Artists Describing Their Art:

Mark Charles Fox - Photography has often had an identity problem. Over its nearly 200 years, it has won sometimes grudging and other times enthusiastic cultural acceptance. Today, everyone is a photographer. In my view, what I am is an image manipulator. Image manipulating is a daily yoga, I do it for the intrinsically meditative state it induces. In college, oops too late, at the end of my thesis preparation I realized what I should have been doing all along, studying iconography, how we might share wonder and convey the ineffable. This is part of my motivation and a hoped-for result of these externalized meditations. During the past decade or more, IaEURtmve engaged in image manipulating in a dedicated way and have created thousands of them. Each one starts with a photo I have taken and IaEURtmll begin to imagine transforming its shapes and colors. There are just a few rules for instance, never cut and paste, nor combine source images into one, work with one at a time. My preferences extend to the most spaced-out looking images, but I also do ones that might be called aEURoecontemporarily traditionalaEUR. Earlier on, it was all about experimentation, working an image until ...

John Cielukowski - I received my BA in Fine Arts from Montclair University in New Jersey in 1981. I also studied at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) and The Art Students League in New York City. I enjoy painting vintage amusement park scenes, farm animals, domestic and feral felines and industrial landscapes. With my paintings of farm animals I try to convey that these animals have the same depth of emotion, feel joy and suffer just like our domesticated pets do. I donate my paintings and prints to local non-profit Central Florida groups such as (Save The Manatee Club, The Brevard Achievement Center, The Space Coast Feline Network and the Humane Society of Central Brevard) for their fund-raising efforts. I also donate to national animal welfare groups like Farm Sanctuary, in Woodstock, NY. I am an active member of the Central Brevard Art Association. I am responsible for hanging artwork at one of our aEURoeArt in Public SpacesaEUR locations....

Jerry Di Falco - Photography inspires my visual art and also serves as a key element in the creation of my etchings. The images I employ originate from my own photographs, as well as those my research into the digital archives of universities, historical societies, libraries, museums, and foundations. Upon locating a photographed scene that I wish to translate into etching, I first make several drawings based on that scene. Moreover, using photography allows me to balance documented visuals with my personal interpretations within everyday scenes. I strive to create a convergence between the metaphysical and physical aspects of perceived reality. My etchings attempt to unveil what we mask behind personal assumptions. In other words my scenes unveil what we overlook in the ordinary world. Ironically enough, I blame this failure to notice reality . . . or what I call the phenomena of connectedness . . . on todayaEURtms infatuation with and addiction to the new communicational technologies. My artworks are windows through which people examine the mysteries of human consciousness. In fact, my use of multiple etching plates to create one etched design helps reinforce the illusion of seeing a scene through a window. Each individual area in my multiple-plate etchings becomes a windowpane separated by ...

Maria Teresa Fernandes - Admiring Teresa's paintings we are touched by her pictorial sensitivity. Difficult task in light colors (volume and transparencies on a clear basis). Few do it due to the required dedication with pallete knife(no brush). It's painting consacrated by the love to paint. Radha Abramo(Renowned art critique)comments at Solo Exhibition Catalog at SESC Paulista in June 84 -( sent at request and reproduced in one of the pages of this site). ...

Dora Martinez - The fusion between imagination and technology summarizes the message in my work. Nature, city life and fashion are the sources of inspiration, The goal is to turn the simple details into new visual dimensions of light and color and to discover the infinite possibilities within an image. Through the years I accumulated a vast collection of photographs taken during my trips to Asia, Europe, North America and Central America. In 2002 the discovery process was initiated. Using the computer as the medium, I began experimenting with Adobe Photoshop, taking images to the extreme through digital manipulation. As for the present, I continue to find life and nature's uncontainable movement to be the creative platform in all my work. ...

Dora Martinez - Lynda Lehmann - I have participated in numerous juried shows and had solo shows of my paintings. Ive sold my photography and digital art online, in galleries and other real-time venues, although I am currently marketing my work primarily online. My stock art sells well and Ive sold at least 2400 images in that venue. Life events had steered me away from painting but I am jumping back into that part of my process and hope to have new paintings online within the next few months. OTHER STUFF My painting Bibliophiles Dream has been featured on the cover of the Insights Journal of Austin Seminary. My paining Damariscotta Dream has been used for the cover of Chuck Sweetmans poetry chapbook published by Dream Horse Press. My image Enchanted Forest was used by the Sierra Club in their online feature Daily Ray of Hope. The Yellow Door has been published in Long Islands Canvas Magazine. I was a featured artist at Imagekind in July and have been featured from time to time on my other sites as well. February 1 - 28, 2009 - Metrimorphic III featuring new abstract paintings combining biomorphic and geometric elements, Harborfields Library, Greenlawn, NY. Due to time constraints I will ...

Melcha C - Artistic approach My paintings reflect pieces of collective intimate memory inspired by pop art retro music. Ii?1/2m also painting live nude contemporary models where the colors and movements live along. Collection My paintings are spread through many private collections in USA New-York, California, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Georgia, in India, in Belgique, in Montreal in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges area ...

Sergey Lesnikov - Old things fascinate - wood, metal, stones, cobweb of craquelure on old varnish .. the way time worked on them. Perhaps as proof that Time is material, and has value in itself. Once, looking at the massive hundred-year-old board from the old house, I imagined all those works on the wood panels, from icons to painting, which we never saw, that left, disappeared, lost in time. How could they look like Then I came to idea to make such a thing, looking like a found artifact, with fragments of old painting on ancient piece of wood. So I have created it, and continue working now.. Additional technical education helps to find new and new technological solutions, and now every work is physically unique, because of the uniqueness of the key element - old wood, and because of the peculiarities of the process. Nowadays, when so many people are interested in medieval style, fantasy and pseudo-historical stories- from The Lord of the Rings to the Game of Thrones, such kind of works are interesting, arenaEURtmt they Such as they could be, if they existed in reality and reached our days.. Im always in search- of new approaches, new materials, sometimes ...

Lauren Shae Morganstein - My art has become an important outlet that has enabled me to capture the stereotypical ideals that have been flooded through the veins of marketing and crammed down the throats of my generation. I began to use those ideals in a somewhat satirical way, capturing and even playing the roles of the 1950's stereotypical woman in an attempt to better understand her. My work began to take on a more satirical force as I dove further into the "Holly Housewife" role. Smiling depiction of yesterdays woman who required a daily done of "mothers little helper" in order to perform her duties. My work toys with audience at times, as the reality gets doused with fantasy and dotting duties in attempt to make people think, to wonder & even imagine the real story behind the image....
