Artists Describing Their Art:

Jean-Luc Lacroix - Jean-Luc Lacroix offers to older tools, utensils or other items the chance of a life more beautiful, a contemplative retreat. His talent in the art of recovery and his imagination in the creative reconstruction are without limits. A chair or a console in the sculptured design gives the tray of a pedal assembly the elegance of lace, a fifth wheel as a small pedestal table makes it a beautiful set to pulleys and cranks... But the effect of his work would be incomplete if it did not emphasize the humor that runs through each part: a phantasmagoric bestiary or realistic vain brightenes his work, as well as suggestive names like aEURoeHangover seweraEUR, aEURoeUrlubaEUR or aEURoeBrutusaEUR. Abroad (paintings & sculptures): - represented by Jacques Boulan (Art Editor): Japan. Sweden. Norway. Germany. France. - USA. Belgium. Luxemburg. Spain. United Kingdom. Patrick Lynch - Inspired by the English Pre-Raphaelites and the writings of late Victorian Kentucky poets Madison J. Cawein and Robert Burns Wilson, my paintings are of the eternal human quest for love set in a lost Gothic world inhabited primarily by women who are caught in the contradictions of their dreams and how they have found their world to actually be. Many of the inhabitants are haunted, but not by supernatural forces. When ghosts appear, they are not always the spirits of lost loved ones, more often, they are the ghosts of an idea or dream-for example, the idea that one can find a lifelong and true love or of that one person who simply cannot be forgotten. The women who spread their wings are not angels in the expected sense; their wings are a manifestation of the forces that shape their lives. Men are sometimes present in my images, often in an embrace of acceptance and partnership as they share the immutable longing for love. At other times, men are found at that pivotal moment of undesired separation or are reaching out to comfort those in pain. But not every moment is one of tragic endings. There are moments ...

Obert Fittje - In addition to the mythology of our culture, we all have certain experiences, expressions and images that have deep personal significance and meaning. These form the foundation of our personal mythology. Some of us have richer and more elaborate personal mythologies than others. Recently I came to the realization that I was mainly painting the images of my own personal mythology. I am self taught as a painter and after painting for eleven years, I consider that to my advantage as the icons of my mythology are rarely something out there in the material world. My paintings lie somewhere between the presence and the absence of an identifiable image. It would have been a waste of time for me to have spent years learning the techniques to make my paintings look realistic because the subjects of my mythology are mostly imaginary. I do not go outside to nature to find the subjects of my paintings, but rather I paint inside using my imagination and the images of my personal mythology. As a retired professional psychologist, I have been trained in the use of projective tests such as the Rorschach Inkblots where the observer is presented with purposely-vague images. The ...

Tineke Kleij-Van Den Boomen -

Hubert Cance - "Multi-talented artist Hubert Cance has an astounding range of work, from fanciful illustrations of knights and medieval machinery to mystical, beautifully crafted paintings. Born in Aurillac, France, Cance's youthful imagination was stimulated by growing up in a house filled with books on local history, folk stories and classical culture. Following his military service, Cance worked as a freelance pattern designer for a variety of scale-modeling firms, a position that strengthened his technical skills. His concise illustrative work has been published in numerous books and periodicals from England to Japan. Cance's attention to detail is a dominant force in his paintings that is rivaled only by his boundless imagination. His audience will revel in Cance's imaginings, a world of elemental spirits, ancient forests, and epic battles. Cance is adept at capturing more delicate moments as well, such as in his landscapes of flowing pine trees or the still waters of Venice cloaked in moonlight. Hubert Cance lives and works in France." (ArtMine) "Hubert Cance is an artist with a draftsman's hand and eye. His work ranges from fantasy explorations of the worlds of mysticism and shamanism to highly formalized aviation drawings and mechanical representations. The...

Edward Tabachnik - Edward Tabachnik Through all my works you will find that my attitude toward color and light combines tradition of impressionism with various surrealistic situations. Working on illustrations for Kafka's novels, I was looking for a symbolic image of a mystical town. I found it in Gaudi's "Sagrada Familia". Almost on each of my paintings you can see my "signature"- flying phantasmagoria tower, which has become for me a living entity, procreating itself, connecting The Past with The Future. Fascinated with the theory of Black Holes and the origin of The World is also reflected in many paintings in the form of "Singularity", through which Time passes, connecting The Past with The Future. I was always attracted to mystery of Kabbalah, and to other Jewish teachings. Many of my works are related to these themes. After seeing the destroyed Synagogue in Berlin, I've "recreated" it in my painting, and also dedicated a number of my works to Jewish History. In my works I try to blend my fantasy with sometimes well known, sometimes created architectural details. My schooling was both - in architecture and painting. My love for architecture can be seen through many of my works. There is ...

Eugen Varzic - Very early, as a small boy, I have defined myself as an artist. Of the wounds I have the design, the walls, benches, paper. 1999. degree in painting. Painting as breathing. To be the same, and in a permanent change. So I entered the world of painting. This idea leads me all the time, and I have to admit that sometimes it is not easy. I think that the work of painter most loneliest job. My wish is to stay on my way, and honestly continue to create art every day.To learn and see more. At least once by the end of life re-discover the child in myself. Inspiration is music. Sometimes in the silence I could not take the brush in hand ... Inspiration is the written word. Inspiration in history, religion, practically in everything. A main inspiration and the center of my art is man. Inspiration is the history of art. All. All. With the same passion I feel the bulls in Altamira and sculptures of Damien Hirst . I like to paint, I love to create some new worlds. Sometimes I think over my artwork. These are my painted logs that show me when I was happy, ...
