Artists Describing Their Art:

James Hill - My work explores the use of color and rhythm to create moving images that seek to provoke a particular mood or emotion by invoking a memory or moment that is meaningful to the viewer. My latest works include a study of the massive power inside thunderstorms and lightning strikes including a 6'x10' oil of a storm entitled "Tempest". These new paintings reflect the change in the weather patterns throughout our world thanks to global warming, which no well-educated person can deny these days. My paintings are intended to glorify God and the awe of creation, the universe, the stars and planets, and our own incredible Earthly skies and lands. My other works include Fantasy, Gothic, Steampunk and Science Fiction of Utopian design cities of the future that require no use of fossil fuels at all as I look to give humanity hope for a better future of free power and sustainable living on this planet as we look to preserve it and encourage the rebuilding of nature across the world as we are but shepherds of God's creation. ...

Luise Andersen - Luise'Mignon' Andersen Luise'Mignon' Andersen has only recently begun to reveal her lifes work. Soon after her debut she exploded onto the mainstream art world. Her breathtaking pieces have captured international interest. The stories Luise'Mignon' is telling through her truly deep, layered works seem to decipher the past and foretell the future, perhaps sharing her window to other dimensions and a seventh sense. Her detailed acrylic'Mignon' series speaks to the beholder. They inspire raw emotion and ignite ones imagination. The indescribable nature of the "Duree De Ma Vie" in particular has a growing portion of the art community considering it the conception of an entirely new style. Ruth Zachary - My goal is to create striking images that touch the viewer emotionally. I try to capture the essence of a subject or scene, so that the viewer reacts with an immediate recognition, and immediate "click" of "Yes." I depend upon composition, simplicity, shape and contrast, as well as my own aesthetic sense and emotional responses. I love creating art through photography. For me it is an opportunity for self-expression, a means of capturing a moment in time and creating beauty, as well as am important means of communication. My education includes a Masters in Social Work and a BA in English Literature. I have done formal study in drawing and pastel, but my photographic study has been informal and self-taught. Since 1980, I have been a frequent visitor to Monhegan Island, 12 miles off the coast of Maine, a remote lobstering island with a summer artists' colony. On Monhegan, I became friends with a group of painters and photographers. I applied what I learned from them to my own work. (Those I am most grateful to include Frances Kornbluth, Leo Brooks, Robin Young, Judi Wagner, Josie Vargas and Nancy Stanich.) I show my art summers on Monhegan Island ...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Tom Irizarry Studio - Oil painter with broad knowledge of historic methods and historic colors. My studio is my laboratory. I make all my paint. My work focuses on elements of the earth air and land. What I observe is beyond a pretty sky or nice landscape. It is the notion that our earth and the universe, are imbued with a specific energy. Historically, this energy was described by the Victorian poet Gerard Manley Hopkins as Instress and Inscape, derived from ideas of the medieval philosopher, Duns Scotus. Scotus argued that there is some matter entirely devoid of form. Paintings can vary from 9 x 12 inches to 6 x 8 feet. Viewers describe a profound feeling from the paintings, regardless of the size. Specialties Historic processes for paint making, mediums, grounds, oils, mineral pigments, oil mediums, tempera mediums, non-silver processes cyanotypes and archival digital pigment prints....

Nancy Bechtol - Artists explore and give the world a view of their personal heightened awareness. I visualize and think with keen beliefs and insights. Reflection of human and societal concerns which cross emotional boundaries-- communicating that which is unspoken. My traditional art foundations of drawing, painting and printmaking, evolved into video, digital photography and experimental media. Claudia Luethi Alias Abdelghafar - Personal Statement from Claudia Luethi alias Abdelghafar I love to paint oil colours because they are smooth and I can paint in several coatings. So there is a threedimensional effect in my paintings. I love colours to express the positive attitude to my live. I believe that there is all the time a door open when I believe it. There is no sence to see the negative things in live because all the peoble around me has also negative things in there live. In 2006 I began to paint oilcolour on velvet. I like to play with the structure from the velvet. There is a special effect on the painting with velvet. There were peoble telling me to paint abstract things than I would have the better chance to sell it. But I love to paint animals, to bring there soul and character on the canvas or velvet, to give them live that when you pass the painting you are just thinking: ups, this animal has it moved? Also the landscapes and citiescapes have to live, I want really not to copy only fotos but that the peoble can smell the woods or the salt water of the sea, hear ...

