  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Aniko Hencz - I have been drawing and painting ever since I could hold a pencil in my hand...Most of my works are inspired by nature, buildings and personal feelings which end in abstract or conceptual paintings and drawings - it all depends on my mood. My favorite technique is watercolor and ink, but I also like to paint with acrylic or oil. Another medium I create in, is digital art, where my works are the creations of my imagination. I like to experiment and learn new techniques, thus I ventured myself in creating jewelry. When Im not painting, I make one of a kind beaded and wire wrapped pendants. I sell my pieces worldwide, commission works are also welcome - contact me if you wish something special. ...

Heloisa Castro - Im Heloisa Castro a Brazilian artist from Rio de Janeiro. I was born in a place known as The Montmatre Carioca in Santa Teresa neighborhood. There, when I was just a girl I had my first atelier ou studio. I graduated in Journalism pursuing visual and graphics art and got a postgraduate degree in Marketing. However, Ive never put away the ink tubes, spatulas and the canvas. I was awarded in lounges in Brazil and Europe among others. The traditional painting always led my ways until a new materalization art called my attention. The digital painting. or computer painting. this art is labeled in The Louvre Museum, Paris and Guggenheim foundation, Berlin. With the pioneering spirit of brazilian artists such as Celito Medeiros, I looked up to deepen in the new painting charms, learned the enchantments of Michelle Behars colors, an artist and professor of this modern technic in ParanA! Federal University. ...

Philip Hallawell - I work in various media: oil, watercolor, dry pastels, pen and ink and mixed media. My work is a result of a fragmented view of the world, which gives it a surreal quality. However, my process is not surreal, because I start with a definite theme that I wish to investigate. My main area of interest is people and the human form and I am constantly investigating the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of Man. Over the years I have developed various series, which I revisit periodocally, investigating different aspects. In purely visual terms, what fascinates me is light and form and how I can use diverse visual elements in a complementary way, opposing, for instance, line and form, or rough and smooth textures. The use of diferent materials to achieve diverse expressions, either alone or as mixed media, along with alternating between a graphic representation and a painterly one, or mixing the two, is a very important aspect of the way I materialize my thinking into images. Equally important is the transition from very realistic images to a totally abstract means of expression and alternating between control and expressiveness....

David Tracey - I am an artist based in Sydney, Australia. I like to create beautiful art in a digital realism style where painting technique creates the look of the modern world as we now perceive it through digital techniques. For many years I worked as a scenic artist creating sets and backdrops for film and television, painting very large images in film studios. It was high pressure and short deadlines but what a great time With the advent of computer graphics, I moved on to creating realistic animated content commercially, again specializing in environments and surface textures. But I have come back to painting, still the most satisfying medium. Portraits now, and skyscapes too, sometimes together on the same canvas. I work in oil and acrylic, painting our modern world both so rich and beautiful. I learnt so much from the modern disciplines film work, computer graphics, photography and found it all is relevant when painting. I use these modern elements to lift the image, to meet the expectations of the modern eye. Even flares, artifacts and scattering all work beautifully in oil to create a visually satisfying piece that is still clearly handmade, wrought by human creativity. Artists I admire are ...

Yuming Zhu - I land my brush with the force of a giant rock splashing into the ocean. I am not looking for a beautiful painting, but to express Life itself. Painting is just like a stacking of passions. Painting is a method of striping myself naked and facing the truth of my inner emotion. I invite the viewer to experience through my paintings the joy of being alive right at this moment. I believe I can do lots of things, but painting and poetry are the best beloved channels to express my complicated emotions. Originally from Shanghai, Yuming began studying under the masters at a young age. After his BA from China, Yuming came to the States and graduated from Sonoma State University with his MA in 1991. Working in oils, pastels and ChineseSumi Watercolors, Yumings work is a unique blend of East meets West artistry. It is a style that Yuming refers to as Transism, in reference to the constantly evolving interests, which include observations on modern life, a love of music, and an exploration of his own unique heritage. I paint to achieve balance and harmony. Once I reach that, I will for sure break itaEUR aEURoeMy art is just...

Jose Freitascruz - Borneo > 2003 The tropical rainforest and tales of maritime exploration continue to be reflected in my work. Indeed, travel and displacement condition my work - the many places I lived in throughout my childhood and those others my chronic wanderlust has led me to since then have always had an impact on the choices and directions I have taken. The knowledge that a new perspective can be acquired over things we believe to be "fixed" triggers curiosity and fosters a certain degree of unconformity. The need to find and learn new ways to depict whatever it is I wish to depict keeps me on my toes and doesn't allow me to settle with the tools or the style I am already familiar with - I am constantly "on the move" and my painting is meant to be a record of the path I move along. Perceived from a distance my approach tends to be cyclic, each cycle divided into series. Progression occurs from the outside in aEUR" from the surface to the core, from a certain degree of figuration to abstraction. Upon tackling each new theme I will be struck by the outward aspect of things and charged with a strong desire ...

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my art and acts as a vital element in my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as from the images I find from my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, and museums. Upon locating a documented scene I wish to etch, my first step involves the execution of two to five original drawings of the photograph. My collaboration between photography and printmaking allows me the independence to integrate my personal interpretations into the scene. Moreover, I create bridges between the physical and metaphysical visual realities in the same way that a camera intersects with human creativity . . . the nexus between the mechanical and the cerebral art tools. Art unveils everything that we mask behind our belief systems conversely, I strive in my creations to clarify those phenomena we overlook as a result of our egocentric assumptions. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice things, a process I label, the phenomenology of connectedness, on todayaEURtms very infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies of social media. My artworks therefore become like windows through which to examine the mysteries of aEURoeeveryday consciousnessaEUR. In fact, my use of ...

Dick Drechsler - I have had a lifelong interest in photography. As a child, my best friends father owned a chain of photo processing plants, providing me the opportunity to learn much about the art. At the ripe old age of 14, I set up a darkroom in my bathroom. I even played around with my own primitive version of Photoshop by using an Exacto knife to cut negatives and merge images. Having spent most of my career in the resort development industry, I retired from that career in 2007 and have been posting quality images, doing commercial photography and photojournalism ever since. I am an active press member of the Los Angeles Press Club and accredited by the United States Press Agencys editorial board as a photojournalist and sports writer and am a member of the United States Press Association. I am also a Roving Reporter for Latitude 38, a contributor to the National Press Club, a photographer for Currents Magazine, Ventura County , CA, a contributor to Seven Seas Sailing Association and a photographer - contributor to Sharon, Ink, Public Relations. ...
