Artists Describing Their Art:
Donna Gallant - Art is a daily routine in my life. I see, hear, taste, feel and smell the life that surrounds me and I am inspired by the simplest aspects of this world. Whether it be the way the light hits an object or the way objects or forms move in space. I find it all so fascinating and alive. I try to portray these experiences and expressions through my art making....

Presecan Claudiu - Path Over The Water aEURoeFrom Behind the VeilaEUR In Claudiu PresecanaEURtms recent series of paintings and drawings, Path over The Water, his investigation into how gesture is translated into visual imagery continues. Using a variety of methods of applying pigmentsaEUR"pouring, dripping, smearing, dropping, erasingaEUR"this series walks an edge between figuration and abstraction. Inspired by the vast Danube Delta which transverses his native Romania with its lagoons, reeds, hidden recesses, and isolated villages this art speaks to movement, change and, in a poetic way, to continuity. This work does not, however, portray a specific landscape; rather it speaks to an experience that transcends place and time. During the communist regime in Romania, which ended in 1989, reeds from the delta were extensively, and determinately, harvested with the goal of transforming the delta into a large agro-industrial zone. The reed, in PresecanaEURtms previous series, Traces of Water, is a symbol of the individual, freedom, and resistance, essentially a life force that perseveres. In his current work, the imagery of the reed becomes more and more abstracted leaving in its wake a trace, a quivering, of its being. Movement replaces figuration and form occupies space much as dancers ...
Amit Bar - In 1950 I was born in Kibbutz Kfar Hamaccabi, Israel, where I lived until 1988. As a kibbutz-member I was not able to take a complete study at an art-college. Therefore I followed evening-lessons drawing for many years. In 1984 I finally got the permission to study creative art at the university. My study at the university of Haifa was combined with Comparative Literature and took three years. I have learned there a lot about various forms of Creative Art. As follows, I decided to dedicate my interest on photography. My final project was children photography. Since 1988 I live in Doetinchem, The Netherlands, and work as a freelance-photographer and painter. In my commercial work I take photographs for a stock agency and make commissioned work. Wishing to combine my photography with drawing and painting, I began to mix them in my artistic work. It began in 1992 with photo collages and took another form in 1996 with body-paintings. Thank you very much for your visit. I wish you lots of pleasure on my gallery and my site, at www.amitbar.com! Amit Bar....
Malcolm Tuffnell - Malcolm Tuffnell Is a tremendous talent in contemporary figurative painting. His works exist between a realistic drawn representation of the female figure and an abstract use of impasto and color. He has been exploring the possibilities of oil paint and pastel for over 30 years, with particular attention paid to how color layers interact with eachother; specifically how thin overglazes of a strong color, for example phthalo blue or rose red, can change the character of the paint or pastel underneath them in unexpected ways, producing many new colors while neutralizing others into grays. He has chosen the female form as the subject of his paintings for its beauty, sensuality and historical precedent. He uses the fluidity of oil to express the sensuality of nude skin. Many of his works derive inspiration from the frequent opera and ballet performances he attends, such as Madame Butterfly and The Nutcracker ballet. However, he does not intend to illustrate a story explicitly but instead to suggest a more vague emotional narrative. Education/Accomplishments From 1977-1979 Mr. Tuffnell attended the University of California, Santa Barbara and studied with noted teacher Gary Brown; when there he traveled to Europe, where he was inspired to ...
Animesh Roy - "I don't pretend that I paint because I want to say something or convey a message. So, please don't read any hidden meanings into my paintings. I paint because I like to portray the happier side of life -- beautiful landscapes, for example -- because I think that there are enough artists painting the morbid side." "I love to travel because that's where the so-called inspiration comes, so I hope to travel more, paint and be generally happy." -- Excerpt from an interview....

Iva Kalikow - My first love was interior design which I studied at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. I went on to study drawing and color at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. At first, I thought I wanted to design furniture, but while living in L.A. I took a class in stained glass and I was hooked. My approach is one of the overall interior design of the room as well as the architectural aspects. My stained glass art panels are created in the traditional lead technique seen for centuries in churches and cathedrals. Using a wide array of both handmade and manufactured glass in every conceivable color and texture, I am constantly visualizing how natural light will illuminate the work. In selecting my palette of glass, do I use a rough wavy glass or a smooth texture, do I want it translucent or opaque I then meticulously hand cut each individual piece of glass, grind the edges and wrap it in malleable lead came strips, then solder and cement to create my original custom designed interpretations. My most recent collection is inspired by the Masters of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism, Fauvism, and Cubist periods of Art - ...
Tzipi Biran - I try to express the feminine experience as a complete individual that is constantly engaged in fulfilling her independence and femininity. Parallel to this, I emphasize the potential of a harmonious and holistic connection within a nourishing, supporting and creative relationship between a couple, a promoting and protective partnership within a spiritual and physical connection. The figures in my works are like the dance of life in which the steps of one are adjacent, connecting, opposing, and supporting to that of others, creating a changing and constant movement. ...
Nikolai Bartossik - I believe that only a new form can express a new idea. Art for me is a celebration of passion. By the artist's method, I analyze a process of creating forms. I explore a plastic finesse of emotion. I want to discover tensions that arise during the process of collision and transmission of energies. I want to discover an essence of "I" in a great system of tensions....
