  • Artists Describing Their Art:

John Douglas - John Douglas is an Australian multi-media artist whose painting exhibitions have received acclaim and caused controversy both in his home country and internationally. He began painting at the age of 8, and studied at the Queensland College of Art until his expulsion in 1984 for being a "disruptive and disturbing influence", after which his career really took off. His photography encompasses a broad spectrum of styles and themes, including publications in Thailand, Denmark, Sweden, United Arab Emirates, China, Qatar, Australia and Japan. John Douglas currently has his short film "Painting Air" in a solo web exhibit for The Istanbul Museum of Contemporary Art. ...

Debbi Chan - I am going to do an updated artist's statement. But until I submit it you have a short temporary one. As an artist I an fullfilled and contend. But at the same time I seek more , absorb more, and enjoy more. Art fills and fullfills me..I am always being an artist. My eyes see art always. This is not a hobby that I partake of when time suits. Art feeds me. Art consoles me. And being prolific it also takes my time. And for this I am thankful that i listened to my inner self. I am thankful for a following that grows by the minute. I enjoy you enjoying my portfolio. I also have come to realize that the coined phrase "starving artist" is a reality for some of us. But if you take another quote, my own , you will see that starving and rich pertain to material $. because of you the viewers , and because art is my life and my passion I can truly say that I AM RICH.. RICH WITH NO MONEY... and I can also say with truth that I am happy. I chose the path that allowed this rich life. There will continue ...

Thinn Thinn - I like to draw people on the street . Especially I love to draw women and kids. I want to share story of people on the street and my country culture. I used to use different kinds of media. I mostly used watercolor and pen. ...

Amy Wetterlin - I strive to exalt the human spirit through capturing composition, structures (organic and non)and repeating patterns. The patterns and forms create an abstract while maintaining balance and movement of life force. Life either moves or is stagnant...it's up to you. Thanks for looking! Cheers Amy...

Amy Wetterlin - Loretta Nash - I love to create things. I got into being an artist because it allowed me to let my imagination flourish with out judgment. I like the encouragement and the satisfaction that I did something with my own hands. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Art in 1992. My themes of my works go everywhere. Everything inspires me. For example just recently a hand dryer blowing on my skin gave me an idea. I run with the ideas or I just let them die. The pencil/pen has always been my tools of choice because they were easy to sneak to paying jobs with the sketch book to do during downtime and breaks. The paint brush is just an extension on the pencil/ink. Since 1999, I upload design pieces onto various art production retail sites. (i.e. www.redbubble.com/lorgh, www.loretta-nash.fineartamerica.com, www.zazzle.com/lorettanash, www. artwanted.com/lorgh, www.flickr.com/lorgh, www.lorettanash.co.cc, etc.) Since October 2010, I created caricatures at local events and of private citizens. I have not stopped creating. ...

Lina Golan - Lina Golan Statement Sounds, colors and shapes have accompanied my journey through life, since the dawn of my childhood. It was clear to me even then, that art would be a way of life for me. I have studied painting, sculpting and music with wonderful teachers ,who helped focus my attention on the fact, that art is predominantly about observing and listening. The essence of my creation is inspired by nature itself, not in the sense of "landscape paintings", but based on events and its mystical qualities: the contrasts, the rhythms, the never-ending transformations, the mystery, the enormous energies - all of which have affected my artistic microcosmos. Being a musician and a painter, I feel there is a wonderful interaction between music and painting where sound can be nourished by color, and a plastic piece can play. ...

Paolo Avanzi - Paolo Avanzi is an emerging Italian artist. He is arrived to the visual arts, after several experiences in different area (such as psychology, music, creative writing, organization, computer graphics) which enable himself to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to the artistic creativeness. His recent production is based on computer painting techniques applied to Pop Art. This approach determines a distortion of traditional perspective that influences not only the colors but also the forms and dimensions of the object. In such direction the artist intends to develop his research in order to revitalize the Pop Art by contributions of abstractist matrix. Paolo Avanzi in the last years participated to several solo and collective exhibitions and art fair both in Italy and abroad. His artworks are also exhibited in many international virtual galleries on web....

Sylva Zalmanson - Before I became a painter, before I even thought I could, I would look for long hours at the pictures painted by beloved artists and feel their deep pain. I felt that I was not the only one in this world that had a desperate need to make everyone cognizant of this sorrow. Can anything be more important than irresistible art luring and hypnotizing down through the generations with its mysterious riddle and its genius magic touch....

Nicole M. Mathieu - Difficult to talk about art as one should, first of all, feel it. What is more fantastic that listening to a piece of music, reading a novel or seeing an artwork which will transport you deeply inside. For me, Art is not a duplication of what one sees, it should transcend it. My portraits were done in this sense trying to transpose the invisible part of the model. In my recent oil paintings, I try to give sounds with colors which reflects life itself and will remind you of things that seem familiar. Last December 2011, I moved to a beautiful art studio in Paris (near Place d'Italie) and you are welcome to visit my atelier while on vacation. Please call me before at 00 33 (0)663528344 ...

Durlabh Singh - Sice R.Mutt's urinal, visual art in the western world has suffered a shock & a decline. It has become mere conceptual & has gone back to literary traditions of making statements.Abstraction has become a puritan's attitude of non-depiction of human body in a dignified form.My art is a sort of revolt against this kind of pseudo-intellectualism. My art takes account of both biological & metaphysical aspect of human body.It is a breakthrough to new levels of reality creating significant forms necessary for development of human spirit. I welcome any suggestions or comments regarding my work. If anyone is interested in buying please contact me.Main aim of my art has never been financial gains. I have exhibited all over the world including India, Kenya, Helsinki, Paris, London & New york etc.My work is in private & public collections incliding Ministry Of DefenceLondon & Horniman Museum London....

Israel Tsvaygenbaum - I believe that art is as necessary as the air we breathe; it is what makes us human. As an artist, my role is to help people fulfill this need. My medium is oil on canvas. I like the roughness, the vibrancy of oil. Through oil, I can best express myself. I love the process of painting. When I'm painting, I don't think about the finished product or the viewer; I just focus on being true to the process. Before I ever touch the canvas, or begin to sketch, I let the images swirl around in my mind. Then, I begin a series of sketches to translate my thoughts into more concrete images. As the images take shape on the canvas, they begin to change. Sometimes, I myself am surprised at the outcome. What kind of painting do I do? I don't like labels; I prefer to be free to interpret my ideas as they come to me. Some of the themes that have figured in my paintings are my personal past, Jewish history, Biblical themes and nature. A number of my paintings are set in Derbent, a city in the south of Russia where I spent ...

Elena Zhogina - I am a self taught artist in love with what I do. I love research into form, color, texture, styles and fantasies. I am a self-made artist. In contrast to classical school of painting I use intuition and feelings to express myself. For me the world of painting allows to find my own way of self-expression and reveal my true personality. Some paintings start from one idea but with time discover to me new things. They bring harmony and happiness into my life. I am focused on drawing/painting portraits/people and various types/styles of motion. There are several symbolism works in my portofolio describing certain period of my life and my reflections thereon. Its a pleasure to share it with you ...

Mark Baranowski - I've been blessed with the talent for drawing, thus I do so with the utmost attention to every detail I see in the original images I work from--I wouldn't expect anyone to show an interest in my work, otherwise. People fascinate me, especially their facial features and expressions, as do urban landscapes and architecture. These subjects make up the majority of my portfolio. Though I've been drawing for nearly as long as I could write my name, I've yet to achieve my goal of gaining worldwide recognition for my works, not to mention making a comfortable living in doing so. Perhaps via absolutearts...?...
