  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Sylvain Chamberlain - The Provocative Image Painting has the power to transform. The subject of my work is memory. The content of my work is the transformative provocations of manipulating that memory. Language provides an illusion of communication. Investigation into motifs that challenge, shout or recede and are all but mute are my constant attempt at communication, but forever uncertain and ever surprised, this language, this mission, this struggle, remains... "My art and my Buddhist practice are the reason my heart continues to beat. If either my artworks or my life can spark life's interminable fire in others, in any small way, I am deeply grateful and inspired." ...

Richard Wynne - Richard is an acclaimed International Artist recently returned to the USA. Richard has lived in many Countries. "The last being Thailland. He started his art studies at a very young age at the John Herron Art Institute In Indianapolis, Indiana and then later at the Art Institute of Chicago Richard has lived in many countries, painting, and playing music. Mr Wynne has exhibited in Thailand, the United States, Spain, Argentina, Kuwait, Korea, Ihdia, and other Countries. Sometimes perhaps I say too much about my self but maybe it helps people understand what motivates my work. For your information I've lived in 8 different countries and have been around the world 5 times. I speak a few different languages, some very well; others not so well. By the way I am not a workaholic as I don't consider what I do work. I enjoy life too much. I forgot to say I am also a weight lifter as lifting weights is my Zen. When I am troubled the concentration it takes to lift makes me calm. I guess my page will probably be a little different from what people expect. Sorry I have not been uploading new work as ...

Laurie Pagels - "I have been impressed with the urgency of doing. Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do" -- Leonardo DaVinci Today must not be a souvenir of yesterday, and so the struggle is everlasting. Who am I today? What do I see today? How shall I use what I know, and how shall I avoid being victim of what I know? Life is not repetition. (Robert Henri)...

Carol Donahue - Kalathil - I studied Computer Graphics, and Fine Art at Tompkins Cortland Community College 2000, then transfered to the State University of New York at Cortland College to study Fine Arts 2002. While attending Cortland College I concentrated on a new medium, ceramics. For the first time in my life I discovered the wonderful tactile world of clay. Most of my hand built projects were envisioned in my mind's eye, and then communicated through my hands. The clay spoke to me, each time I put my hand into the clay, the creative forces with in me took over. I am an Illustrator, and paint in watercolor, acrylics, and oil. I also am involved in Computer Graphics and design with my partner, who is a web designer. I enjoy creating and feel that art is the true way to communicate emotions and the driving force of life it self. 2006-2007 currently studying at The Armory Art Center West Palm Beach Florida. Involved in Hand Sculpted Ceramics, and Painting the Figure. Sincerely, Carol Donahue-Kalathil ...

L Gonzalez - I draw whenever the urge hits me. When moments of quiet descend upon me, I find a bit of digital fingerpainting eases any mood. My current artistic endeavors are digitally oriented. I find that digital media makes the creation process for an artist that much easier. I started with traditional media but found myself draw in by the ease of digital art. I use a number of software to create my works. Most of the works on this site were created with "Expression" by Creature house. It's a versatile illustration program. I also use Bryce 4 for 3D rendering, Adobe Photoshop (I have 6.0) and Painter Classic. The latter is a very nice software that allows you to fake oil painting, watercolor and other traditional media. It's very handy for practicing at traditional arts w/o the messy clean up and hassles. I've also begun using Terragen for 3D scenery. If not for the game Myst, I probably never would have attempted digital art. It was my interest in the creation of the game Myst that peaked my interest in digital art. With the help of friends and acquaintances online who were also intrigued with digital ...

Claire Petit - In my work, beings of dream and intimacy migrate slowly to the merry-go-round of birth, death, and rebrith. Different periods and series rub shoulders in my decades of paintings. Duality breathes deeply, and from one life to the next, powerful feminine energy dominates moving, introspective, multiple, often wrapped in a gentle violence. Since 1989, I have been traveling and working between France and the United States. I had my first solo show in 1999 at the 24 Gallery in New York City. In 2004 my work was represented and exhibited at the Grant Gallery. In 2005 I left for Mexico, where I maintained a studio for three months in Oaxaca. From 2005 to 2010, my work was represented and exhibited by the Opera Gallery in New York City. During those years I regularly painted in New York. Since 2010 my work has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels, Luxembourg Metz. My studio is in Nancy, where I live. Christine Montague - Christine Montague is a professional award winning visual artist known for her portraiture commissions, figurative landscape art, and polar bear oil paintings. Why polar bears The character and spirit of the bears, their high intelligence think great ape, their solitary lifestyle, excellent mothering skills, their place in our world, and the very landscape they wander in, embodies all that I have tried to represent in my other artworks - spirit, character, intelligence, personality, solitude without loneliness, discovery, mindfulness, joy, beauty, escape. Travels to the Canadian arctic Iqaluit Cape Dorset in Nunavut and subarctic Churchill,Manitoba, Canada - polar bear capital of the world and my stay at the Churchill Northern Studies Centre Churchill, Manitoba, Canada, furthered my education and wonder for these magnificent bears and the magical landscape and skyscape - the northern lights. Polar bears are definitely a canary in the coal mine symbol of climate change and my polar bear paintings often symbolize this potential for great loss as their numbers reduce. The effect vanishing ice has on the survival of the polar bear resulted in my series such as the Sink Swim Series. But other works simply pay tribute to this wonder animal in its magical, mysterious environment of frozen ...

Zaher Bizri - Zaher El-Bizri is a young Lebanese artist. He specializes in painting and mixed-media pictorial and plastic arts. He developed a refined expertise in watercolors, in oil paintings, charcoal drawing, and graphic design, with a highly skilled use of Information Technology tools besides classical artistic media. El-Bizri focuses principally on representational and pictorial depictions of everyday scenes and quotidian intimate public spaces, of diverse characters and portraits, while being particularly inspired by the Levantine Mediterranean cultural milieu, and primarily by the architecture of the medieval quarters of the ancient Lebanese port city of Sidon (Saida). His artistic endeavors explore the profound promising potentials that remain presently contained within classical styles in painting, as well as experimenting with abstract configurations in pictorial art. His artistic activities are also situated within urban places, and they act as inspirational catalysts for stimulating dynamic cultural practices in the public domain in the form of installations, sculptures, and series of murals. El-Bizri received his Diploma in Fine Arts (Beaux Arts) in 2000, from the Lebanese University in Beirut. His prolific artistic productions and creative works have been exhibited on a regular basis since 1998 in numerous prestigious art galleries and venues. He ...
