Artists Describing Their Art:

Pamela Henry - I am a Photography Artist. My process crosses analog and digital borders. Initially my images are captured on film, slides or digitally. I use a range of techniques from cross-process development and polaroid manipulation to digital painting, collage and layering to create what you see here. If I were to condense my thoughts on photographic expression into a single phrase it would be "in the moment". The moment begins at first sight and is complete when I release the shutter, lift my stylo from the polaroid, or remove my hand from the mouse. I know I will relive that feeling each time I look at the image, like a song or a smell that transports you to another place and time. This photographic expression translates beyond verbal expression and rests in your being, invoking a subjective reaction based on your experiences. Herein lies a collection of such moments. ...

Steven Poe - My artwork uses expansive digital technology to represent dreams and other ways of knowing, as I try to understand my world around me. The images represented here in this exhibit are from a "Buddha Nature" series that I am working on. In the process of this series I am asking questions. The global economy and multicultural societies are increasingly accepted norms. Will an integrated spirituality evolve as well? Is polytheism really possible? As artists evolve a global mind, and mature past the self-conscious movement, will art play a responsible role in societies direction? While the technologies I use are complex and the questions I am asking are deep and serious, the goals are simplicity in design and composition with an attitude of fun and adventure. For if I take myself seriously the results would be disastrous. Please visit my website (www.stevenpoe.com) to see more photographic works and read more about my evolving theory of art from a systems perspective. ...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Dmitri Ivnitski - I am artist and scientist living in Florida. Painting has always been a central part of my identity as a human being. I am drawn to bold, vibrant colors to create paintings that express my love and passion for life. My paintings are realistic, impressionistic and pop in style. Color plays a major role in my life. My inspiration comes from shining sunsets, charming forests and colorful floral fields. By using oils I work the canvas with brushes to create strokes with lots of texture. I offer original paintings as well as limited edition prints. In 2017-2019, my artworks have shown in numerous Art shows and been chosen twice as a winner in Art Competition, sponsored by Hallandale Cultural Community Center and Jazz Fest Poster Contest, Sunny Isles BCH, Florida. In 2017 and 2019 I had Solo Exhibition. My other passion is a science. I am author of 110 scientific articles, 4 chapters in books, and several patents. This year I have started to use an acrylic painting. I found acrylics gave me great flexibility, thin transparent washes like watercolors enabling me to build up multiple layers of color and thick impasto swathes creating texture and movement. All my ...

Mark Charles Fox - Photography has often had an identity problem. Over its nearly 200 years, it has won sometimes grudging and other times enthusiastic cultural acceptance. Today, everyone is a photographer. In my view, what I am is an image manipulator. Image manipulating is a daily yoga, I do it for the intrinsically meditative state it induces. In college, oops too late, at the end of my thesis preparation I realized what I should have been doing all along, studying iconography, how we might share wonder and convey the ineffable. This is part of my motivation and a hoped-for result of these externalized meditations. During the past decade or more, IaEURtmve engaged in image manipulating in a dedicated way and have created thousands of them. Each one starts with a photo I have taken and IaEURtmll begin to imagine transforming its shapes and colors. There are just a few rules for instance, never cut and paste, nor combine source images into one, work with one at a time. My preferences extend to the most spaced-out looking images, but I also do ones that might be called aEURoecontemporarily traditionalaEUR. Earlier on, it was all about experimentation, working an image until ...

Ruth Zachary - My goal is to create striking images that touch the viewer emotionally. I try to capture the essence of a subject or scene, so that the viewer reacts with an immediate recognition, and immediate click of Yes. I depend upon composition, simplicity, shape and contrast, as well as my own aesthetic sense and emotional responses. I love creating art through photography. For me it is an opportunity for self-expression, a means of capturing a moment in time and creating beauty, as well as am important means of communication. My education includes a Masters in Social Work and a BA in English Literature. I have done formal study in drawing and pastel, but my photographic study has been informal and self-taught. Since 1980, I have been a frequent visitor to Monhegan Island, 12 miles off the coast of Maine, a remote lobstering island with a summer artists colony. On Monhegan, I became friends with a group of painters and photographers. I applied what I learned from them to my own work. Those I am most grateful to include Frances Kornbluth, Leo Brooks, Robin Young, Judi Wagner, Josie Vargas and Nancy Stanich. I show my art summers on Monhegan Island ...

Pooja Shah - I work with a unique and fresh style that uses a lot of colour, silhouettes, sometimes geometric designs, and a lot of different art styles that range from street art to cubism to create absolutely unique and fresh art pieces. Share a photograph with me on what you want, and i can make it look like the photo, with a twist and give it a new look and feel. ...

Laurie Delaney - I got into photography about 3 years ago. Photography is more than just a hobby, it's a passion. I use basic equipment and don't use any photo editing software. I like my photos to be natural and to capture exactly what I've seen in the moment I took the picture. I have recently been encouraged to share my photographs with others which is why I have joined this website. I hope you enjoy them....
