  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Eve Jorgensen - Far North Queensland artist, Eve Jorgensen takes inspiration from the Natural Australian landscapes to develop individual paintings. Capturing the essence of Autralian diversity, from the dry dusty stockmans lifestyle to the cane farming heritage. The rich colours capture the essence of the Australian bush, rainforests, beaches, birds, flowers and wildlife. Each painting is an individually thought out process. It is not dictated by current fashion and home decor trends. Although Eve is extensively world travelled and has seen many sites around the globe that testify to natures magnificent beauty, Eve is foremost an Australian and all her inspiration and enthusiasm to paint scenes come from the Australian landscape. Eve has sold many paintings within Australia and been the recipient of Highly Commended Art exhibition awards over the years. An artwork, Hardened Souls was gifted to the Qld Premier and accepted in 2013 in recognition of the flood disaster recovery action. ...

Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...

Claudia Luethi Alias Abdelghafar - Personal Statement from Claudia Luethi alias Abdelghafar I love to paint oil colours because they are smooth and I can paint in several coatings. So there is a threedimensional effect in my paintings. I love colours to express the positive attitude to my live. I believe that there is all the time a door open when I believe it. There is no sence to see the negative things in live because all the peoble around me has also negative things in there live. In 2006 I began to paint oilcolour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet. There were peoble telling me to paint abstract things than I would have the better chance to sell it. But I love to paint animals, to bring there soul and character on the canvas or velvet, to give them live that when you pass the painting you are just thinking: ups, this animal has it moved? Also the landscapes and citiescapes have to live, I want really not to copy only fotos but that the peoble can smell the woods or the salt water of the sea, hear ...

Valerie Leri - A strong element throughout my work, is light - both physical and spiritual - through a combination of realism and abstract. My mission is to capture a sense of spontaneity, tranquility, andor movement and energy through the interaction of colors and shapes. I paint with acrylics. Some of my work is interwoven with elements from nature such as bark, sand, stones, shells creating a partiuclar mood and giving the painting three dimensions. I work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense create iself with myself as a conduit to the visual message, thus the end result is more about flow than form. To a limited extent I strive for effect but most often my efforts are toward lifting the veils of illusion to reveal the truth. There is no right way to interpret my art. All of my work is inspired by the need to create exhilaration, inner joy and peace, both for myself and the view. Ultimately my art is an invitation to dream....

Monica Puryear - My paintings and drawings portray personal stories, dreams and fantasies of my deep connection with nature. I frequently use animals and plants that intersect in some way to create a feeling of intimacy and mystery. I use vivid colors and rich details of my subjects in the hope of inticing the viewer into my world to discover and relish the beauty they possess. It is my intention to provide the viewer with a respite from the violent imagery that is so prevalent in our daily lives, so one may enter into a richly colored world in a moment of intense beauty....

Monica Puryear - Renee Rutana - As a child, I was fascinated by the vibrant colors of sunsets, the seasons, flowers and certain landscapes. But all of my life I have suffered from severe asthma. While the other children were outside enjoying the snow or jumping in the fallen leaves, blooming flowers of spring, etc. I was inside, looking out the window wishing I could be a part of it. I would never have acquired my artistic skills if it hadn't been for my asthma. I learned to draw and paint, due to many times staying home in bed or at the hospitals (for a couple weeks at a time)with not much to do. It was my escape, a cherished place I could create and imagine I was there instead. While these days my asthma is better, thanks to new medications, I still feel the joy in my heart of creating a special window to the world, my world, for those also interested to see too. My goal as an artist was to paint these subjects capturing the very things that change quickly due to the season or weather or aging. I wanted to shed light on every day things that many people take ...

Ronald Lunn - As an artist, the art I create is something that doesnaEURtmt have a simple definition. My artwork is about personal growth, I constantly strive to evolve and improve my techniques. I enjoy creating each painting or drawing to visually speak to me and the viewer, tell a story, bring up a memory, or have a pleasing memorable image that feeds the vieweraEURtms heart and soul. I wish for that my artwork may continue leaving a lasting impression, to hopefully uplift and inspire everyone to experience those same emotions, pursue their own dreams and bring refreshment into their life, to see the beauty that exists around all of us. I cherish the feeling that art can be fun, it makes me smile and I still get such a sense of satisfaction from people whether negative or positive. I love what I do and am extremely passionate about the arts. ...

Randy Sprout - I grew up in a small town in Northern Iowa, played football, coached the swimming team, and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in printmaking studying under Mauricio Lasansky. I then went into the Army and ended up pulling 13 months in Korea on the DMZ. Coming out of Korea I entered UCLA and earned a MA and MFA in printmaking while studying under Jan Stussy and Stanton Mac-Donald Wright. The next year after the funds dried up on my Fulbright Award to Portugal, because of the Angola War, I was lucky to get hired by USC where I taught printmaking as a junior faculty member. I also replaced professors at UCLA when they went on sabaticals, and taught one year at Pierce College. In 1977 I tried Real Estate, you know just for the summer, but by fall I had purchased Century 21 Hollywood Inc. and had a new vocation going. Now 31 years into real estate, I'm coming full circle and starting to paint little quick studies 9X12. I'm using just 1/2 inch brushes and 5 colors. I intentionally limit my time to 2 hours after which I stop and throw ...

Dimitri Lazaroff - Like most artists, I work with non-verbal medium - drawing, painting, sculpture etc. - that attempt to convey things which cannot be even remotely described in words. And thats the trouble when being asked to write an artists statement. How one explains that heshe is trying to communicate the unexplainable, things that transcend verbalizing, aspects of existence or glimpses into certain conditions, the occasional insights Artists statements are not really feasible and are bound to be misleading....

Steven Fleit - I am a self taught artist. I have been painting for over twenty years and approximately four years ago I declared myself an Artist in the professional sense. Prior to my declaration as an artist, I built a portfolio of thematic collections. I started with Caribbean tropical paintings. I have expanded my subject matter to, Vineyard, architectural reflection, and travel sight e.g. Venice Series paintings. When I felt that I had put together a substative portfolio, I identified as an artist. I am serious about my craft and I hope you enjoy viewing my work. Thank you....
