  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Maria Visser - This is the story of me and the women in my life. This is how I see us - all in black and white, with light and shade, being softcentered , hardcored , subtle , robust, demure and presumptuous for being like this, is the only way a society can be build on us women. This is the story of the women in my life - they are all farmworkers, working with us on a tablegrape farm next to the Orange river. To me . they are pillars of strength by being trustworthy, hardworking, honest , reliable and women .. I simply MUST draw them because I can see their true beauty - I hope you can too! ...

Jean Le Baron - Art is an expression of emotion, of time suspended, of finding beauty in unexpected places. My favorite form of expression is paint on canvas; however, I have never met a surface or medium I didn't like. Creating art is a solitary business, so in order to interact with other artists, I am a member of several art groups, and I am currently serving as President of The TOMS RIVER ARTISTS CO-OPERATIVE, Exit 81 (TRACx81). ...

Lubov Meshulam Lemkovitch - Lubov Meshulam Lemkovich I am primarily a portrait painter. Whilst I experiment with different genres both abstract and realistic, my favorite genre has to be the art of portraiture. I am fascinated by life drawing; I love the people that I depict and I see in each of them a unique personality and beauty that is found in every man and every woman ... I communicate with the sitter and in the process of drawing I understand more and more about them; so much so that I can really relate on an individual basis to everyone I draw In the process of portrait painting there is a lot of psychology ... ultimately I believe the final result is a mutual understanding, rewarding to both parties ...

Eve Jorgensen - Far North Queenlsand artist, Eve Jorgensen takes inspiration from the Natural Australian landscapes to develop individual paintings. Capturing the essence of Autralian diversity, from the dry dusty stockmans lifestyle to the cane farming heritage. The rich colours capture the essence of the Australian bush, rainforests, beaches, birds, flowers and wildlife. Each painting is an individually thought out process. It is not dictated by current fashion and home decor trends. Although Eve is extensively world travelled and has seen many sites around the globe that testify to natures magnificent beauty, Eve is foremost an Australian and all her inspiration and enthusiasm to paint scenes come from the Australian landscape. ...

David Rocky Aguirre - ************** To me, Art seems to be a universal language. It can be used to portray something beautiful and uplifting, or to portray a tragedy to motivate and move people to act. To motivate them to help in some way as in Picasso's "Guernica 1937". I have a wide range in creative interests, from most forms of painting- oil to watercolor and on to print forms, sculpture, photography, film and computer animation. Contact me for any creative projects you may have....

Barry Scharf - My professional career began in 1973 when I earned my MFA. In my early works I felt my paintings where an illusion and only seemed to partially fulfill my desire for a more complete expression. Now my works explore the interplay of transitional reality and abstract concepts in oil on canvas and digital photography. It is provocative to me to express myself through physical, intellectual, and spiritual endeavors . My art offers me the forum for this expression. The viscosity of paint gives scale, while it's liquid flow carries the emotions of a poetic heart. The formation of shapes into composition express a thoughtful logic and the unity of all elements breaths life into the spirit of the work. In addition explored shapes and content fits with my digital images. Pursuit of excellence in design, craftsmanship and expression are my artistic goals. To create images that provoke thought and communicate our connection with nature, spirit, self and each other. ...

Barry Scharf - Alan Hogan - Alan Hogan's view of Art is that it is something that should be enjoyed by all types of people, whether young, old, modern or old-fashioned. He says it is difficult to keep painting the same subjects, variety is very important to him. Unlike so many artists of the past and present, he wants to explore and discover more of what different people from different backgrounds view as good art. Of course Alan has a lot of admiration for many of todays artists as well as the great artists of the past. Alan aims to develop a good relationship with people, whatever their background, by bringing to them a style of art that not only the artist but also the people can enjoy and understand. Alan also says that the styles of painting he uses may change now and then, simply because society and people change. Apart from an inspiring train journey around Europe many years ago and all the wonderful things Mother Nature has to offer, Alan says that much of the inspiration he gets for his paintings nowadays comes from two sources. Firstly, it is good to keep up-to-date on what people want style-wise ...

Dennis Rennock - Dennis Hugh Rennock artist statement From the pure and simple clarity of vision to the intensely multifaceted and complex visual arts purpose is to stimulate individual growth in thought, perspective, wonderment and truth. Intellectual and emotional representation of line, stroke and color breathe life into the artists vision of truth, beauty, concern and or belief. Along with freedom, the artist employs a wealth of pragmatic disciplines and self-imposed principles to craft and reveal or refine a work of art. My work appeals to the general American and British audience, black and other people of color, major influences come from the mastery of Da Vinci, Escher, Thiebaud, Basquiat, Cassatt, Augusta Savage, Norman Lewis Chuck Close....
