  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Mody Thomas - I was born and brought up in India I have been painting through my early days. The paintings were visuals that remained as imprints on my mind. The paintings have reflected my perspectives as a spectator and as a participant. At the other level my exhibits invite a social context to my work; the intention has always been to pause by at how beautiful life is . I do not believe in showing sadness as a theme. The most important aspect of my painting is the pleasant and happy mood associated with it. Through my painting, I enjoy celebrating life. This could be one of the reasons why people like and own it. ...

Gadadhar Das - Artist Statement: The Proper Counseling & Guidance can change the neglected & destitute street Children as a perfect human being. I think, the discarded Tree Roots & Branches would be an attractive Art object in the same way. I collect the discarded tree roots from Forest & roadside those are lying for destroy by fire or any other way. I try to identify the basic structural pieces of the roots and branches of various trees, driven by naturally possessed artistic vision and then shaping them to various final forms like Hindu Deities, Animals and various others objects etc., which are entirely hand made sculptors out of specially selected single pieces of roots and branches of trees of various shapes and sizes. I look forward sincerely for my work to earn its due appreciation among the art lovers. ...

Timea Farkas - All my art adheres to one basic rule: LOVE is the greatest ART above all. I am inspired by my positive emotions and fantasies. Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Paul Orzech - Paul Orzech Sculpture Studio Artist Statement: The heart of my artwork is expressed by the words "Classical form with a modern edge." As an artist, I feel the need to incorporate the classic concepts of the human figure from the Ancient Greek and Italian Renaissance periods, with the more message-oriented elements of today's art. My belief in the beauty and power of the raw human form is exquisitely celebrated in the classical forms of sculpture. The modern themes I treat in my art include feminism; contemporary ideas of spirituality and love; and the all consuming presence time plays in our fast-paced American lives. I feel there is a quiet strength in the combination of established classics and contemporary expression that demonstrates a smooth continuity of social history. ...

Diana Lorena Pirez - Art is everything, and anything. it is the ultimate drug, something you just can't nor want to get rid off. it owns you and not the other way around, and it is of course, what I see myself doing for the rest of my life. these photos, these drawings and paintings, own a bit of my heart. each one of them have something so valuable and unique in my perception, that a white box will never be enough to explain. it is also yours to contemplate, experiment, enjoy. your cooperation will allow me to buy new material and never stop doing what I believe in, to finish college and hopefully- move to the united states to pursue my dream of becoming a professional fine art photographer. for your time, thank you ...

Bobbie Newman - BOBBIE NEWMAN - CHICAGO SCULPTOR I sculpt scenes to express the beauty of human beings in a simple moment, and also scenes which depict my own revelations about life. Bernd Wachtmeister - Bernd Wachtmeister is one of those people who devote a great deal of time to analysing themselves in the context of their surroundings. Many of his feelings, impressions and thoughts find expression in his artistic work. They come to light, so to speak, through form and colour. For Wachtmeister, creating art is a statement of passion as well as purpose. It might not be immediately apparent when looking at his pictures that they have involved a high degree of effort on my part. It might also be possible that, at first sight, they seem somewhat immature, light-hearted, maybe even playfully naive. However, when reflecting on their meaning as expressed in their titles it will become evident that there is an ironic, critical depth to works that, on the face of it, may appear to be straightforward and friendly. While art is for Wachtmeister both a calling and a passion, he devotes himself professionally to visual communication. Since 1990, he has worked successfully as a freelance graphic designer, mainly in the areas of advertising/promotion, publishing and new media. Wachtmeister's special interest is the illustration as well as the design of signets (CI), posters, websites, packaging, brochures and ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Derek Murphy - My work plays with absurd images, seeking a levity that is beyond explanation. The less meaning a piece has for me, the happier I am with it. I think words are a beautiful artform quite separate from the field of painting, and I don't like to mix mediums. Painting focuses and elevates my appreciation for life. My style is erratic and yet comprehensive. Each piece is completely unique in the world in that it captures an idea, and not just a picture. I find that what people believe in limits their understanding and appreciation for the mystery that is beyond our capabilities to imagine. What we can label and rationalise and comprehend are far lesser shadows than what we can sense if we are open to any possibility. Sometimes I just like to shock people into being aware of what makes them angry, what their boundaries are. ...

Michael Sharpe - Michael Sharpe is a self-taught artist and his artwork ranges from many, many, many nudes, to landscapes, flowers and dancers. Michael has a fascination with the human body, which is the most natural of beauties. An array of pastels, oils, pencil, watercolours and acrylics will greet you as you enter his world. His sculptures, again diverse, range from natural abstracts in wood to complex figure studies in a variety of media. ...
