Rasheed Amodu - RASHEED AMODU Artist Statement I started as a professional artist in 1985, before adding a Fine Arts degree, specializing in Painting, in 1991. One of my major aims is to wed creativity and artistic rendering in my artwork leading to diverse range of themes in my oeuvre. My graphic art background in Realism and my degree aided abstractions as well as impressionistic and expressionistic tendencies are often reflected in my artwork, which include my drawings, paintings, mixed media, and assemblages. I draw with pencil, charcoal, penink, and gouache on paper or embossed cards. My oil or acrylic paintings are usually on canvas. I do mixed media on paper, embossed card, and canvas. My assemblages are works produced with commonplace objects or personal items arranged and fixed on hardboard before being painted with oil or acrylic for aesthetic finesse. Some of the objects employed in my assemblages are beads, fabrics, combs, watches, straps, chains, cards, belts, spoons, forks, pens, ropes, lighters, shaving sticks, plugs, and bottle covers. Angu Walters - Angu Walters interest in painting started when he was a boy experimenting with ink from different pen colors, mixed and applied them on torn cardboards, which were sometimes hung on the walls of his motheraEURtms sitting room. His mother invited Spee, a very famous artist to show him what the child was doing with the materials he could find in his milieu, thereafter the artist took him to his workshop, under his guidance so to better improve on his skills. Since then, he has had a professional revolution with much inspiration drawn from his fine arts mentor. Angu Walters dwells mostly on abstract and surreal paintings which focus mostly on the painful side of life like poverty and disease. He also paints music which he claims reflects the happy side of life. His works express surrealism because he believes that his dreams are inspirational to his life and works. Lazaro Hurtado - Lazaro Hurtado is an artist currently living in Buenos Aires, were he works . Since early childhood he have the overwhelming need to create and explore the reality in a personal way. So thats how he would spend his afternoons after school , making mud sculptures and giving life to them by putting live insects inside . Seeing entire landscapes and beens on the moisture of the walls, feeling himself carried inside those worlds. He states than more than an artist, he is a thinker.
