  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Dan Shiloh - I was born in Jerusalem Israel. I attended an officers nautical school and served in the navy as an engineer on a destroyer. After the navy I moved to Chicago USA and studied architecture at U of I Chicago campus and graduated in 1972 . I moved back to Israel and opened an architectural office in a small settlement in the Galilee region which became very successful. I retired about 10 years ago and opened as a hobby a black smith studio where I made metal sculptures. In 2009 I moved to Tel Aviv and started painting and sculpting in clay which I do up to these days. I was always interested in arts and I enjoy my painting and sculpting very much. Every year I travel to Florence Italy for at least a month where I paint and sculpt in the Accademia de Arte. I think its about time to share my work with the public and I hope it will enrich the homes of who ever likes my works....

Daniel Clarke - Daniel E. Clarke is a Los Angeles Native who has been painting his entire career in the Los Angeles area. Austen Pinkerton - Artists Statement Austen Pinkerton If I turn my mind to it very quickly I can come up with several ideas for works aEUR|paintings, drawings, or sculptures. Sometimes ideas come to me when I least expect it, or when my mind is on other things. Ideas can be related to my current experiences, or to my feelings about things that are happening to me in my life at that particular time. Alternatively they can be related to a current interest, or something that occupies my attention at that moment, and my ideas and feelings about which Id like to share with others. A lot of my work is autobiographicalaEUR|either directly or indirectly, consciously or subconsciously. It is frequently very personal, and expresses events or circumstances or experiences in my life. I usually work in either Acrylic on Canvas, Crayon or Pastel, or both together, with Gouache, on card, Drawing in pencil, or Ink, or both, or with creating SculptureaEUR|for which I use fired artists clay. Sculpture follows a completely different set of rules and values from two-dimensional art, obviously, I think of it as Drawing in three dimensions and I take this into account when creating mine. In...

Natallia Valiukevich - I would like to express my gratitude to my friend Charles Mandel, who inspired me to watercolor painting, and my mom, who makes my work possible. I did not choose watercolor painting. But watercolor painting chose me. I am a Belarusian artist. I studied at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University. By education I am an artist-teacher. After graduating from university, I worked in a printing house as a designer for several years. I did computer sketches for covers, labels, albums and many other printing products. I was successful at my workplace, but the office atmosphere did not match my freedom-loving nature. I quit my job and became a freelancer. I independently studied three-dimensional programs and for 15 years I worked in the computer games industry. I made many three-dimensional houses, monsters, ruins, and crumpled tanks. My child grew up. I saw that he plays a lot of computer games. My work began to bother me. I was not sure that I was doing something good for the children. I left my work. It was a shock to my family. I started retouching and colorize old photos remotely. I met one excellent customer from the USA. For...

Marsha Bowers - Marsha Bowers was born and raised in the Central Valley of California. She is a classically trained fine artist, skilled in the old Masters techniques of Flemish/Bistre and Venetian method using a grisaille underpainting and glazing with many layers. Most of her fine art paintings are rendered in oil. She sometimes applies real gold leaf into the artworks. Marsha finds inspiration in the old masters of the past. She spends many hours visiting Museums studying their work. Gothic and Renaissance are her favorite periods along with the Pre-Raphaelites artists. The artist loves the blending of the classical painting techniques with a more contemporary approach to her paintings. Her recent fine art paintings are of women, both figurative and portraiture. The inspiration for her paintings comes from her observations of life itself and through her own experiences. Each painting shares a message, story or emotion. Its what the artist herself describes as a "flowing" of the spirit, a creative process through which the artist paints a story unto the canvas, realizing that each viewer of her work may have their own interpretation of what the art is conveying. Most recently Marsha was invited to be included into the International ...

Carlos Madriz - CARLOS MADRIZ b. 1972 CARACAS aEUR" VENEZUELA Born and brought up in Caracas, in the mid-80s Carlos started experimenting with drawing, etching, silk-screen printing, design, painting and Street Art. It was at this time that he developed the skills and techniques needed to handle the X-Acto blades that became his constant companion for creating stencils, a defining characteristic of his artwork. He began producing small and medium size prints, small, medium and large paintings, and then murals. In the early 90 s, Carlos began studying at Caracas Advanced School of Arts and at the same time became involved in a number of projects born out of the local punk rock scene, including the design and creation of fanzines and posters and band merchandising activities such as designing and printing tee-shirts. In the mid-90,s he moved to San Francisco, California, where he completed his studies in painting and printmaking and took part in various collective mural projects, taught workshops and exhibited his artwork in a number of group shows in spaces such as Balazo Mission Badlands Gallery, Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts MCCLA, Atelier Golgotha, SoMa Gallery and City Arts SF. Then in 2000 he ...

Iva Kalikow - My first love was interior design, which I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. I went on to study drawing and color at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. There are many design elements that come into play when creating an interior environment. Glass and light are my tools for enhancing the beauty of a structure as well as the ambience of a room. I create one-of-a-kind custom designed leaded stained glass art panels that can be incorporated in interior structures such as doors, windows, room dividers, or displayed hanging as framed works of art. For my latest collection, Ive combined my love of color and glass with my appreciation of master artists and found inspiration from the master works of Picasso, Van Gogh, Modigliani, OKeeffe, Cezanne and Matisse. My glass art panels grace homes in New York City, Miami Beach, West Palm Beach, Los Angeles, Palm Springs and The Berkshires in Massachusetts. ...

John Tooma - This site is only a guide to my artworks, you will appreciate them alot more when they are seen in real life. As a Painter and Graphic Designer/Illustrator, art is everything to me. It's wonderful to have the ability to draw and paint what the eye can see. As an observer, I love to sketch in my pads and photograph most subjects transferring the visual information onto paper, canvas or the computer. I use both film and digital photographic equipment. I draw and paint virtually everything but my passion lies with the human body. I use most mediums such as pencil, pastel, charcoal, ink, watercolour, gouache, acrylic and oil paints. I am for ever experimenting. I also work with traditional airbrushing methods, as well as using the computer airbrushing technique. It is an absolute pleasure to share my passion with you and to speak about it through art. I enjoy sketching people whilst sitting in cafes. I am forever mesmerised with the colours of birds, the pigments of flowers and the reflection of light onto surfaces. I am influenced by many painters, from Raphael to Matisse, Dufy to Klimt and many others. So sit back, grab a coffee ...

Brikena Berdo - I cannot say what really led me to painting. I guess it is related to that inner desire which has made me express myself in this visual language. But what has mostly marked my art and driven me towards endless research is composed of notions such as the sense of time, childhood, human psychology and nature. I think, for some artists, it is true that what they have sought for in their art is something they have missed during their own life, a lack of anything from the real world of ours. I grew up in a aEURoegrey countryaEUR. I lived under a dictatorial regime until the 90aEURtms, which was followed by a transit period of destruction. Hence, so little has been inherited by the previous system. As a result what I perceived of those times came in colourlessly, greyish and meaninglessly in all aspects. It did not make sense at all. The absence of colours led to a hungriness and craving for greens and blues and yellows etc. This thirst for colours found expression later greatly and strongly in my paintings. I love colours and they are important, sometimes more than shape. I like to impose myself through ...
