme of this exhibition entitled "Hope." Woman body has been an inspirational and interest motive for many artists in the Art History. I had intended to take this concept in order to reflect not only the woman beauty and sensuality but also to incorporate my own living experiences within the history frame that my generation had lived. I would like to establish a dialogue between the audience and my paintings to provoke controversy and interest toward concepts of identity, spirituality and love. Characters portray feelings of love, defiance, meditation, hope, and encourage the spectator to dream. Nudity is not used to identify woman figure as a sex symbol but a bearer of feelings, spirituality, expressiveness and determination to pursue happiness and new ideas in the social scenario. The use of celestial settings depicted In the skies and clouds are implemented to reflect spirituality and its interaction with daily life. Techniques such as oil, pastel and cut-out are present in my paintings and drawings as a mean to transmit emotions and expressiveness. It's creativity that strives me to seek new ways of expression to materialize my work. To create multiple scenarios with the only...

Nora Cervino - Intuition, plays an important role in my creative process. My paintings, mosaics, drawings and photographs are direct representations of a journey that begins as a meditative process. Without a predetermined plan, the forms, colors, lines and themes in my imagery are developed. My work honours spontaneity and the essence of the magic I experience while I manipulate the materials I work with. The work is of a narrative nature, attempting to convey past and present personal experiences. Bold colors, lines, forms and themes are juxtaposed to create a melange of disparate elements harmoniously working together like life itself. By working in this intuitive manner, my work also attempts to provoke audiences to value and welcome the importance of subconscious thought and the relevance that it has on day to day living....

Harvey Horowitz - The artistic philosophy that has inspired me in composing my photographs over the last fifty plus years is really quite simple: It is to capture something extraordinary in what is otherwise commonplace to the casual observer. I am fortunate that the gallery which represents me in Montreal, Beaux Arts David Astrof, has shared my point of view. While the artist's conception is important in-so-far-as it expresses something original (and/or freshens how we perceive the world around us), I believe it is equally important that the concept be inspiring and not merely cleverly unique. Photography is not currently my main source of income. My livelihood is management consultation work which takes me around the world. It is traveling, with its expatriate experience of being apart from the familiar, which infects my vision and shapes my choice of perspective. This fuels my inspiration to create a photograph imbued with the magic of that particular setting at that particular moment in time. While travel is a big part of what motivates my creative process, it is this "stranger in a strange land" experience which influences all my work. In my last solo exhibition with Beaux Arts David Astrof, ...

Greg Gierlowski - Light has always played important role in my creations. Light comming through translucent artwork interests me and fascinates me the most. Therefore I turned into glass and started to experiment with translucent creations. My admiration for Art Nouveau artists that had created a lot of beautiful everyday-use objects of art resulted in creation of applied arts' objects such as art-lamps. When one has backlight at ones disposal, there's whole new field of artistic expresion - not only on one front surface of glass panel but on two, or even four or more, when two or three layers of glass can be used as a kind of sandwich that builds deeper into artwork for 3D effects. That's what I'm working on now and what's seems to attract international viewers & art-critics more and more now-a-days, to the point of of achieving latest awards and honours ( mainly from Italy....

Jo Mari Montesa - Of all the gifts God gave to man the finest is his free will. Second to life itself. It is the essence of man. It is what separates man from all the other creatures of God. By ones choice or action he is judged if he is worthy to be called the man created by God. The child of free will is art. It is man's self-expression. It is synonymous to freedom of expression. Every art is unique since every man is unique. How man perceives art is also unique as how man perceives beauty. As how man perceive life. Art is like life. It all depends to the person's perception. Truly beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. The gauge of how beautiful life is, depends uniquely to every man. A professor of mine once walked in the streets of Manila during summer. It is very hot, humid and dusty. He noticed a very old beggar asking for coins to the passers while bathing to the heat of the sun all day. Beside the beggar was a newspaper stand. One tabloid headline reads'Young Matinee Idol Commits Suicide." My professor stops for awhile and asks ...