Aisha Haider - Welcome to my gallery. I was born in Lancashire in England. I am a self taught artist and have been painting ever since I can remember. I paint in acrylics because of its versatility. Painting has always been a strong part of my life and it is who I am. Painting is an unquechable addiction that I get immense pleasure out of. I paint in an impressionistic style using a little bit of inspiration that comes from nature whilst adding my own elements too. My painting are mostly vibrant and modern. My favourite subjects are umbrellas, reflections and trees. I am very fortunate to have sold over 500 paintings in the Uk and 5 other countries. I hope you enjoy looking at my work and find something to your taste. aEURoeAs music is the poetry of sound, so is painting the poetry of sightaEUR James McNeil Whistler...

Valerie Leri - A strong element throughout my work, is light - both physical and spiritual - through a combination of realism and abstract. My mission is to capture a sense of spontaneity, tranquility, andor movement and energy through the interaction of colors and shapes. I paint with acrylics. Some of my work is interwoven with elements from nature such as bark, sand, stones, shells creating a partiuclar mood and giving the painting three dimensions. I work more by feeling than technique, letting the painting in a sense create iself with myself as a conduit to the visual message, thus the end result is more about flow than form. To a limited extent I strive for effect but most often my efforts are toward lifting the veils of illusion to reveal the truth. There is no right way to interpret my art. All of my work is inspired by the need to create exhilaration, inner joy and peace, both for myself and the view. Ultimately my art is an invitation to dream....

Jeanette Locher - "Her" story of art - by Jeanette Locher (also know as Locher-The Artist) My history as an artist began as soon as I could hold a crayon. I always was attracted to colors in nature and nature itself and tried to imitate Her in my drawings. Growing up in the middle class white suburbs of Detroit afforded me a better education and appreciation for the arts, as the arts were always in the schools. We had "art on a cart" at elementary level and I was always excited to see that cart rolling into my classroom for the hour a week, as this meant to me fun, instead of doing the regular math, writing and reading routine! Later on in junior high school, we had what was termed electives, we could choose between art, drafting, wood or metal or auto shop. I chose wood shop, drafting and art. Back then it was really odd to have females in either wood shop or drafting classes and I excelled at this as my father had taught me how to use tools way before most of the guys were taught by their dads. High school is when I really soared in art. I...

Stefan Van Der Ende - My sculptures are Solutions for Non/existing Problems . Now is the time to collect them. They are rare and unique ,and there are not many of them , also due to the big amount of time it takes to make the biggerones in wood and stone . They are made dreaming/thinking and working intensively , whith the intention to be able communicate emotion through their abstract/associative visual appearence which relate to subconcious processes in the human mind .(specialy mine ofcourse ) There are often more pictures of one sculpture , because ,as you know you have to see sculptures from more sides , to get a good impression .

Ruth Therese - For me it is difficult to explain the creative process. It is like trying to explain why I breathe. It is just something I need to do, something I urge to do. When I was younger, I was very shy. To paint, and the making of graphic works, became a way of expressing my self, my opinions and my feelings. Now, I am not that shy, but I still need to express myself by painting. Every single painting is consequently, in colors and forms, a part of me. And if you "feel" or understand the painting, it just became a part of you as well....

Veronica Brutosky - Figurative work has a place in my endeavors. However, the subjects are not portraiture. The paintings use elements of exaggeration to express deeper element of life. I sometimes paint diptychs and triptychs. Now that I am doing print designs on the computer, I find that being able to create suites of images in which I can shift colors and create beautiful blends is vey satisfying. I still do watercolors. ...
