  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Austen Pinkerton - Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. A lot of my work is autobiographicalaEUR|either directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously. It is frequently very personal, and expresses events or circumstances or experiences in my life. I usually work in either Acrylic on Canvas, Crayon or Pastel, or both together, with Gouache, on card, Drawing in pencil, or Ink, or both, or with creating SculptureaEUR|for which I use fired artists clay. Sculpture follows a completely different set of rules and values from two-dimensional art, obviously, I think of it as Drawing in three dimensions and I take this into account when creating mine. In all my...

Vincent Von Frese - I love the reflection of a sense of wonder in nature while building a sculptural form. A clear presence of forms in metal, wood and stone has revealed to me a personal connection with what was formerly an inanimate object which has become transformed into a living presence quite alive and memorable to all who might be exposed to its existence. I believe we humans are generally speaking the sum total of all we have been and learned. Therefore I attempt to naturally transform my own life experience into each work I produce as art. Recognizing that life is seen and experienced by our senses individually it reveals cognition at varied levels of perception by each persons viewpoint individually. I am only concerned with how I myself personally perceive the art I am producing or have produced while in the act of being an artist. Abstraction in my work is the bending and molding of living entities which I call Zoomorphic Forms. I recognize the appearance of subtle entities which are the hallmark of these abstractions. The recognition of images in clouds, as an example, is subtle and surprising and I extrapolate this entity and integrate it into sculpture and ...

Guy Octaaf Moreaux - Since the end of August 2019 I moved back to Brussels, Belgium. The three years I spent in Kenya have been super interesting and moved me to paint my african impressions. I feel privileged to have learned so much of this wonderful part of the world which was quite foreign to me before. Life is full of emotions about people, nature, things etc...and leaving Kenya will be hard indeed. One of the biggest luxuries in life, is to live surrounded by beauty. This is what I am trying to do. And yes one can see beauty everywhere...it is a state of mind. Harmony is an integral part of beauty, this is what I am trying to convey in my work. It is indeed a necessity for me to create. It has always been this way for as far as I can remember. Not creating makes me feel empty and unfulfilled. In every day life it pervades all my actions, from cooking to finding different places to visit, walk, etc....Have a look at the furniture I created lower in my portfolio. The architects who sold my furniture were the first ones to sell my paintings. For painting, nature ...

Dan Shiloh - I was born in Jerusalem Israel. I attended an officers nautical school and served in the navy as an engineer on a destroyer. After the navy I moved to Chicago USA and studied architecture at U of I Chicago campus and graduated in 1972 . I moved back to Israel and opened an architectural office in a small settlement in the Galilee region which became very successful. I retired about 10 years ago and opened as a hobby a black smith studio where I made metal sculptures. In 2009 I moved to Tel Aviv and started painting and sculpting in clay which I do up to these days. I was always interested in arts and I enjoy my painting and sculpting very much. Every year I travel to Florence Italy for at least a month where I paint and sculpt in the Accademia de Arte. I think its about time to share my work with the public and I hope it will enrich the homes of who ever likes my works....

Manuela Facchin Varalda - Why painting? For the desire of a deep knowledge of things. Painting, for me, is not only communication, but almost an additional sense, a further perception of world, of the real and of the imaginary, of the material and of the dream, of the objective and of the individual. Painting is for me the place of the revelation, of the primary reflection. As a self taught artist, I have been painting and drawing since I can remember - this is a part of me. I have discovered that Art Wanted is the opportunity to share this part with somebody else, from all over the world, trying to understand, to give a sense to our imagination and needs. Manuela...

Marsha Bowers - Marsha Bowers was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She is a classically trained fine artist, skilled in the old Masters techniques of Flemish/Bistre and Venetian method using a grisaille underpainting and glazing with many layers. Most of her fine art paintings are rendered in oil. She sometimes applies real gold leaf into the artworks. Marsha finds inspiration in the old masters of the past. She spends many hours visiting Museums studying their work. Gothic and Renaissance are her favorite periods along with the Pre-Raphaelites artists. The artist loves the blending of the classical painting techniques with a more contemporary approach to her paintings. Her recent fine art paintings are of women, both figurative and portraiture. The inspiration for her paintings comes from her observations of life itself and through her own experiences. Each painting shares a message, story or emotion. Its what the artist herself describes as a "flowing" of the spirit, a creative process through which the artist paints a story unto the canvas, realizing that each viewer of her work may have their own interpretation of what the art is conveying. Most recently Marsha was invited to be included into the International ...

Heather Hyatt - In my work as a fine artist, I use the mediums of graphite, coloured pencil and oil, in the styles realism, photo-realism, trompe l'oeil and portraiture, Ideas come from literature, metaphors, and the real world. Rather than the imitation of appearance, my concern is with the essence of the subject. In trompe l'oeil, it is the hardness and softness of guns and lingerie, which, when mounted in shadow boxes, become real. In the series,'Dante's Divine Comedy', executed in graphite, the object was to depict the universality of his ideas as they appear today. In all of my work, realism is my focus and goal. ...

Michael Garr - I have been drawing and painting since Junior High. I enjoy quick art, impressionistic yet realistic, and minimal. There are interesting subjects all around us. My inspirations are architecture, people, light and shadow, the sea and boats, imagination... and the old masters. Get out and enjoy your surroundings. All my works are available as signed and numbered prints. I also do commission works, some examples of which are in the portfolio. I donate all proceeds to charity, and have recently teamed with SAVE THE BAY, a local Rhode Island eco-advocate organization, which receives 30 PER CENT of my proceeds. My opportunities for artistic expression have included drawing on napkins during airplane rides and waiting during my sons music lessons. In 2012 I took up oil painting for the first time, and my mentor is Lorena Pugh of North Kingstown. Ive done both Plein air and studio work in her presence, and am benefitting from the association. We have an informal group who meet and paint in Lorenas studio on Monday nights throughout the indoor season. I will continue to pursue art on a daily basis, and post the finished works here and on facebook for any and all to ...

Deborah Paige Jackson - I love art and design in all forms and medium, in every aspect of my life. Its a part of who I am and something I cant get away from. I try to use true to life situations when possible. My favorite medium is watercolor because of the beauty of it. It seems to have a life of its own as it flows and connects with the paper. Yet, the medium forces me to think and use extraordinary control. I am at a point in my life where the thought of art, design, and all the components involved in them consume my thinking. It shows up in my home in decorating, in my garden with landscaping, in my work, even with my family. I look forward to increasing my art presence in my portfolio here and in as many venues as possible. To all who view my work, I wish you much enjoyment. ...