Randall Fox - I am interested in making visual statements about the interaction of time, history, cultures, memory, intellect, intuitions, experiences and the spiritual, in and on the human creative process. "inherent in all manifest in the few" Born: 1960 Education: Bachelor of Science Degree, Industrial Technology (Technical Management) California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo A.S. Monica Malbeck - I was born and raised in Romania, attending art school there. I graduated in 1974 from a highly successful art pilot program at age 18. Where I was offered exposure to all facets of art from visual communications to industrial design. This was followed by a successful career in fashion design with clients throughout Europe, U.S., and Japan. In 1990 I moved to the United States, and in 1996 I was introduced to digital media falling in love instantly with its versatility. I have been exploring digital design since then, trying to mix digital color and the illusions of texture and shape to capture fleeting, momentary thoughts and my feelings. My style varies depending on the subject being captured, as I always try to let the subject dictate the style rather than try to impose a repetitive style format. I have retired to Hawaii very early from a career as a fashion consultant, and decided to focus on art. My very first submission of my artwork to an international competition in Italy, was chosen among the finalists. I am a self-taught digital artist, and I like to explore a broad range of subjects. In my gallery you will...

Niels Ellmoos - Artist Statement I work in most two dimensional mediums (painting, drawing, computer art as well as three dimensional mediums (including video installation, and sculptural ceramics). In the two dimensional works I consider the work to be'spiritual' in nature as often the images manifest through a combination of meditation and sub-conscious energy. Often I begin the process of creativity not knowing what the image is going to end up looking like. The first lines and marks can resemble a child's drawing, generally loose in structure. As the work progresses and the energy builds in a stream of consciousness - an image which is recognisable emerges. To date , landscape and variations of landscapes are the resultant images although spiritual figures have appeared during the process. ...

Jan Skorb - I think that it is an expression of soul searching and times of reflection.Sometimes leaving my thoughts and go where I've never been before.I'm fascinated by the world of the human heart and soul.Searching for gates that need to be opened, with a key,or without it.Sometimes one can open them easily, because they were opened, but one has to reach them first. That's why I'm always on my way....

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Jonathan Charles - My medium is art photography. This means there is no claim of documentary realism - the pictures are created to present an idea but based originally on photographs and (mostly) having the style of a photographic image. I work in South West England and he Charente region of France. My subject is an exploration of beauty and dreams - I see more than enough of troubling reality to want to project it further. My work covers 40 years starting with B&W bleak landscapes through abstract nudes, portraits, dance & theatre to the added dimension of colour and emphasis on personal experience and subconscious mythology. I am always improvising, trying to learn from the images and people's reactions to them. My own website is a portal to my longstanding photo.net gallery which includes a lot of background information about the images. I also have a blog which I have just re-activated. I plan to add the stories behind many of my photo series, old and new. More of my work can be seen via my website:

Christine Lytwynczuk - Christine's paintings are about the human experience: relationships, emotions and introspection. She strives to evoke the feelings of empathy, hope, serenity and comfort through her work. Her paintings have a commanding presence, yet are quiet and exude a sense of intimacy. To be in a room with one of her paintings is like being in the presence of a close friend. Christine often paints children from different cultures, for children experience the same thoughts, fears, hopes and aspirations as adults, but they do not have emotional masks to hide behind. She paints from different cultures to highlight our inner similarities and because she is enthralled with the diverse ornamentation and design found throughout all lands. She feels that cultural decoration adds richness and beauty to life, especially when harmonized with the native landscape. Christine Lytwynczuk was born in Tucson, AZ in 1974. She spent most of her formative years, and as much time as possible now, in the Sonoran Desert. Her love of the desert and nature is revealed in many of her paintings. For twelve years she attended an open-classroom school where she had unlimited access to art materials. During high school she spent a summer in ...
