  • Artists Describing Their Art:

Agnes Dodart - My creation process involves a personal journey made of furtive impressions and elusive thoughts or feelings from deep within. With the combined magic of memory, association and imagination, ideas and visions flow intuitively along the path. I think of my art as visual poetry, as a glimpse into my soul. Sharing it is an invitation for viewers to pause and explore their own inner landscape. Artist Statement In my representational work, I enjoy creating eye-catching pictures that blend vagueness and subtle details with sharpness and contrasts. My creations often echo some of my favorite themes in science-fiction & fantasy literature, and also reflect my interest in philosophy and metaphysics. Addressing the subconscious and the imagination, I combine hyperrealism and surrealism to form unusual scenes that broaden the notion of reality and blur its boundaries. My abstract work is about composing distinctive and stimulating designs where beauty lies in harmony and balance. I use mostly fractal imagery because I am drawn to its immediate visual impact and to the game of exploration it involves. As I play endlessly with shapes and textures, colors and tones, movement and light, I focus on the aesthetic rhythm that will unite elements into compelling...

Joma Sipe - Joma Sipe is the artistic name of Joao Manuel Pereira, born at 2 of August of 1974 in the city of Porto.Joma Sipe is interested in painting since very early, never having carried through any exposition until now, understanding to have fond the time to show some of his works and share them with others. The painting of Joma Sipe is based and is inspired in the Symbolist Movement of ends of the XXI Century, that had as main exponents Gustave Moreau, Fernand Khnopff, Arnold Bocklin, Edward Burne-Jones, Walter Crane, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, among others, including Johfra. Joma Sipe is interested in the pure esoterism and all the art related with this movement, being all his art also influenced for the mystic aspects included in legends, myths and spirituality. Joma Sipe is also interested in classic composers as Wagner and Beethoven, as well as in symphonic choral music, especially some operas of Wagner, works by Arvo Part and some Requiems, being interested especially for this last "musical style". Joma Sipe loves music by Enya and Vangelis, among others composers of their kind. His First Individual Exposition carried through during the month of July of 2003 called "...

Nichole Dement - THE IMAGE My images are an exploration of human nature. I juxtapose photographs of people taken in a studio with images captured in my environment through a color darkroom process or through layers of mixed media and encaustic. This layering of images creates a new composition that enhances the idea that we are not only shaped by our environment, but also uniquely meshed within it. THE PROCESS Like my image style, my process is experiential. While creating the images, I employ various creative methods to make each image unique, i.e. painting, scratching, puncturing and/or layering. ...

Gerald Porter - We can never really know the world. It has too many faces and is inexhaustible even if behind the facade it is really very small. We can only behold it and allow ourselves to fully drink in what unfolds before us. We can never fully see the world, instead we must be content with sensing its inchoate shapes and colors beyond what our physical senses can reveal. Painting like all art is suggestion. The unknown and mysterious world is revealed by art which points towards what the viewer may notice. Even though people for the most part don't know it, they are staring into a void - a void that is everything and nothing, a pregnant emptiness. If you stare at a blank wall long enough you will begin to see things emerge like messages from a magic eight-ball. If you stare long enough mere images evolve into whole realities. As an artist, as a painter, I suggest what you as an observer might notice as you unwittingly create your reality. I can help shape that reality to be more engaging and exciting. But since you as the observer are creating your own experience, I am ultimately serving ...

Tony Schanuel - Tony Schanuel Artist Statement My work is an exploration into the unseen world of consciousness. I am inspired by such artists as Dali, Escher and Monet, and fascinated with the writings of psychologists Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell. The incredible creative synergy of these influences merges with my Zen meditation practice to inform my art. The goal of my art is to inspire the viewer to the possibilities of the unseen world to which we all belong. I offer my art as a conduit to that last amazing frontier - Inner Space, one's own consciousness. As a digital artist, my background is grounded in photography, having worked as an on-location commercial photographer for more than 30 years. I was always intrigued with the process of manipulating images in the darkroom. In fact, my earliest art was created by sandwiching transparencies before the printing process, resulting in images that were photographic yet surreal. Ten years ago, I jumped over the edge into the digital world with my first Macintosh computer. The first six weeks or so, the learning curve was so steep that I questioned my sanity. I thought I had bought the most expensive boat anchor known to man. ...

Ernest Reich - The reason I decided to pursue painting as a career was the cash. The bling bling. The bread. Dead presidents. I considered tort law, plastic surgery, and organised crime, among other things, as a vehicle to great wealth, but honestly, there is no shortage of those guys. I knew I had to blaze a new path if I was to acheive the huge monetary rewards I craved. Painting skulls, cars, and robots is what I do. Any high school guidance counselor will tell you that is the fastest way to get rich. As I light my cuban with a wad of hundred dollar bills, I feel thankful that I didn't waste my time at colledge. Whenever I have time to answer my fan mail from the youth of America, I always tell them to stop studying and concentrate instead on artwork or rap music. Yes indeed, as I stroll the grounds of my palatial estate, I can't help but think that the best source of inspiration is pure, unadulterated greed. So buy one of my paintings; the solid gold horseshoes on my purebred racehorse is looking a bit tarnished. ...

John Peter Glover - At its foundation, my work uses a linear element as the basis for the composition. The intended result is to suggest or convey the essence of an object(s) in a vague manner often wrapped in an expressive emotional context. Based on a vast supply of my own drawings as a primary resource, I compound and refine the images until I'm satisfied that I have the right combination. Often, this is a matter of using layer upon layer of a building process within the image area. The subject or theme is certainly contemporary. I consider it to be more sensual than it is political, yet expressive, somewhat akin to the expressionistic style of the mid-twentieth century moderns. The work is also more surreal than representational. I work both with traditional mediums (acrylic on canvas) as well as with digital tools. Regardless of the medium the central concept or message is never a "slave" to the medium. The images will assume a varied appearance or "complexion" depending the medium . Although I find that the digital work in general is not always understood in terms of it's archival integrity, I can assure my buyers that my work is always ...
